It’s week 2 in the House of Tiny Tearaways, and so far two families have arrived hoping to solve their parenting dilemmas in an environment of mutual support. 3 and a half year old Lucy Hadley’s tantrums are causing friction for her parents, Richard and Alyson. Single Mum Michelle Wright from Glasgow is feeling exhausted. Two year old Ross and three and a half year old Matthew’s refusal to sleep through the night means that Michelle hasn’t had an undisturbed night’s sleep since Ross was born. Paula and dad Steve are here to try and solve the eating problems of their sons Isaac (2) and Jacob (5). Isaac Murphy refuses to eat any food with lumps in it and his older brother will only eat if he is fed by his mother.
Presenter Claudia Winkleman guides the audience through a week-long journey at TV’s first ever child and parent behaviour refuge.
During their stay at the House of Tiny Tearaways, three families live together, while child psychologist Dr Tanya Byron works with both parents and children to solve issues around fussy eating, sleeping habits, and public tantrums - and she'll challenge the parents to get to the root of the problems they're experiencing raising their children.
With Dr Tanya Byron's help and advice, the hope is that the families will learn useful pedagogy techniques and gain new insights, giving them long-lasting support though the parenting challenges they're facing.
