The second range trip was a success building on the success of the first range trip. This rifle is a lot of fun to shoot but the fun must come to an end because I need to get this rifle back to my uncle ASAP!! Y’all have a great one!

I own a first year 1915 250-3000 takedown and a 1935 99R in that chambering. The 99R took two doe back to back two seasons ago. The bigger one walked about 20' and dropped and the smaller one flipped on her back, kicked 3 times and DRT. No blood trails, none necessary. The hydrostatic shock of my 87gr handloads essentially liquefied the vitals. This round kills way better than it gets credit for. Thank you for sharing.

I'm late to add a reply, but I can say that the load discussed is the exact same one I have ended up loading for my Savage 99A. It worked great on the one deer I shot with the .250. Equally accurate for me was 32.5 grains of the same powder; I may go to that in future since it may reduce case stretching (34.5 grains of 4064 did this). Thanks for this video, Bob

The slow twist in those old guns prevents some 100 gr bullets from stabilizing. Some will, however. I used my Hornady Comparator to measure the bearing surface of all the 100 gr pills on my shelf. Then I loaded up a small batch of all of them. Not surprisingly, the longer ones didn't seem to be stabilizing while the shorter ones did. I believe that the Sierra 90 gr HPBT was designed just for those old slow-twist guns. Thanks for posting!

Yea I really wanted to try the 117gr Hornady RN Interlock but I just don’t have the time and it’s not my rifle so I didn’t want to go down a long load development path.

I shoot same gun (mine from 1922) and cartridge. I reload for it but want to thank you for showing how well you were able to dial in a load. I will be trying to make some improvements once components become available. I would love to hear how your uncle did in hunting season with the 87 grain.

Duck Creek Sporting Goods still has some brass...I believe it’s Winchester brand if you’re looking for any. That rifle is so much fun to shoot!

You did very well pulling charges out of air and having groups like those.. definitely better then minute of deer.. Good deal on the 06 and your dad getting a deer. Must of missed the rifle video.. 100 year old rifle that still shoots as well as that did is definitely something to cherish.
