Also another red flag---a piercer telling you a piercing is OK even if you've been to several different piercers, and they told you that your anatomy wasn't suitable for the piercing you wanted. This happened to me. I wanted to get a daith in one ear, and a rook in the other. I went to several studios, and was told my anatomy wouldn't support those piercings. I went to a tattoo studio, and that piercer told me she could do them, no problem. I made the excuse to go get money at the ATM, and left the studio. They are no longer in business either. Great info here. Totally enjoyed. (Jan Griffiths).

My piercing studio has sooo many good policies. They actually name and shout out the company of the jewelry in the box when you’re shopping for them! And they require consultations before advanced piercings like cheeks, genitalia, or non-midline tongue piercings 🙌🏽 I’ve never had a bad piercing from them 🥲

Yessss I would love another video on Green Flags and things you like to see when you go to a studio! I referenced one of your other videos last year when I looked for a place in my area and found one with good reviews that was APP certified and clean and I want to get another piercing but would love any tips on what to look for!

Another red flag is when a "piercer" asks you to sit a shop window for your ears piercings. You should be sitting or lying comfortably and not on public display for your procedure.

Funny enough, the place I first got pierced with was proud to say they carried Invictus. The new place I go is proud to say they carry Tawapa, BVLA, NeoMetal, Buddha, Ananometal, and Auris. They have booklets from the companies, cards for them, and will order anything you want from thsoe companies. I do like that they offer booklets, cards, showed me a text they sent to a rep for a company to price check something for me. I like upfront and info and knowing what they carry.

Whats the issue with Invictus? I'm uneducated about them

It would seem, from this video and personal experience, that they aren't up to snuff. The pieces I had were flaking into the fresh piercings I had and kept them from healing for like a year (two of them I never got to heal infact, and had to close up). Once I got new jewlery my conch healed in no time. One I had to let close up because it was beyond healing, the flaking piece in it had just left it constantly with a bump and agitated. The other helix I lost after a long battle trying to get it to heal up and it just never healing no matter what I did. Meanwhile my conch healed and the forward helix I later got, done by my new piercer, healed without a single issue. So it wasn't me, like the original piercer said, it was in large part the jewlery they used because the flaking agitated the fresh piercings and kept them from healing. @@lunnyarts7799

Hey. This is the piercer whose shop posts their tattoos everyday but their posts about their piercer hasnt been posted in 6 months. My boss told me yesterday that I shouldn’t buy better quality jewelry for the shop because it’s a TATTOO shop and not a tattoo & piercing” shop. Currently looking for better opportunities now.

I bought 2 earrings from Oufer from etsy. One of the earrings broke within seconds of me trying to bend it as the instructions showed how for a flat back. The other one of the pair when I tried to put in my ear, I felt a sharp part of the backing that scratched inside my piercing.

Heyy Lynn! I’m a piercer at a tattoo shop. After watching this video I realized after watching this it that I haven’t been posted on my shops page in almost 7 months. Should I reach out to my boss and ask him to post me more? Idk why I feel so intimidated to do so :(

Thank you so much! You’ve Definitely helped broaden my knowledge ❤ I’d love more videos like this. The good, the bad, maybe even some tips on how to determine if anatomy is right. I’ve had many experiences where “good” piercers have given me a piercing and another would say it was done wrong or not the right anatomy etc. it could be helpful in also knowing which piercer is properly knowledgeable in anatomy

i once saw a studio do an "educational" series on various piercings and they said they use bioplast for fresh piercings. and when i said thats not right they blocked me. theyre like one of the biggest studios here, a real shame. (of course after they blocked me I got really mad and stalked their page and found a bunch of other shit but whatever)

I know you did a video about places offering piercing classes and how those aren’t regulated… but without saying too much in a public forum I hope you’ll know what I’m referring to when I ask if there can be a discussion about the recent influx of “hollow needle piercings” in some states out west that have become more popular recently. Those that offer this specified service often offer other beauty services as well. I wish I could elaborate more, but I’ll stop there. I hope this makes sense! Thank you.

7:16 wait studios really refuse this?? All I had to do was ask my piercer where to get affordable titanium jewelry after she switched me to that to help with healing and she told me “we get ours from these sites but idk if you as an individual can get from them, so here’s some other sites to try I like”

Two more red flags not necessarily associated with studios are when someone tells you that you don't want a piercing even when you know you do, or when someone tells you that the piercing(s) you want/have is inappropriate for your gender. That is just downright rude and sexist.

What is you professional opinion about piercers listing services as their street/slang name (Monroe, angel bites, etc) instead of professional terms? Secondly what is your opinion on piercers at anime/comic conventions? Is this safe or sterile?
@Lynn_Loheide
@Lynn_Loheide 5 ай бұрын
I have never seen an anime or comic con set up for safe piercing. I know there’s the anime ink con but that is a tattoo convention first. I think it’s a….slightly red flag? I would say most folks use proper terms. However some good piercers may choose to use slang to be more easily searchable.

I’m not sure what markers or ink you use but usually an alcohol wipe takes it right off! Most of my marks come off with the iodine after I find as well.

What about piercing guns? If they offer to pierce ear lobes with a gun as an alternative to needles, would you say that is a red flag?
@Lynn_Loheide
@Lynn_Loheide 6 ай бұрын
Absolutely a major red flag
@DavidChild-ty2od
@DavidChild-ty2od 6 ай бұрын
I had a feeling. They also refused to double pierce both my ear lobes during one appointment. I have since found a piercing studio which was happy to proceed according to my wishes and they told me that they don't use guns at all. I am now happily pierced with 14G needle and doing fine. I wouldn't advise anyone to get pierced with a gun. Thank you, and all the best.
