Yes, that's true, how sad that Harold Gould (Martin), Nancy Walker (Ida), Valerie Harper (Rhoda), David Groh (Joe), Lorenzo Music (Carlton) and Ron Silver (Gary Levy) have all passed away now; for the time it takes to watch an episode you can suspend time/reality and enjoy the wonderful comedy the cast of Rhoda brought into our living rooms. Maybe not a bad idea to take a leaf out of the book, albeit a comedy show, and actually share real feelings, thoughts and dreams with those you are close to - they may surprise you, it would be better than beginning a sentence "I wish" but it being too late, a lost opportunity.

When my Dad turned 80 in 1989, I had all of our home movies xfer'd over to VHS. The movies went from 1945 to 1958. My Dad who was a very stoic German told me it was the best birthday present he ever got. Years later after both my parents had passed I came across the tape. Didn't have a VHS player anymore. So I had it xfer'd over to DVD. Every now and then I'll play it and be reminded how much this meant to my Dad.

@@spiff8862 You sound like a really nice person and a good son. My father was German too (he passed away in 2004); he came here from Berlin with his uncle when he was 17, back in '49. He once told me that he had learned a lot of English from American comic books.

@@eduardo_corrochio thanks for the nice comment re: my dad. My older brother had a very difficult time as at the age of 12 learning to read. Summer of 1956 between elementary school and junior high, he started reading comic books. The comic books clicked with him and he became a avid reader. Later on he became a History Teacher and went for his Master's.

Just re-watched this and actually teared up when Harold Gould apologizes for having a fantasy where he was remembered for creating something important; after viewing his home movie of his family, he realized how he had done that very thing. lt reminded how one New Years Eve way back in 1978, as my best friend's big extended family was gathered toasting in the holiday by recalling their expectations and hopes for the future, my friend's ordinarily someone quiet father surprised everyone when it was his turn to speak by simply saying how grateful he was to have the people he cared about most gathered together for one brief moment. l had forgotten it until now and this show reminded me: in the detritus of years it shimmers evermore as a gift.

I am not lonely , just like being alone and I realize that could be the case for my whole life , and though will have many friends again , though have many in the world , I always find great company in reading , music and the lap top which in South Florida has been my life line and where can keep up with my shows , earn money and get the around the world , watch movies etc. It is very sad , shocking but that is what has come to that a platform like social media is where find like minded people especially when being in the US where it is easy to not mix with the people here because they made it that way for various reasons .

After awhile it becomes quite pathetic. All this constant worrying about non-existent weight seems to be the general theme of this entire show.
@CarolAnnNapolitano
@CarolAnnNapolitano 8 жыл бұрын
Does anyone else besides me think Rhoda's to thin? She even lost here boobs. Why did she have to get that thin? When a woman loses that much weight in their boobs, makes me wonder if they ate enough protein. I know breast tissue isn't muscle, but seems like she starved herself. Been there, done that. I like these episodes more than the one's in the beginning when she was with Joe. The show just starts and she gets married, I felt that was too fast, there wasn't any episodes about her and her family that much, then it's Joe, this, and Joe that. I like it better without him, he was a cutie though. I always had the feeling he was gonna hurt her, i don't know why, I just did. I think it was because she was so clingy, always thinking he would, I was waiting for him to be a jerk to her, not that I wanted him to, it just felt that way. I was so upset when I heard Valarie was sick. I think so many people love her, that all those good thoughts saved her. We don't realize how powerful our thoughts can be when we put them together as one. I hope she stays well.

I visit my mother every chance I get. We talk on the phone every day. My father passed away in 2013. I miss him dearly. I am so grateful for my parents.

The writing from 7:19 to 8:01 is so bad it’s painful to watch. Poor Harold Gould, who had to say those lines...

This is kind of a weird episode. Here you have 4 people loaded with charisma who can never stop talking, yet they can't get through a dinner conversation? The writers were DESPERATE. Even the parts with the home movies, altho cute, seems just too contrived.

No. She's been living with the same guy (producer David Davis) since 1976.
