It’s so encouraging seeing the older years! I just filmed TGTB new preschool we’re about to start and their birds unit-so a little ways off from high school😂 very encouraging video, thanks! New sub!

Hi Christina! Hope you are all having a lovely summer ☺️ I had a few questions just as your review was getting started but as always you answered them. Thank you for always being so thorough! Now that you have moved, are there any changes to how you have to keep/provide records or has that stayed the same? I would be really interested to hear more about how your are keeping the transcripts for your children. A few families have mentioned experiencing transition shock with regards to the GatB high school levels after being used to the daily lessons of the lower grades. I think we will find that initially daunting too but - as you mentioned with your son - it sounds like the perfect step towards self-management and becoming college-ready. Eek! We took a little break from GatB LA for my eldest this last school year, opting for a textbook that is often used by private schools here in the UK combined with literature studies and our usual Shakespeare but we are wholeheartedly coming back to GatB this year as we both really missed it! (Even the sentence diagramming! 😲 ) The GatB has such a calming influence in our home: I cannot quite put my finger on it. We will be incorporating a bit more of Writing with Skill and Ancient History Themed IEW writing this coming year to supplement as writing is what I feel we really need to focus on and it will complement our going back to the beginning of the history cycle. Like you, it’s the one area where I feel that GatB could provide a bit more direction and instruction for those that are not natural writers. My youngest is going to be trying out the newly-released Level 2. There seems to be a lot of crossover from the old Level 1 so I think we may go through it quite quickly but it’s always good to know that they have a solid foundation before moving on. I had planned to use the old Level 2 but then I saw the new one and my daughter spotted the stickers for the new reading cards whilst I was watching the release video for it 🙈😅 Do you have any children trying the new levels this year and now that you have invested in books for the high school levels, will you stick to the current edition for the rest of your children, even if newer versions come out? Sorry I did not mean to write so much and I thought of more questions as I went on 😳😅 🤦🏻‍♀️ Best wishes to you and yours. Hanna x

I love reading your comments! New Brunswick only requires a letter of registration so it is very, very different from Alberta. I haven't made any formal transcripts yet because high school is considered grade 10 to 12 here. For the younger levels I will continue to use the same editions since we already have everything. I am trying the new level 4 next year and will probably continue to with the higher editions since I will have multiple children use them.

Relieved that you don’t find the comments and questions annoying! 🤣 Love following your journey and hearing how you are all getting on. Your son’s artwork was beautiful by the way. My eldest is overly-critical of his work too. Looking forward to your next video. Hope you all have a lovely day!x

This was an excellent review. Thank you! Did you decide to go with HS2 with TGTB this year? We are looking to change our English program for my 9/10 grader and would love to know if Level 2 is working out as well as Level 1 did.

We've never used The Good and the Beautiful curriculum, but I'm thinking about using the language arts high school for the first time for my son. I just don't want to spend the money and then have him hate it.

The PDF prices are pretty good- that's what I do. I did purchase the books though, as I have 5 children who will go through them.

When you say the writing needs more guidance, can you clarify? Is the curriculum thorough in writing instruction? Or did you feel you yourself had to add instruction to it?

I feel like there aren’t many writing assignments and when they do it’s lacking in-depth information about the steps to take and how to put it all together.

Do you feel this covers enough geography to get a credit?
@OneMamaToAnother
@OneMamaToAnother Жыл бұрын
I don't do credits so I can't really answer that. However, I know on TGTB website they do a breakdown of credits for each HS level so I'd suggest having a look a that.

I think they say it is 1/2 credit of geography.
