Amen... Seems like most of them are so brainwashed they'd rather stay 7% body fat and end up six feet under like this guy rather than have a little higher bf, still be lean and be a as healthy as possible. You can't be healthy at a detrimentally low body fat percentage, way lower than humans were designed to live with for more than an extremely short period of time (show prep). And even that is extremely taxing on the body sometimes the effects can last for life.

Rest in peace. Sleep deprivation is scary. I made the stupid decision of taking on a 2 hour drive after a string of days of getting barely any sleep. Was going to visit my girlfriend and fell asleep 4 times, hallucinated twice and I think about it every day, how easy it would have been to drive off the road or hit a passing vehicle while I was going 75 mph. I'll never do it again and I regret doing it because of the risk I put others at and how stupidly I could have thrown my life away.

@@jesusdiedforoursins I’m so sorry that your brother is going through this and that you and your family are experiencing this as well. As someone who is recovering from an eating disorder, let him know that he’s loved and that his value as a human being is not determined by his physique or strength. Everyone’s struggle and case is different so I by now means believe that there is a single way to treat this. At the end of the day, he’s who makes his own decisions but showing him unconditional love and letting him know he can always rely on you is something that so small yet so important and can truly lead to healing. Scott was a friend of mine from school always very shy but kind as hell. We trained a few times when he was growing in the fitness industry. He stayed incredibly lean and he trained like no other as time went on his priority moved to burning as many calories as possible, hours of high intensity cardio and weightlifting (having his HR above 200 for ALAP was the goal). You never know what's going on in peoples heads (addiction comes in many forms). Never be afraid of reaching out to friends/professionals if you need to talk! It's so sad. I looked back at my Instagram DMs with him back in 2018, asking him why he was doing so much volume, whether he was okay, etc. I kept expressing concern for him while also trying to support him and suggest video ideas, and he was always so kind, but he refused to do less volume. I finally tried being a little pushier and said that watching him essentially abuse his body everyday with insane volume workouts, sleep deprivation and eating challenges wasn't enjoyable, and he just said "sorry you find them boring, people still seem to really like them." Man it's such a bummer to hear about his passing. I wish I could have done more. :(

For the person reading this message, know that God loves you a lot and he wants you to be saved and happy, nothing in this world like money, fun or popularity can fill the emptiness in your heart, but only his son Jesus who died for you can fill you who might not know about him, he knows you more than yourself, you who turned your back to him, he is still waiting for you with his arms open to receive you again, you who fought against him and had done things that are unforgivable in your eyes, he will always see you as his son and he already paid the price for all your sins, even if the world doesn’t forgive you, all that you need is God and everything will be alright, so trust God and only God, no one else, repent from your sins and never go back to them, and the most important thing is that you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior with your voice and your heart, when you do all these things, pray to God and read the Bible(Christian Bible not a Catholic since the Catholic one might’ve changed the word of God to something that it is not God’s word but men’s, so read a christian Bible) so that you get to know God, and when you pray ask God to guide you so that you always walk in his righteousness and so that he gives you strength so you don’t fall to sin, and don’t just say I am a Christian and never read your bible or end up not praying, build a relationship with God, read the Bible, fast and pray and be his son not only in words but also in your actions, please listen to this message, today God has showed you grace, to you who might be depressed, empty, are being hated or hates, or maybe you don’t receive genuine love, even you who enjoys or is comfortable with his current life, whoever you who is reading this is, know that God is calling you to give you a future and a hope, in this life and in the eternal life, trust him because he loves you so much that you can’t even understand it, and the time is short, after this message you might day or Jesus might return, so be ready and follow him, for today he stretched his hand to you because he loves you and cares for you, and he doesn’t want you to go to hell, so please go to him, I promise you that it will be the best decision you will do in your entire existence and that God will free you from anything that hurts you, take the love and hope the Lord is giving you and be free, for the best future for your life is in his hands, please make the right choice, for today God has stretched his hand to you who he loves so much that he even died for knowing all the bad things you have done, that is how much love he has and will always have for you❤️ Sorry for the long paragraph and thank you for taking the time to read it, please if you have any way to contact this person’s family please send them this message, it might not seem like it but some people really need hope and God can change or save someone’s life and give hope to the hopeless by you just sending them this message, thank you for reading, God Bless you always.

In eating disorder realm it takes over your judgment and personality deep deep down (to the operant conditioning level). Conjecture from personal experience and slight reading, but it becomes OCD like, where the extreme exercise patterns disconnect from logical goals or any real rationale - you get used to knocking out 5000 workouts and calories - fear kicks in “what if you miss it”, you get addicted to the volume of food … etc. At that point the bar is very hard to bring back down without help

This is extremely eye opening and I definitely need to make changes or I'm gonna end up just like this guy. I have terrible terrible sleep where I consider a great night rest is at the max 4 to 5 hours a night broken up in 1 to 2 hours at a time which is from sleep apnea. I've been doing this schedule for over 3 years now and it's taken it's toll. Everything Derrick said about lack of sleep and how bad it is really spoke to me. I hope everyone stays healthy this year and pray this is the last time we hear such a tragic story but unfortunately I doubt it.

I’ve slept like that for about 15 years now. Feel like shit most of the time and always tired. Don’t take gear anymore. I’ve only done 3 cycles at 41 years old, but used to do a lot of coke and stay awake for days and end up tripping, falling asleep stud up (in my younger days). I’m unsure if that has anything to do with it but no matter what I try I always wake up 4 to 5 times a night for at least 15 - 20 mins. Absolutely shit, my advice just look after your body, especially when young and think nothing can harm you. Much Respect

Longevity is key, good things will come guys, you might not have career in fitness or the lifestyle you want. It will come through patience and long term goals, it is tough but having a good mindset will get you through. Scott was definitely doing his best to make a name for himself and in the process it took his life. I been training for 5 years consistently, I can tell you I come across boys taking some pills for growth etc, it really comes to my mind often too, “what if I start taking sarms, I can get fully built physique quicker.” That’s short term thinking and as it might give you results, it can damage the person in long term. There is a lot of pressure on young guys today to be successful, that’s the bottom line and don’t fall into that trap, nothing wrong with being successful but think about long term results too. Take care young bloods.

Absolutely! Especially as an athlete and BB as the years go by I question so many things that people say e.g. staying within 5-10lbs of stage weight. For most bodies, it is ridiculously difficult to maintain that level of leanness and fight genetic tendencies and human physiology so so hard. I felt the pressure to look a certain way all the time until i stopped giving so much importance to what others think. Social media can be quite toxic at times! The display of unhealthy tendencies and behaviours is often rewarded and considered aspirational and people constantly feel the pressure to push themselves. It is truly sad.. RIP Scott.

He wasn't just a fitness/diet youtuber. He really implemented every trick in the book to maximize size without maximizing calories. If you are the wizard of pharmacology, he was the wizard of food dieting. He made Greg look like an amateur. "Volume eating" was basically invented by this guy - who else could create a calorie-free BBQ sauce from scratch? Unfortunately he didn't lead a sustainable lifestyle himself. But just because he wasn't popular doesn't mean he wasn't good. This guy was a legend of figuring out ways to diet without you even realizing it. I truly believe he was a mad genius in cooking, a blend of a chef and a scientist. Not "eat rice cakes and anabolic french toast." He also grew up chubby, which probably contributed to his ED issues.

@@drkylefreeman If you've actually watched his videos you'd know that he ate more real food than most people. Sure, I'm no fan of flavordrops and the like, but chickpeas, vegetables, and complex carbs are off most people's plates when they should be on it. It's a shame people who's never watched him before feel the need to comment as if they were experts on the topic. Surprise - contrary to your own video, "all diets" do not suck, and sustainable diets actually work. Many people (myself included) have been happier, healthier, and successful with them. The fact he ate processed foods likely did not have much to do with his passing. He overworked himself and did not get enough rest, day after day. It seems like this is what did him in.

If I was weighing like 180lbs, it would basically be impossible to burn that many kcal every day.

Puts into perspective about the whole "no pain no gain" attitude that's been circulating the fitness industry. Been training every single day for 20 months straight and I've racked up more injuries than personal bests lol. It's a hard cycle to break though once you start, you feel restless until you've done a minimum amount so I've had to focus more on reducing what the minimal amount is in order to have light exercise for rest days or periods. RIP buddy!

@@evernew23 We have to rest just as hard as we train, everything is a cycle. Going hard is admirable, but pointless if it's just for the sake of going hard lol. I fell for a lot of that bullshit old military style ethic when it came to training, which is all good and well during a long run but not as a day in day out lifestyle over years lol. Hope you're keeping well yourself also!

I was a lot like this guy for a few years when I was a teen (minus being jacked), and nearly died 3 times from it. I would do a ridiculous amount of exercise and eat super high volume, but I had no idea how to lift to gain muscle nor that I had to eat more calories than I was expending to put on mass. Luckily I survived that, and later in college I got into actual lifting and bodybuilding, which I've been doing since then.

You see how small his neck was even before getting real sick? He had a childs neck. As androgen sensitive as neck is and as much training he had gotten in the disparity was absurd. Seems like a damn near guarantee that he was never supposed to be a big guy in the first place. Not that it's everything but going really hard against your natural physiological biases is even more stressful than if you were going to an extreme that at least aligned more with your natural predispositions. It'd be like Brian Shaw trying to be a high level marathon runner. Never going to end well. Just a thought I've been having lately looking at some of these guys.

Wow. I stumbled onto your posting and was curious what happened to Scott Murray who I also never heard of. But it hit me hard as looking at myself as you talked about his behavior. I'm age 21 and did gymnastics for 14 years (ages 4 to 18). I'm adopted from Ukraine (a different topic please) by older Americans and raised in rural USA. I was the only gymnast they knew and got bullied for being a gymnast and having funny accent. I threw myself into gymnastics at the academy and loved the training. But I coped with the stress of learning English, being adopted, getting bullied by doing a lot of exercising. And in particular doing a lot abdominal exercising. In high school I got severely beat up and older guys targeted my abs. That led me to increase my abs training and started taking hard punches in the name of training. There were so many nights my last 2 years of high school where I didn't sleep long, ate sparingly, and with some wrestlers in their gym did torturous abs workouts including taking a lot of hard punches held in a full nelson or the punching station or hanging from the pull up bar. One night I remember my heart racing and it would not calm down. I didn't tell anyone but it scared me. I wonder if Scott died from a heart attack. The last 2 years of high school I took a lot of hard punches in the name of training. But it was more for entertainment of friends. I'm happy now that I survived high school given all I put my body through. Any death of a young fit guy is sobering.

Our Circadian rhythms are vastly important. As many here have said as well...R&R is essential if you want to stay alive. Your body and mind is not able to endure without some sort of recovery time. Not to mention if your immunity levels get compromised by common illnesses. It's a vicious circle of decline if you don't make a conscious decision to manage it as much as you can.
