2:05 more commonly this type of combat is called tab targeting. Since usually you change your targets with tab, like GW2 and WOW. anything that requires you to aim like GW2 and ESO are called action combat.

I've always called it "Tower Defense" combat because of how stationary your character is.

when the transfer was happening i lost my toon thats when i quit i did pay the bonuses to use the AH at the time now im not sure.

this game was awesome back in its day. during wow content droughts we used to flock to this game and have a hell of a time. I even switched fully to Rift for years. What a blast, I wish they would revive it somehow, new xpac?

They've had several "classic" servers with promised not pay to win economy who all went pay to win again and again. So, they've had plenty "revivals", but even if there were more, no one would trust them / everyone would believe it'd be another rug pull. So I guess Gamigo or who ever owns this now won't even try again. It's a shame really, it was once just like RoM before, the best MMORPG there was.

This is THE BEST mmorpg I’ve EVER played in my life. I’ve played every single mmorpg you can name and this have the best immersion, feel, effect etc.

Yup, the endgame rifts were badass. Started playing it again, but the player base has shrinked sadly. There are p2w aspects, but ibassume thats what keeps it running

I played Rift when it was brand new and really enjoyed it. But I totally get where you're coming from looking at it today. And looking at so many other MMORPGs as well. It doesn't do anything really "wrong" but it doesn't do anything to hold my interest either.

The Meridia's Beacon clip at about 10:30 gave me some flashbacks to Skyrim, mate. Always warn the Skyrim noobs on Reddit, "You'll find a weird, white polyhedron soon. TURN YOUR VOLUME DOWN! As Meridia is LOUD!" Just after I tell them to save before killing chickens. Right. Back to Guild Wars 2 for me (if it stops crashing).

Its not. It probably was 2 years ago, or 5 or 10. Today its a broken buggy mess and also has a teeny fraction of the old player base. You will grind to a late level then grind some more for high level gear and you will either be bored or frustrated every minute of it. I'm sorry I invested so much time.

Dimensions are so fun. It's a shame you assumed the very first starter one you get and the one tiny box of items was the full experience. I get the format of jumping in as a new player, but I'd love to see a five minute bit where a seasoned player showed you around the stuff you don't get to experience in the 5 levels you reviewed. I mean, I'm trying to imagine reviewing WoW without touching on raids, dungeons, getting a mount, the bulk of the regular player experience, for example.

I know it's not the whole thing, but that's the point. First impressions are really important and if anything starts out wrong, you then rely on the player to play on, even though what came first wasn't fun, to then reach the fun stuff. The point of these little videos is, first of all just me mucking about and having some fun, and secondly to see how many of these games actually put on a good display for a first timer. The answer in most cases is that you have to not enjoy the beginning to get to the stuff you will enjoy and there's a huge opportunity to ask why that I'm sort of refusing to get into.

Rift was special when it had Game Masters managing the "Rift" events and PVP invasions. But it was unmaintainable and you couldn't employ people for decades just managing the same system 24/7 so it lost all it's character and just became a regular old MMO. The devs definately still tried for many years to keep the game alive without Game Masters, really hard and often still entertaining. But the original pitch - the Rifts and Invasions never came back as the main selling point front and center.

This game used to be amazing. The best PvP experience I've had in an MMO, just under Wildstar. I'd level alts solely through PvP Warfronts, mess with fun builds, it was great. You can't even get a warfront to pop if you queue for an hour now.

This game pioneered a lot of things. And this game DID kill WoW successfully. Unfortunately for RIFT and everyone who played RIFT, they did not have any major updates in like SIX MONTHS. At this point the next thing comes out, WoW rises back from the grave eventually and the game just loses its population. And there was no p2w in this game when it originally released because it had a monthly subscription and wasn't F2P.

Rift and Aion actually were different than the other popular MMOs when they came out. Everything at this time was trying to be a WoW clone. Rift had the rifts obviously, but also the talent tree was unique. Aion you could fly.
