I had same problem with my Skoda superb 2014 .since I,'ve changed its oil pressure switch , everything back to normal spot on.

thank you so much. today that red oil pressure light came on with that bopping noise on my 02 audi 1.8. im going to replace that swich, hopefully its not the oil pick up tube!!!!

Same that what i hoping but mine does after 10 miles and goes off and when take oil cap off i get oil coming up top so guessing faulty sensor

The harness was faced the other way so I used an open wrench to loosen it, turned it my way then was able to get to the tab. Took me a bit longer as I dropped the new sensor in the engine lol, but found it and finished the job. Thanks for posting.

Is it in the same spot on a 01 audi a4 1.8t?

It’s my understanding that the Audi A4 1.8t is the same. So, yes, it should be located in same location.

I just bought a 2002 Passat 1.8T. I knew it had a oil pressure problem. I removed and cleaned oil pickup tube which was very clean except had large plastic/crystal deposits 3-5 mm. Tube was partially clogged. The stop engine oil warning still comes on . I was told oil pump was tested already. Question- is this where I check oil pressure? How do you test when driving. It doesn’t come on until I drive it a bit

You can replace the oil pressure sensor for relatively cheap. If the light goes off then you know that was the issue. It’s located on drivers side towards the back firewall. Reference my video for the location.

It's not the oil pressure sensor. It's usually battery, fuel issue or firing issue. You should be able to put symptoms in google and find trouble shooting guide to find your issue.

I replaced mine and the sensor light is still on. When I connect the connector it doesn’t make a click noise and comes off fairly easy. Should I be pushing harder till it clicks? Or did autozone give me a faulty sensor

You should push the connector on until you hear a click.

I have a problem that when I turn on the car I get the yellow oil level warning light and it tells me to check the oil but on the plate it is at max, is the sensor on the sump?

Sorry I’m just getting to your comment. The oil pressure switch is located just above oil cooler on driver side towards back of engine. If there is a oil level sensor, I’m not familiar with the location.

My vw cc says “oil pressure engine off” do you think I just need to replace the sensor? The warning only shows when I start it in the morning once the car gets warmer it stop showing check engine light? You think it’s just the sensor?

It could be. I would change it first since it’s an easy and cheap fix. If it continues you have a more serious problem that needs addressed. You do not want to drive any amount of time without knowing the oil pressure issue is resolved or you will ruin your motor.

The first time this happened I took my 2008 VW Golf 4motion to the garage and they changed the oil and said, problem solved, but quite a few months later it started again, so changed the oil again and it stopped... for a while. Recently the garage said I still didn't need an oil change, and it was the right level so I have been driving for many months with the light once in a while blinking and beeping at me, should I be worried?

I would check the oil pressure sensor first. If it's leaking that will be an indication that's it. I would not ignore the warning light. It could be the pickup tube in the oil pan is getting intermittently blocked or oil pump is getting weak. Again, I would not ignore the issue.

I have an 02 1.8t and my STOP oil pressure light used to come on at around operating temp, 190, but wouldnt come on under that temp so ofcourse I kept driving it. It runs fine and havent manually checked pressure but this morning, its winter here, its running 150 degrees and the STOP light came on again. Now im no expert on vws by any means but I drove this car well over 15,000 miles with intermittent STOP light coming on and off but do you presume its a faulty oil pressure sensor then? Ive done everything but drop the pan as far as cleaning the pickup tube and what not, and I mean EVERYTHING. Thoughts??? Thanks

It could be a faulty oil pressure sensor. I would change that first as it's not too expensive or too hard to do. Sometimes the sensor will be leaking and that's an indication that's the problem. If not that, then probably need to drop the pan to check for clogged pickup tube.

I actually dug into in last weekend and found my oil pressure connector was broken and slowly sliding off causing the low oil light. A few zip ties later she hasnt came back on since ;)

If I remember correctly, you lift the tab and pull the connector away from the sensor.

It’s hard to know what’s going on with your engine. If the engine is making a noise and the oil pressure stop motor light is on you probably have serious engine problem. I’m only speculating but you should have a mechanic look at it.

Yes. If it is leaking it is a key indicator it need replaced.

I have changed the oil pressure switch but it still shows oil pressure sign on the cluster and stop

Try unhooking your battery for awhile and plug it back in. When you plug it back in all the lights should be off but the ones that come back on would mean there’s still something wrong. At the point you’d have to plug in a code reader for free, and that will tell you. AutoZone let’s you used their code reader for free

If the light continues to stay on, you have a bigger issue. You would most likely need to remove the oil pan and inspect whether oil pick up is clogged. If not, you most likely have a bad oil pump. I would not run the vehicle for any length of time as you may damage the engine.

Oil will spurt out if you leave the sensor out and try to start the car. If the oil pump isn't working it may not but never tried that. You can attach a pressure gage and measure the oil pressure to confirm you don't have a bad oil pump. If the sensor is installed and oil is leaking it usually means it's a faulty oil sensor. Hope this helps.

Ok I got you now. lol I put a rag underneath when I removed the sensor but no oil came out. Better to be precautionary in my view.
