17:40 to 17:50 spot on and perfect description. This knife reminds me sooooo much of Bob Terzuola’s knives too.

Glad you enjoyed it! Few people get as fsr as the 17th minute so I very much appreciate your comment. I have not handled a Terzuola knife, I dont think.

Just received mine today and I’m happy beyond words . It’s amazing in every way from the craftsmanship to the feel in hand . This just might be my most favorite knife to date in my years of collecting. Thanks for the wonderful review that gave me the gentle nudge to pick one up. Couldn’t be happier !

Very glad to hear it. In my collection, I named it the second best knife of all I own. and incredible blade with incredible craftsmanship!

Respect the fact you actually get some use out of yours rather than keeping it in a safe like a lot of folk

When I started collecting I only had one rule, No Safequeens Ever. I do pick my knife of the day based on what I will do that day, but I carry and use all of my knives
@eyesintheskies Жыл бұрын
@@KnivesoftheRoundTable tiz a good rule to live by just be careful what you do with mega hard steels like this cos I still mourn the breaking of my maxamet pm3 and that is a cheap one compared to this was only cutting some soft pine but I was slightly prying &it was cold! I take the same stance with watches . Sure you have different knives for different occasions!

stunning knife... i am going to buy this when it becomes available here in the uk. knife centre and lamnia both have it but with the 20% taxes and import duties the price is too high. i only just yesterday bought the higo 2 titanium dlc in matt, i love it it's stunning and with this one black blade and this blade will be an awesome pair , thanks for sharing. hope i don't have to wait to long although rockstead are out of stock currently.

@@KnivesoftheRoundTable the Shirogorovs keep trying to knock it down the list though! It’s crazy what knife collecting does to you. I remember hearing a lot about Chris reeves and thinking who would spend £500 on a knife. Then I got there and heard about Shirogorov and thought they were for Russian oligarchs only! Now I’m contemplating this!!! Just worry about the brittleness of such a hard steel I snapped my maxamet blade but probably need to bear in mind a higo is not an everyday use kinda knife! Thanks for the reply 👍 nice review

Just know that the wood one, Higo X does not come with a pocket clip but a leather belt sheath instead, the Higo II, the CF version does have a pocket clip. Glad you enjoyed the review!
@eyesintheskies Жыл бұрын
@@KnivesoftheRoundTable yes not a fan of carbon fiber. Ideally I'd have the ironwood grip with a pocket clip & the titanium bronzed frame from the other. Could buy the ti one then make some nice wood grips but seems daft when you're paying this price! Are you keeping it?
@eyesintheskies Жыл бұрын
@@KnivesoftheRoundTable actually the benefit of keeping it in a leather sheath is that it won't get scratched by keys or coins in your pocket.

If you look at the Higo II and your Higo X you'll notice the handle shape is different at the front bottom angle the Higo II has a sharper (more pointed) angle which for me is noticeable when opening the knife it kind of pokes your thumb as you're rolling the blade open . I wish I hadn't bought it. The blade lost the razor edge after a few cardboard boxes being cut up for recycling bin...it wasn't a torture test by any means, just normal cutting task. I love everything else about the knife though...but if it can't hold an edge (especially the way that's claimed) what good is it? I also have a Hizen both knives lost their edges after using AND they're ZDP-189 blades. I really really loved these when I first had them but it was a short lived love affair. EDIT: Knives Of The Round Table... I'd like to know if your Higo X is still sharp and what kind of cutting has it done?
@KnivesoftheRoundTable6 ай бұрын
Mi Higo has done fairly minimal cutting. I do not believe in safe queens, but I do carry my Higo as a gentlemans carry, so it has seen some package opening, cutting steak, that sort of gentlemanly thing. Certainly not enough to asses edge retention. I will do some more use on it and I will let you know what I find
@byrong35646 ай бұрын
Based on the claims Rockstead makes about cutting Mariners rope 700 times, you’d think losing the edge that quickly would be a warranty thing? What is Rocksteads warranty and did you contact them?
@harryberry4746 ай бұрын
@@byrong3564...No I haven't contacted them, I know they have a sharpening service in their warranty and have read about it from owners who have sent their knives in with rather poor results meaning the knife isn't as sharp as when new.. It's been awhile since researching it and the turn around is lengthy and costly around $100 from U.S. IIRC.
