Restore Rubber Car / Van Mats Back To Black Cheap & Quick - Cherry Blossom Polish

In this short video I cover how I restore my van rubber mat in the cab flooring from a tired worn grey rubber back to black and shiny black floor mat using Cherry Blossom (See link below). The rubber mat is given a good scrub to remove the years of dirt built up in the mat, sprayed with a deep clean cleaner then cherry blossom polish applied to bring the mat back to black and shiny. The cherry blossom application takes about 5-10 minutes per coat and once left to dry, more layers can be built up. I only do 2 coats of cherry blossom and the difference it makes to the floor mat is amazing, I showed a friend who instantly asked if I had replaced the mat with a new one, thats how good it's brought it up.

Wow what a great result, just cleaned mine today but this never crossed my mind to use this. my next day off I will be doing this to my van flooring, thanks for sharing!! If I remember rightly my old dad used to do the same with his black vinyl roof on his Cortina back in the 70s. Some things never change lol

Used to do this with kiwi boot polish and shoe brushes 30 years ago in my trucks, much prefer the liquid stuff nowadays, so much easier.

Wow! I took the flooring out of my van today (it used to be a prison shuttle; so it's all vinyl and rubber inside! I usually clean it inside using a pressure washer! No luxuries; but it's the heaviest in its class and as a prison van the roof and panels are as solid as a school bus!) I was looking for a way to take the floor back to black; but want to preserve the solid rubber floor. Never know when I might be taking a deer back to the special habitat I've set up inside my freezer! I've used shoe polish to restore vinyl and rubber on my motorbike; why didn't I think of this? I'm gonna do this after I install the sound deadening panels (the original reason for taking out the floor). Thanks for the tip!

Hiya. Thanks for the demo. I have just done the dashboard in my T5 yesterday, and while I'm loving the change in colour, I'm finding it way too shiny, and I think I would prefer a more satin finish. Can you please tell me if it mellows out with a bit of time, or should I be considering a different product?

If use the same stuff and turn them black, might take a few coats but I’d get the job done, or I’ve heard of strange things like using peanut butter for the oils to help restore plastics.

Could you do this as a way of coloring floor mats? As in turning light colored mats to black with this process?

possibly but it would take a lot of applications and would look terrible for a while but persevere and keep applying it and it should come out ok

Yes people use it on door cards & dash, you just need to apply 4-5 coats otherwise it will look patchy, just keep going bottle after bottle until it all looks good & uniform
