No frozen adjusters? I got one of these for a 300 blackout. The first time I used it, I was finding settings for subs and supers using the shortest plunger. Within about 50 rounds, I could no longer turn the knob. The plunger was completely carbon-locked inside the block. I had to take off the hand guard and use a screwdriver blade to work the plunger enough to get the knob off. I completely cleaned it and lubed it. The second time using it, I fully rotated the knob after every magazine (10 rounds each) to see how free it was. After about 30 rounds (3 mags) it was getting difficult to turn. After 2 more mags, frozen again.

@@Subtlenimbus Something isn't right, I have used crappy Wolf and Tula ammunition and never had the problems you are describing..The worst I had was the plunger stuck a little after a long period of time without oiling or moving the adjustment knob.. I popped the plunger loose with a little screw driver with out removing anything. I never cleaned it and it ran just fine..I'll add a little oil now after shooting 2 to 3 hundred rounds..Unlike other adj gas blocks, the plunger in the RS is easy to remove and service..All adj gas blocks need to be serviced once in awhile, but claiming it gets difficult after 30 rounds is something I have never encountered on any of my 5.56 or 300 black out rifles....

How fine are the gradations in the settings? For example, say you have your weapon on gas setting 3 and it barely cycles. You then put it on gas setting 4 and it cycles just fine, but there is a little too much gas. Are the gradations very minimal from one setting to the next?
@riflespeed
@riflespeed Жыл бұрын
A lot of time and effort went in to answering this question and defining how much adjustment is enough while being fine enough to allow real tuning yet not so fine that shooters get lost in all the settings. The combination of 12 positions on the Control Knob and the ten different Plunger sizes we offer create a system that allows meaningful adjustment without being tedious and the ability to choose the exact performance you need for any carbine configuration.

@@riflespeed Thanks for getting back to me. My whole worry was either the gradations are too large or they were too small as to be indistinguishable until you get far enough away. Every gas block I’ve used seems to be finicky and has the issue of carbon locking, so I’m definitely looking forward to trying these out. Cheers.

Hello I am doing a 8 inch 300 blackout build using a pistol length gas system. I checked your chart and it said to run a 5 inch or 5.5 inch handguard for the 8 inch barrel to use the RS7519 for a .750 but why can’t I use the RS7533? In the measuring chart on your website says it’ll be 7.5 inch and my barrel would be 8 inch? Why is it a bad idea to use the RS7533 but a good idea to use the RS7519?
@riflespeed
@riflespeed Жыл бұрын
The threads on your barrel are 0.6" long. The RS7533 would hang over the thread shoulder (8" minus 0.6" = 7.4"). You can switch to an 8.5" barrel and use an RS7533. Thanks for your interest in Riflespeed.

The only advantage I can see having this on ANY AR rifle, is if you were 100% going to run a suppressor... But if you are not going to run a suppressor, then you have no reason to be adjusting the gas system and then this has no real use and would add extra weight for no reason...
@hambone7777777
@hambone7777777 2 жыл бұрын
Not exactly, mate. Short barrel/dwell length to port is the other main reason. As well as caliber change, along with recoil spring tuning. And another main reason is the ammunition, which seems to get lost in the mix. I'm setting up a 12.5 barrel 6.8 SPC with a 10" mid-length port, a linear device, a Ti BCG, a trimable flat wire recoil spring and a 5.3oz buffer, for an ext. tube.(tuneable to 3oz, or so) With 105, 110, 115, 120 and maybe 95gr ammo. Some that I want to reload with hotter powder and volume, for velocity. Tuned to the to throat gap. Not to mention, which means that you should, the gas port size itself, which varies considerable from manufacturer to barrel length and use... Reloading is always a consideration, on a gas gun, for cyclic timing. And min. gas gives more speed. And what about even more increase from a 45* angle drilling of the port to the barrel? What that would do for the short dwell time? Man, this is fun. PS. can we also get a date on the recommended part availability? Thx

Exactly I'm only running it on my ar308 so I'm not beating the shit out of my gun when suppressed.
@TheFishE77Official
@TheFishE77Official 2 жыл бұрын
You clearly don't shoot competition stuff then. Having a rifle that is tuned with an ultralight buffer, low-mass BCG, and running minimum powder load to ensure absolute zero sight upset from each shot requires an extremely well adjusted gas system to keep the thing running. Too much gas, it beats the shit out of the rifle and causes jams and misfeeds. Too little gas, and it can't fully cycle the bolt to the rear and can cause failure to eject, failure to lock on empty, or failure to strip the next round from the mag. Having a setup like this that lets you go through 24 settings (12 in plunger position 1, 12 in position 2) can let you seriously finnesse every bit of recoil management possible while still letting the gun function properly, and also be able to adjust it without tools mid-match if needed to ensure it keeps running even when the gun is getting dirty or running hotter.
