The p30 pro has a vivid option, it looks like it's on. Choose standard, and the colors will look the same as p40 pro.

After this video I realized how P30 Pro is good for photography when compared with new model. The only clear difference I noticed was in video quality. Except that - not that much of a difference as we would expect from the latest flagship.

Thanks for test! My opinion about this phones is that p30pro is better in day and night photos, but nights is wery close. P40pro is much better in videos and selfies.

thanks again. the 40 is definitely more refined, and I like the more natural colours. I actually prefer it for night mode too, it depends what you go for, but I don't like lights blowing out. and of course it seems way more light sensitive, plus the better selfie nights shots.

P40 hands down, better colours and shading. As for night vision, perhaps there should be alternative settings to get what shots you require than presets ? P30 Pro camera update, nah, they will not do that now they have to sell their P40 Pro..Personally, I've just ordered mine! Thanks for a great video Alex..

I'm amazed with the little difference. I've had my P30 Pro for nearly a year now and I really can't see after watching the comparison why I should go up and pay lots of money for very little upgrade and no Google (unless you side load it) . Thanks for that Alex. Fantastic job. Now if possible can you do comparison between the P30 Pro and the oppo find X2 . If I'm gonna change my phone it will be how these two look side by side. While colours are more true to life in the P40 daylight photos I think the P30 is the best for night shots because they don't appear so dark, even if the extra light present is arguably unnatural. I can understand why Huawei have taken the approach they have with the P40, but you will never please everyone regardless of what you decide to change in a product. as far as day light photos are concerned, which is better is all down to personal choice, but a photographer would prefer the P40s day light photos.

Did you use night mode for P40 Pro when taking those night shots? Apparently I've been hearing that the normal mode taken at night for the P40 Pro actually looks better in many cases than the night mode being switched on, so it would be great if you could confirm that.

I'm definitely not upgrading from my p30 pro.

Would be good to see the exif data from the night pictures were the P40 Pro has so much noise. And know what mode you used for taking them. The P40 Pro should have better signal to noise ratio

I own both devices and apart from the wide camera which is way improved (but with narrower field of view) I always get better results on P30 Pro.

Fantastic comparison! I'm sorry if I missed it, but is the AI mode on or off? Regarding the night time pictures, there seems to be an issue with Night Mode on the P40 Pro judging by the review over at GSMArena. With Night Mode off I suspect the P40 Pro to be a bit better, though perhaps not as good as the P30 Pro with Night Mode? I love the color accuracy of the P40 Pro, though like you said, Huawei could probably update the P30 Pro to achieve very similar quality if they wanted to. The Ultra Wide on the P30 Pro tends to underexpose photos which is why the sky is often dark blue. I usually have to raise the exposure of the whole image when taking a picture, or part of the image (like the sky) in post processing.

It's amazing to see the improvements, that Huawei has made in a year. P30 Pro looks way too saturated in 90 % of the pictures. 3:36 was one of the few pictures, where I liked the P30 Pro more. BTW I like your accent. xD

Good stuff, so I'll stay woth my P30PRO for another year. Top phone. Love it. After 8 years of samsung. I think the p30pro will get an update to change the colours in the future. As it already had one after the first few month. 👍

For night time mode you are right about them trying to be as natural as possible because apple iPhone 11 series is doing that but since you like them looking on p30 pro night mode preference for people they want it to look natural so it is nothing but personal preference. For me my personal preference is p30 pro night mode like you. Night mode is a new technology and definitely the best way to have it is by clicking the picture you like while the photo is loading and I do have that option on p20 pro and I believe they have all of these options on their Huawei phones. I love Huawei so much❤️❤️❤️ For apple, I wish they boost their audio quality and I wish KZfaqrs would talk about this, listening to music is pretty terrible on iPhones. Samsung, then Huawei have it best when it comes to listening to audio.

I have the P30 Pro and its great. The P40 is not a big step up but more a subtle one. Comparing the price and the Google Service compatiblity of both phones.. Than I must say P30 Pro is the way better pick

Firstly, a very good comparison. As for night pictures, I think the P40pro is trying to keep more details in and around those light sources against dark background, and hence compromises some overall brightness of the whole picture.

In the video around 9.00 to 9.15 there's a "creation" of anew light from the public light source in both the devices. It's not lens flare, they literally just recreate a light the same as the real light source.
