I’ve been using the Canon C200 for over a year, this is my review on what I believe is one of the best Cinema Cameras you can buy in today's competitive market. I talk about why I switched from Sony FS7 to Canon C200, about downsides and upsides.

Amazing video! I have the C200 and a lot of people are talking shit about it since it doesn't have 10-bit but I think the 8-bit looks pretty good! More videos about grading etc! :)

Exactly. just shoot in WideDR mode when you shoot in 8bit. It bakes straight away beautiful color, that don't much corrections. Not a deal breaker to me for my purposes at all.

absolutely love the work you’ve produced out the C200. i’m also a C200 user, i would love if you made a video or had any tips for exposing and color grading C200 Raw Footage in Davinci Resolve. Thank you and once again awesome video.

Thanks. The exposing on this camera is pretty much straight forward, no need to overexpose or underexpose. But yeah, I'll make a video about colorgrading RAW footage from this camera.

Hugo Will on the Canon C200 Mark ii can I shot the 10 Bit Wide DR straight onto the SD Cards like with the 8 Bit. As that would really make me want to purchase this camera.

I needed to see this video. 1 question, what settings do you use to balance your c200 with the 18-35 sigma lense on the ronin s? I have that same setup but it struggles with the weight

Hello 👋 are you Russian or something close, I hear it when you said Sony FS7, I’m having a sigma 18-35 and also saving money to buy c200 and also like you I think this is the best all round camera for solo DP, nice review

Thanks. I'm from Ukraine originally. FS7 is a great camera. But I personally enjoy C200 a lot more.

Super helpful bro! Was bidding on a Sony FS7. First cinema camera, it’s selling for £2500 with a lot of extras. The C200 going for £3500 more. If you could afford it and had to get one which one would you go for and would you say the extra is you went for C200 is justified?

I had FS7 before C200 and FS7 was more expensive camera at the time than c200.

@@HugoWill Ah, I take that as you definitely recommend the C200. The money saved and the recognition of the Sony is tempting, and I heard the RAW on the C200 is hard to grade - though I have seen all your videos and you make your footage look grate so really not sure what they were talking about - but the auto focus is really something I don’t want to not have

Man...you must be working with a totally different level of clientele than me. I'm thinking about the C200 to help get to the next tier of client who looks at the GH5 or BMPCC4K and wonders if its good enough because its so much smaller. Haha. That's wild that everywhere in the industry there's always a "next level". Probably some people who have REDs get questioned about it if can compete with Arri Alexas...the never ending gear cycle. Thankfully in my market MOST (not all of course) clients just look at the work, not the gear.

there is an ending circle, it's just expensive. Get an Alexa Mini LF and there won't be any camera that can be better.

Would you still recommend this camera if I was only going to shoot in 8bit mp4? I mostly film weddings so shooting raw would be overkill, such a shame there is no 10bit.

yes, it's still a great quality 8bit. just shoot in WideDR and this way colors will be baked in before files become 8bit.

@@HugoWill Thanks for the tip mate! But I had already bought the Panasonic S5 instead. I feel like the c200 would have been overkill for me if I wouldn't use the raw, and I would rather have that full frame 10bit.

Great review man. I’ve been using the C200 more and more over the last 12 months. It’s a solid camera that I know I can depend on. Do you use WideDR over CLOG3? Or both?

when I shoot in Raw it's by default sets to C-log2 which is the flattest color profile canon can do. But when I shoot in MP4, I usually use WideD, simply because it bakes the color before it actually exports in 8bit. and WideDR in general is a great profile with balanced DR and colors.
