This is an old argument.. 1. Muhammad ibn ishaaq is the only one narrating this addition, none of the other (including Malik bin Anas) narrators stated this. Hadith scholars have declared this addition to be weak and going against stronger narrators. Why would all the other narrators, with stronger memory, forget that this happened? The most authentic version is in Sahih Muslim 1452 (without the addition). 2. The verse regarding 10 times breastfeeding has been abrogated in recitation and ruling. The ruling is now 5, and the recitation is still abrogated. Since the Prophet salAllahu aleyhi wa salam was alive, this is perfectly fine and part of the revelation. Only the jews don't accept abrogation. 3. The most important thing in the life of the Prophet and his companions was the Quran. How is it that the Prophet recited a verse ONLY to 1 person, and that person wrote it down and didn't memorize it, and many years later was careless with the piece of paper such that an animal could eat it? Such an important object is stored in different places, secure and safe from danger. 4. Even if, for sake of argument, it is an authentic addition, then a piece of paper with Quran being lost has no impact at all. At the death of Prophet Muhammad salAllahu aleyhi wa salam, 1000s of Muslims memorized the Quran and it would be in their hearts anyway. But as stated above, the recitation was abrogated.

The oldest manuscript is called the Birmingham manuscript and to quote David Thomas, professor of Christianity and Islam at the University of Birmingham said: "The tests carried out on the parchment of the Birmingham folios yield the strong probability that the animal from which it was taken was alive during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad or shortly afterwards. This means that the parts of the Qur’an that are written on this parchment can, with a degree of confidence, be dated to less than two decades after Muhammad’s death. These portions must have been in a form that is very close to the form of the Qur’an read today, supporting the view that the text has undergone no alteration and that it can be dated to a point very close to the time it was believed to be revealed." Hopefully this was some help, I myself as a revert often pondered the question that has this miraculous book been changed, and you will find out when you watch debates and scholars, that in fact it has not. Uptimus Prime Alhamdulilah may Allah bless you. I've heard stories from trustoworthy Shaykh's that there were many people who saw the Angel of Death way before they died. However, these type of people are usually very very pious people. An old pious man who was very dedicated to Islam was in his house when the Angel of Death came into his house and told him that he'll die that week/next morning (sorry I forgot). He gave him the opportunity to tell his family. Usually things like seeing Prophet Muhammad in dreams, seeing Angel of Death before death itself happens to only pious people.

Learning Muslim Hi, I would recommend reading the Quran, a lot of people read it and found there answers. But beware, the Quran is very complex you should find a teacher to explain it to you. For two reasons, the Quran shouldn’t be read subjectively because everyone would have a difference of opinion, it should be understood how the prophet Muhammad(PBUH) and his compainions understood it. Also, without having a teacher unclear verses may confuse you and you may not seek to learn anymore, sometimes this happens. Uthman burnt the copies that weren't correct, they weren't correct in the sense that these copies were written by people themselves from their own memory, not during the supervision of the Prophet Muhammad, since people were writing from their memory, they were bound to make mistakes or write down things that they weren't 100% sure of. That's why, all those copies that were conflicting were burnt, and the Quran was compiled in the original form by the companions who learnt the Quran directly from the Prophet himself. People who learnt the Quran from the Prophet directly were involved in the compilation of the Quran, the very trusted companions of the Prophets were involved. At the end of the day, people like Abu bakr, the best friend of the Prophet Muhammad agreed with Uthman. So who are you to even question Uthman's authenticity?

One major flaw in your reasoning. The Quran which means the recitation, is transmitted orally and by perfect memorisation. Show me a variant which has only 16 alphabets. What you probably mean is that certain alphabets look the same without diacritical points. These are not the same alphabet just as E and F are not the same.

Even the Rasm are not even from the 7th Century, and now we are finding that even these differ in 10000's of ways from each other. There have been untold alterations, changes, coverings and erasures. There are so many parts missing from each one, that even combining all of the Manuscripts together still won’t make a whole Musaf. There are NOT just HOLES in the Quran story, they are GAPING CHASMS, which cannot be explained. So how can anyone with any logic or common sense believe that it is the Word of God ?. The FACTS are that there is no such thing as "The Quran" there are many variants with many different words, meaning and even order of the Sura's E.g. Ibn Masud’s Codex starts 2,4.3,7 & ends with Sura 94. While Ubayy’s begins 1,2,4,3 and ends with 114.

The official quran was compiled during the time of the caliphs not the prophet pbuh so it was clear that the book form was not considered the important part. No of course you didn't because you are SCARED of what you would find According to Islamic tradition, the Quran was revealed to Mohamed in Seven ahruf (translated as "dialects" or "styles". 20 years after Mohamed died, 3rd Caliph Uthman had Zaid bin Thubit along with other 2 Scribes, retrieve a copy from under Hafsa’s Bed, and despite her stating that 2 pages had been lost, and one Sura forgotten compiles the remaining parts from various "Reciters" Bark, Leaves & Stones. Uthman then without prior direction from Mohamed, has his Official Qurans sent out to all the provinces, and then has all other copies of the Quran Burnt to ensure that it is read only in the Queshi Dialect. The Qira’at (Recitations or Readings) are the different linguistic, syntactical forms used while reciting the Quran. There are 10 different recognised schools of qira'at, each one deriving its name from a noted Quran reader. While these Quran readers lived in the second and third century of Islam, the scholar who first approved of the qira'at (Abu Bakr Ibn Mujāhid) lived a century later, and so did the "transmitters" who passed down the readings. This is part of the confusion that we see today, because despite Mohamed revealing the Quran in 7 different dialects, we find that Uthman rejected Mohammed’s instructions, and tries to have these very same 7 Ahruf eradicated. However, more importantly, we find that despite Uthmans best effort to erase these other readings, many have survived and indeed there are 37 different variants to this day. Ibn ishaq was not an authoritative scholar of Hadith major scholars of Hadith warned against him he used to narrate from Jews and Christians and had many issues when it comes to his works so his Hadith was weak there are other similar narrations from stronger narrators in regards to breastfeeding which do not mention sheep eating ibn ishaq Hadith is weak “Ibn ad-Durays has narrated a report of Ibn ‘Umar that he used to dislike the person who said, ‘I have recited the whole of the Qur’an.’ He (Ibn ‘Umar) used to say, ‘But (the reality is) a part of the Qur’an has been abrogated.’”[6] This report confirms that Ibn ‘Umar’s statement simply refers to what was abrogated from the Qur’an. “And similar is the report of ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas from Ubayy, that he heard a man said to him: ‘O Abul-Munzar, verily I have gathered (i.e. memorized) the whole of the Qur’an.’ He (Ubayy) said to him, ‘He does not know (what the whole of it was) because so much of the Qur’an was abrogated and it was not found afterwards. Narrated Abu Bakrah: The Prophet said: “One of you should not say: ‘I fasted the whole of Ramadan, and I prayed during the night in the whole of Ramadan.’ I do not know whether he disliked the self-praise; or he (the narrator) said: ‘He must have slept a little and taken rest.’”[14] We can see that even though it is natural that one who would fast as such for the whole month of Ramadan, will break the fasts at night and will also sleep besides standing in late-night prayers, yet an out of the way step is taken in instructing not to make such a claim.
