Here I am and I held up my end of the bargain. I actually haven't been able to bring myself to watch the live version of this since losing my best friend, Jj, in December. I'm glad I watched it for the first time with your reactions because I went from sobbing to laughing to sobbing to laughing again. Chinchillas voice is so hauntingly beautiful. I was diagnosed at 5 and then again as an adult. Like fuck, I felt that as well. The dead bodies of thoughts... trying to avoid the thoughts of what I could of done, what I didn't do different. I don't think I have to relate too much more to how this song speaks to every feeling and emotion I've had since Dec. 10th. The last line though... It was a quick decision made on in the middle of the night for Jj. I had just talked to her that day and we were talking about the next semester and her interview. Her mom talked to her 15 minutes before as well. Anyways 😂😂😂 Thank you for this. I needed those tears and the laughter.... and I especially needed the live version of this. So I'll be here for more. 😂

When I hear this song - one of my very favorite Ren songs - I think about the feeling of being lost, adrift, crushed internally from grief and loss. Not feeling like yourself because you’re absorbed by pain, by the memories and experiences you can’t get away from, and altogether they make you feel like you’re not you. Maybe everything was fine and good, then suddenly something so wrenching and painful happens that your prior life doesn’t fit. Nothing seems to fit, and it’s baffling because you desperately want to go back to the time before it all changed. You want to be who you were, and it’s terrifying knowing you can’t get there anymore. Wondering if the grief will always cloud who you are. Or at least, that’s what this song means to me. Having been through a life-changing, gut-wrenching experience I know I am not who I was. I felt unable to be me for years. Even now, I’m a different me. This song hits my soul.

What's sonically pleasing to one person can be different to another. I do think his vocal ability is underrated particularly when he collabs with talented artists that he chooses to work with like Ruby, Chinchilla and Sam. He never tries to outshine anyone. I respect that about him.

This melody and singing duet sounds straight out of the late 40s early 50s to me. The non lyrical vocalizing reminds me of Black doo-wop groups in the US. Then it’s kind of a folkish song and even uses round but it’s so OLD sounding. Like it’s coming from a cave on a windy night.

I told you in some previous comment, that you have what it takes to match the layers in his lyrics. This your reaction is a good example, you get the layers. And I enjoy.
