Riding Mower won't move? This video discusses how the clutch applies tension to the drive belt and how it works. If your mower won't move, this video will help point you troubleshoot the clutch, the belt, and pulleys to help find the issue fast. Don't assume you need a rear end or expensive parts without checking these first!

Finally someone with an answer to why mover going so slow. Put on a new drive belt still a bit of slack. New belt was the same length as old one that was cracked and had missing pieces. Did they sell me the wrong belt.

pull back on the clutch pedal with your foot to take the slack out manually and see if it pulls better. If it does, lube that pedal pivot point up with something and maybe shorten the return spring some, or possibly replace it.

Very helpful, the belt on mine dig itself in one of those plastic pulley, I took off that pulley and dig out the plastic or some of the belt, cause my la105 stop moving, I'm thinking the belt got stuck on the pulley

the pulleys will rub through eventually, luckily they’re cheap to replace

My drive belt is slipping. It started when the tensioner spring broke, I lost pull/drive. I replaced the spring, belt and pulleys and it now pulls but barley. With my weight on the mower it will not pull me and the belt is slipping and will barley grab the trans pully to make the tractor go forward or reverse. It’s like the belt needs to be tighter but I replaced it with the matching belt. I’m stumped. I’ve made sure the bracket holding the tensioner pulleys works correctly. When you release the brake the belt gets tighter but not tight enough to pull the mower. Thoughts?

Try pulling back on the brake pedal with your foot. If that helps, you possibly put the spring in the wrong hole, not allowing it to get enough tension for the belt to grab. If you have a new (properly routed) belt and the correct sized pulleys, the spring is really the only thing that could prevent you from getting enough tension on the belt. Good luck!

@@wecanfixit7308 I just found the problem after sending that comment. I removed the brake safety switch and the plastic switch was keeping the brake from fully releasing to put tension on the belt. Lmao I just rode around the yard w a beer bc I was so happy lol. Thanks. Good video

Here's what I'm seeing and I'm curious if it is correct: After replacing the two pulleys and the drive belt, the previous noise I heard when the brake is released is gone. It was the rattle of the two drive pulleys being bad. Now, I heard a little bit of racket when the brake IS ENGAGED. I took a look underneath and the drive pulley is running in little fits and starts. It has enough slack in it that it's whipping a bit on the forward return side. Is the drive belt supposed to move at all with the brake engaged? Do I loosen the tensioner? Or is this normal for a new belt to be a little tight and it will eventually relax?

try disconnecting the cable from the arm entirely and see if the belt is still trying to engage. If it is still trying to grab, recheck your routing and make sure you don't have a twist in the belt somewhere causing it to be too short. Assuming the deck is centered on the brackets properly and it isn't hanging so low that its taking the slack out. If removing the cable from the engagement arm works, then you could back off the adjustment a tad and see if that works.

Is it possible to add tension via some adjustment point?

you can bend the spring where it attaches to the mower to get more tension on it, but it really should work as designed. Its possible the belt is stretched.

its probably the spring that keeps tension on the clutch pedal, without it in place the belt will slip and the mower won't move. It should be an easy fix

"Sto usando ChatGPT per tradurre: probabilmente è la molla che mantiene la tensione sul pedale della frizione, senza di essa la cinghia scivolerà e il trattorino non si muoverà. Dovrebbe essere una riparazione facile."
