What you forgot to take into account is that the merchant only pays you 50% of an item's actual value (or what he sells them for). So if he buys an egg for 300ptas, that means it's actual value is 600ptas, so the big mac's price is actually double of what you calculated.

I love how they lean into this in the remake. The merchant has a line that basically says that whether it's junk or jewels, the price is up to him. He also frequently reminds you that you can save your valuables or save your life. He knows well that Leon doesn't have a choice, and he controls the market entirely. I love this man.

My favorite joke about this game is that the merchant is a retired member of ETA and even has the rocket launcher that was used in the attempted assassination of president Aznar.

I was not expecting a pleasantly informative breakdown on the history of Spanish currency in a video about Leon and Ashley purchasing Big Macs in said defunct currency.

You forgot that the Merchant buys things off you at a reduced price so he can mark it up for a profit. What you need to do is see the percentage markup he does on something he does sell compared to when Leon sells it back, and apply THAT to the sale price of the egg so that you'll have a hypothetical price of what the merchant would sell the egg for.

How? easy! the war lasted too long and the population of soldiers dwindled. There was far too few men left in need of a gun. So aye, I could totally see a world where a big mac costs $87 compared to the $5 shotgun.

Why don't leon just eat the egg?

For my first playthrough of 4, I pretty much pocketed every rare treasure I could find so that when Leon gets home he'd now have so much awesome swag to decorate his house with.

Resident evil 4 is my first Resident evil game and I didn't finally beat the game until a decade later due to being a kid, not owning the game and life. I love this game and Leon. Also it's so funny how Leon is so similar to Dante in here.

I wonder if there's any consistent price to the pokedollar, I assume it's like yen and people just buy pokeballs for ~$1 but there could be other exercises across the series. There are probably dozens of currencies that get weird especially in strategy/rpg context, Civilization plays loose with the value of gold but it does imply you are able to pay troops or rush their construction with it, don't know how long that video will go. Wouldn't mind an occasional purchase parody analysis for anything and how much a Big Mac would be in that world or jump through some hoops to get one for zelda rupees or something.
