Great review Adam, thank you for the info. Question for you. How do you secure the RRS ball head to the Manfrotto tripod? They have the same thread mount but the lock screws are not compatible if I'm correct. Thinking about buying the BH40 and have a Manfrotto tripod so I'm curious.

Hey David, thank you so much, glad you enjoyed the video! For my Manfrotto tripod (which is the 055 series), all I do is just screw on the BH40 ballhead. They are perfectly compatible with each other. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the video on this. I just got the BH-40 for astrophotography and really dont like it. I will probably return it soon. The reason is that the lever clamp always seems to get in the way of the knobs and the tripod head when I tilt my camera up towards the sky or want to move the camera sideways to portrait. The low profile doesnt all me to angle the camera much.

Glad you like it! I have also had that issue where the lever clamp sometimes runs into the knobs and it can get annoying. You could maybe look into the LeFoto LH-40 ballhead. I've used it a little bit and it's pretty nice. It also is a twisting knob instead of a lever clamp.
