This movie was my childhood! I literally watched it every week even in summer. I love it with all my heart and it just brings me that good kind of nostalgia.

Correction: Rudolph is NOT in the public domain. Robert Lewis May (the author of the original book) died in 1976. This means Rudolph will be in the public domain in 2046 at least in USA. (death of author + 70 years)

I too watched this version of the story over and over as a child. I loved it, it was my favourite christmas movie... and I too watched it in spanish!! ...but I think you are judging the 'romance' a little too harsh... look, I too had the spanish version where she's calling both of them just friends and Arrow seemes to have no reason to be jealous. But even if they where dating, that doesent mean he has the right to be jeallows, possesive and an asshole to anyone else. Does she have no right to have friends becouse she's dating someone? or to doubt her relationship with this bully? I also don't think they where together as kids, becouse, well, they where just kids! Its pretty ovbious Zoey liked Rudolph but hung arround Arrow for peer preasure. I still see an upgrade in the fact that she has more protagonishm in this movie. Yeah, she messes up at one point and needs to be rescued, but so does everyone else! Anyways, meybe we are both reading too much into this, 'cause the script writers probably didn't think a lot about it either...

Zoey is kind of unlikable. She is dating another guy but clearly putting the moves on Rudolph yet calling their relationship "just friends" while sending him mixed signals. Are we supposed to like this character because she is clearly not forced to date Arrow if she could just break up with him. Writers this not how you create a love triangle. It just makes your female love interest look for a lack of a better word a "thot". Just saying, don't be surprised if Rudolph's kid looks suspiciously like another buck. :p

If Zoey clearly likes Rudolph, why would she be dating Arrow? That makes no sense! Especially considering the fact that she literally kisses him before the breakup.

I hated this movie as a kid. I much prefer the Rankin Bass movie. Better songs, better characters, better lessons, and the best Rankin Bass character ever Yukon Cornelius.

To be fair with the ethnicity thing, most of the main cast aren't exactly human, although it would have been nice if they were ethnic coded at the least.
