Ingredients
Oil
Urad dal - 4 tsp
Red chili - 5 no
Garlic - 2 no
Grated coconut -1 cup
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Tamarind - 1 soaked
Salt
For Tempering:
Oil - 2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
Red chili - 1 no
Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves
Method:
1. To a pan, add oil and urad dhal. Roast it until it turns slight brown.
2. To this add red chillies and garlic. Roast is for few mins.
3. Now remove the roasted ingredients and let is cool.
4. To a mixer jar, add the roasted ingredients, along with coconut, cumin, soaked tamarind and salt.
5. Add a little water and ground it to a nice chutney consistency.
6. To a tempering pan, add oil. Then add urad dal, mustard seeds, cunin seeds, red chilli, asafoetida powder, curry leaves.
7. Add the tempered ingredients to the chutney.
8. Serve this chutney along side of some steaming dosa and idly.
