I have the 2007 g35 sedan. A bit less power, bit less weight, two less gears, mines rwd. My last car was a Tercel. You nailed it. it is a GOOD car. it does nothing bad. it does nothing GREAT. I like it, not love it. I got it for 10 grand two years ago, it has 140 thou on it now, and STILL drives like new. Not a single problem. So why don't I LOVE it? why do I want to get a 335i or S4 instead? Why do I want that anxiety? And then I see this review. That's it. I'm bored. I often say to bored people that 'bored is just another way to say 'Everything is okay.' Be happy for that.' So I'm keeping this car. I'm not going to go buy the car that isn't OKAY. I'm not going to date the high-maintenance supermodel that can't wait to leave me. I'll settle for the just pretty gal that fucks and cooks and cleans, and is good to me. Everything is okay, and I'll be happy for that.

The Skyline in Japan has no GTR model... the GTR moniker is now a completely different car all on its own. SO yes while we (USA) don't get the Skyline by name we do get the Infinity G37 and Nissan 350/370Z... which is basically what the Skyline has turned in to in Japan. A nice GT car and not a hyper Performance car like the current Nissan R35 GTR has become. Which can be owned by pretty much anyone with enough money to buy it.

I always perceived the G37 in similar character to the Phaeton. It's really nice and competent at everything, but it doesn't shout about it. This is possibly because the 37's never had the douche baggage the 35's suffered from, but something about the car always struck me as humble. It knows it's older now and can't be a two seater with razor blades for headlights any more, it can't plaster itself with nismo badges and trashy body kits. It's just a hard-worker that has festered into the cold shell of indifference brought on by adult life, wanting to be a Z again.

The thing I love most about these cars, is their potential to be really clean. They might come boring from the factory, but get some nice wheels, springs, head/tail lights and maybe a kit and you've got a really clean car.

Well, as "G37 Guy", without a number of the characteristics listed, I can tell you this: I have the 2012 sport model, which has modification to suspension and steering (this video indicates it's all stock). After buying the vehicle in 2012, it has taken me 135,000 trouble free miles. This is a HUGE consideration in the luxury/near luxury market. Anyone who has dropped a $7,000 transmission a few hundred miles after the warranty expired would appreciate the rock solid reliability of this vehicle. No, it's not the prettiest car on the block. The design is tired. Its replacement, the Q50, has been a box of problems for Infiniti and the early adopters. I find the Q50 far more laughable than the G it scooted out the door, especially that deliciously awful fake steering. While this video hits the high points on the G's positive attributes, it glosses over them. The reliability I have experienced out of this car has drastically reduced cost of ownership. At 135k, it drives nearly as well as new. My only investments have been regular maintenance in the form of tires, brakes and oil changes. I have to get the sunroof re-seated (about $250.00), as this model has a serious sunroof problem which causes leaks all over the car. Those 330 horses? My God they are wonderful launching onto the interstate or playing on a long stretch of lonely road late at night. The car is so damn solid I can forgive it for being a combination of mid range options which all work very well. It's time to trade and buy a new car, and I'm not sure if I will ever experience the sheer quality of this car again.
@davidbrowne99845 жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree more, I love my 2013 Gr7xS, it's nice and lots of fun. Great power, I came from a 3.7 litre Acura TL with 395 hp with torque vectoring. Thing is something always went wrong, replacement engine cost $5000 because of oil burning issues common to the 3.7 ltr TL and MDX. Reliable, fun and nice aren't bad qualities. If you want more you'll have to spend much much more money. I'm very happy w my 330 hp K& N intake and sport exhaust which sounds great.

@@davidbrowne9984 I bought a 2008 G37S new - ordered it, in fact - after 5 trouble-free years in a G35. I traded because the G35S wasn't as "nice" in so many ways. The G37S was about $9K more, but the 50HP jump, and improved content - touch-screen or voice everything, Nav gives 9GB of music storage, iPod intf (only charges gen 3) CF card, CD, a fixed - not pop-up - screen, better seats *with memory*. 4WS, adaptive cruise ctl, drive-sport mode - as he said above, holds gears longer, also, doesn't go into manual mode until you shift up or down. PLENTY worth $9K more - even though I still got a 5AT, 7AT's were added in 2009. I put Injen short-ram CAI's - now made by Stillen/K&N. Ran great for 10 years, but I got that itch... Traded it in on loaded 2017 Camaro SS - 455HP/455TQ is quite a change, with bells & whistles out the wazoo... But I do miss my G37S and I should have traded for G37xS or Q60S AWD, and added Procharger or Stillen SC... Oh well, guess I'll go out and rip up the street for a while...
@anonymoussavior27515 жыл бұрын
@Auto blipper Interior rattling? I had an 07 with the same problem. It's common on normal brands, one of the main "luxury" features of the higher quality brand counterparts is better interior quality, so usually it won't have the same problems because they focus more on making sure the interior is much better, since that's mostly what people who buy those cars care about

My dad had a G35 coupe followed by a G37 coupe. Both rear wheel drive. Both automatic. They were decent, and I actually liked the G35 quite a bit. The interior was more distinctive than the G37, and the handling was a little more neutral than the 350Z of the same period. They were odd choices for a guy with two kids and no other cars, but we got by(it helped that my sister is only 5'5" tall now, and she was shorter back in 2005). @@projectspectre7987 2011, it was the highest trim aswell. I got it for 13,500, in utah. It only had 70,000 miles and was in very good condition. The same dealership just sold a G37 S coupe for 17,995, with 90,000. But it was a manual and it was on Bags. Which both Mark the price higher.

So, I'm coming back from my sister's T'giving dinner in Pottstown, in my week old G37. I'm coming down 422E, cruise control set about 70, listening to the Bose, when the adaptive CC hit the brakes, bringing me down to 5mph. I had rounded a curve into a sea of brake lights - this was the first year they opened the outlet stores on Thanksgiving night to get a jump on Black Friday sales. I patted the dash and said "Good car, I wasn't expecting that!"

At 2015071 when this car was new, yeah, but now I'd characterize them as good looking cars where development was put into the wrong areas, like the steer by wire sport model, and their bad infotainment systems that have two vertically stacked screens like you have a giant DS in your dash.

You're so right poor in the US is like the elite richest people here. High end executives in their late 40's early 50's here can only afford like a new Corolla and people stare and talk shit.
@DarrenPersad7 жыл бұрын
That's not it - poor here is poor regardless, but we're a developed nation. So even our "poor" standards of living can be higher than a country like India or Haiti. But you also have to consider cost of living and buying power of money here. It's damn expensive to live here, so even if you're making $30,000 a year, that just isn't enough to properly live on if you're supporting a family and own a house and car. But a car like this can be had for low money - the manufacturers get you on maintenance costs though. The vast majority of people can't do basic maintenance on their own cars, and that's especially true for the typical "luxury" buyer, so once costs starts racking up (or they want the next best thing), they dump their old car for low money to some poor, unsuspecting fool who thinks he or she's getting the deal of a lifetime, and when they can't maintain it, those garage and parts bills get way up there. Buying cars aren't the problem here, it's everything else that comes after.
@XxChocoTacoxX7 жыл бұрын
It also helps that creditors are looking to get you onto a payment plan. You might be surprised how low a monthly can be if you're willing to go long enough. $250/mo isn't terrible, until you realize you'll be paying for the next 8 - 10 years, rain or shine. Then, as Darren mentioned, maintenance.

I have a 2012 g37xS coupe. Basically this car but in red. Got it from the original owner (some old lady whose husband bought it for her) in PA, from the Infinity dealership it was originally purchased at, with low miles. Probably never went over the speed limit, and was bone stock. The review was pretty spot on, it's jack of all trades. If you work the gears (and after the sport mode learns your driving style) it can be fun and somewhat scary. But it really does offer me everything I want: it's reliable, has AWD (great for the northeast), is forgiving if you want to drive like an idiot (drives on rails, little body roll, and good brakes), has luxury, and is common enough to easily get parts and add-ons for. It's a shame that the people who get the high mileage ones put green rims on it, hot air intakes, kazoo exhausts, and RGB lights, then ruin it for everyone else.

G37X coupe owner here. Pulls good. Pulls GOOD. Not bad, not great, GOOD. Pretty comfy. Comfier than a Camry, not comfier than a Bimmer. It’s good at everything. Not bad or great at much. The only absolute pro is that it’s smooth as can be, and the absolute con is it’s gas mileage is pretty sub par compared to other cars in its class. It gets the job done, doesn’t let me down, and I’m not gonna try and impress anyone with it. I enjoy driving it hard, and that’s enough.

My friend owns one of these. Can confirm, It's a nice car. Typically these (Nissan in general) stand out from the crowd due to their sportier handling. This slight boat of a car even handles autocross pretty well because Nissan didn't really neuter the suspension geometry like a lot of manufacturers do with big cars. That's really it's main niche though, its only series niche in the market, well that and these engines sound pretty good straight piped or with just a resonator or two. It's pretty good sounding 6 when you uncork it.
@ridcom7 жыл бұрын
I get the feeling he doesn't like the G27xS. I think I get it, though. It's not a 350z or a 370z, so most Nissan(or most JDM fans for that matter) won't care, and it's not a BMW or a Mercedes(even though it can outrun most stock non M Series and non AMG, C and E-Class), so upper middle class will turn their noses up at it. To them, it's like Mark Zuckerburg trying to fit in with John D. Rockefeller. He can have all the money he wants, but the old money prestige just isn't there.

Sebastian Torres Sagredo it's also noteworthy to say that all assumptions we make about make and model of the car are pure speculation, since all we have is a 15x45 sqpixel sprite of the car. It could be anything from Alfa Romeo to Zagato, but a psychological analysis and characterization (like mr Regular practises it from time to time in episodes) of the average buyer/"user" of a certain car points to the group of cars which the Mazda MX-5 Miata NB is a part of.
