I’m rebuilding my late husband‘s 95 Chevy Silverado, I’m 61. Needed a new fuel pump and I refused to pay $1200 in labor. I built my own truck bed hoist out of old 4 x 4‘s and a chain hoist (gas tank was full). Lifted the bed , start a replacing the fuel pump and noticed the tank was full of rest. So I ended up draining the fuel and dropping the tank. Learned not to crush the new tank from your video! Didn’t even know that was a possibility, but thank you. Ended up in the hospital with a blood clot in my leg so two months later I had to come back to your awesome informative video to refresh my memory on which fuel line went where. Once again, thank you for taking the time you have no idea how helpful you’ve been to me. I have to have the truck to haul the firewood I cut otherwise I’ll freeze in this Georgia cabin.

Your husband would be proud of you. This is really nice that you do this! The newer Fuel Pumps all come with GT280 connector. Companies do this to replace the existing Metri-Pack 150 connector, which has developed a reputation to be unreliable. In the process they are giving you a pigtail (little piece of aftermarket harness) that you have connect to the existing wiring harness. This is how most people are doing it and admittingly this is how I have done it as well. BUT there is a better way. More involved, but definitely MUCH, MUCH better. I wish I had thought of it, when I have done mine. OK, so the better way is to MOUNT that GT280 connector to the existing wiring harness VIA GT280 pins. Meaning, you would remove the pins out of the GT280 connector housing that came with your fuel pump (they will be crimped with some wire) and then find the same pins un-crimped AND crimpe those to your existing harness and then reinsert them into the GT280 connector. So in essense this would MOUNT a GT280 connector to your existing harness WITHOUT an aftermaket-crimp-connection in between. You would need a special crimp tool for the GT280 connector. But wow, if you would do it this way, this would really be THE most professional way to do this. I probably writing about it this much for remorse. But hey, also I like to help and I find your story very touching and in a way heart warming. My best wishes to you. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Most informative easy to understand how-to videos I have ever watched. Thank you so much for making them. I am in the middle of raising the bed on my '93 Gmc Sierra 1500 xc to replace a faulty fuel pump. I can't imagine myself without a truck. I bought my first wife's father's '69 Chevy for $800 in 1972 and drove it for 11 1/2 years putting 129k miles on it then sold it for $800. That's cheap transportation! Old Chevys and GMC trucks die hard.

Just found your channel. You do some really meticulous work. Subscribed just for that alone already (and for more). Can't wait to see this truck in service again. I have a 1999 Tahoe 4x4. I had it since 2000. Daily driver for almost 20 years, last 3 years in the garage and just for the occasional joyride or moving it a bit to maintain. Always garaged though, even at my workplace. It is as nice as it can be, for a daily driver with great care. Other than the 3x warranty jobs during its infancy, I am the only one who is working on it. It has a detailed logbook with every repair that I have ever done, including every part every used as well as my side notes and observations. Not selling though. 😉

Right off the bat a washer falls into the old tank and why aren't you protecting the inlets to keep debris out and that fuel pump strainer is dirty enough to replace. Why risk it.the grounds and electrical connections are important and should be mentioned.at least you wore gloves
