Restoration Rusty Bayonet Knife - Is That Replica?

Hello folks! Today I will show you the restoration and modification of the bayonet knife. Presumably a replica of an English bayonet knife from the WW1. I bought it cheap, I wanted to know if I could make a reliable handle, where is the thread of the tang. Well, let's start restoring the knife.
The first duty was to clean the object with a rust remover, and by the way, to stop the acid process on the metal surface, you need to place the object in warm water with soda.
Next, I dried the bayonet and began cleaning its surface with sand.
The next step is processing the knife on a sanding machine. Redrawing the tip of the knife, false blade and bevels. Next, manual sanding of the blade and polishing.
The handle of the bayonet knife - here I had to come up with something of my own, I used a piece of mild steel for the base. With the help of welding welding, it was possible to welded reliably. After processing and cleaning the seam after welding, I began to form the shape of the handle. For this I used a gas burner, hammer and a sanding machine.
The material for the handle I used thick soft leather, beech wood and brass rivets. After gluing the handle, I processed it and started making a scabbard. It was funny and interesting - for the first time I used a deer horn for a scabbard. It turned out interesting. And of course at the end of the video I did a bayonet knife test. Thank you all for your attention
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

The moment that rusty metal box appeared, my first thought was: "I would like to see it being restored next!". And then it got killed.... Maybe it can be restored anyway - I hope, at least. Great to see Curtain Cat again, too bad that guard on the bayonet was fitted upside down. As for the looks of the restored knife - we love our children not because they are pretty, but because they are our children. What is important is the effort and work that you put into restoring that knife, with all the skill you have and heart-warming dedication. And that alone makes this knife beautifull beyound mere pleasant looks. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

Hello, how well you answered and made a comparison. You're right, thank you. For me, the most interesting thing in this work was: 1) To make a new handle that will stand the test 2) Come up with an unusual scabbard 3) And conduct a fun test for you I'm glad you liked it

Isn’t nice to the proper tools for the job at hand ? Nice sandblaster you have .It sure beats the heck out of running down the street to borrow your neighbours.

I would love to see that fitted on a rifle, replica or not 😅😅😅 I think the curve on the handle would hamper the fitting. I've seen knives made from files before which have not been heat treated properly and bits will snap off, like the point and tang. Well done on producing a better knife out of the bad one ✔️ 👍
