i was hoping that this was some kind of freak accident where they got into a huge pile of burrs or something but the fact that they have flea dirt, severe matting AND were only scheduled for a bath is extremely concerning. hope the owners do better by these boys in the future

I'm a groomer and you really have to love animals to do this type of job. I get so mad at pet owners and really can't do much about it. I just love the dogs and do everything possible to make the experience not so traumatic for them. Poor baby. He feels much better now. 😢

First job is to rid the yard of burr growing weeds. We get them every year and the minute I see a single burr on one of our golden doodles, we're out in the yard, aggressively eradicating them. Unfortunately, they're stubborn and come back every year. Second job is to get your dog groomed regularly. We get our doodles bathed every month and shaved down to about 2" every other month. This may seem like a lot of shaving, but their fur grows rapidly. In two months they look like those Highland Cows you see in Scotland! : ) Doodles need to be groomed frequently, so I always warn people before they get them that they are quite expensive to maintain. I realize these Great Pyrenees are not supposed to be shaved, but in this instance there was no helping it. But regular grooming is still necessary.

These are working livestock guardians which means they’re likely on a VERY large acreage. Good luck hunting down every last burr bearing plant on 50+ acres. 😂 I do agree that the owners need to be more diligent about grooming though.

Poor pups. Thanks for what you do. Looks like those farm dogs were having the time of their life they were probably jumping in ponds and running and getting all those burrs all over them. As a groomer you have to make sure those don’t go into your own hands too Be careful.

You are doing a great job! I wonder how the owners reacted when they discoverd that you had groomed the dogs and not just given them a bath? I of course agree with you that it was absolutely necessary to groom the dogs

Would you shave 2dogs that has burrs all over it and the family came in just to have then bathe Do they get upset when they come to pick them up or do you call them and explain the problem wow I never Seen That before but I’m from California and I know other parts of the states they have different problems with Ticks And other sorts of things I noticed some kind of grass they can get in between their toes and end their ears. in California we don’t have that problem just FLEAS and of course PARVO people don’t vaccinate their animals like they’re supposed to anyhow, thank you so much for showing this video. I’ve been watching for you for a long time. You DO a great job explaining the situation. Thank you so much Belinda Arellano from Santa Paula California.

Do these dogs live outside? My dogs lives in my house and sleeps on my bed so he would not be doing that if he was dirty, not to mention those burrs would be painful for them.

The owners should be ashamed and charged. Not only the terrible discomfort for the dog from burs and the matting but the amount of fle evidence is just so terrible…. Makes me so mad 😠

It is so sad that these owners let these dogs get so bad. It's so hard for them and I know that it hurts them I'm ruining I was young and when I didn't get my bridge done right away and they could get my hair recognized it. My grandmother used to use Olive oil or oil to take the match out and that even hurt but at least I was able to have my long hair still so anyway. It's all sad that they're going to. It's very painful for them. There's nothing you can do when they're that mad at by shaylem down😢

The sad thing is, these owners obviously don’t care about this dog enough for basic maintenance. He’s going to go home and be outside in the sun full time and end up with a bad sunburn because they’re not going to care enough to sun screen him since his coat is shaved short. 😭

Most every great Pyrenees that came into my groom shop in TX looked like this dog...so sad...and underneath that matted dirty fur was an assortment of bad skin issues too.

It’s old. They all have been for quite some time. Marybeth didn’t want to do any more Videos on KZfaq. Whether she comes back at some time with new ones remains to be seen. PS: to the person who referred to Rose……she hasn’t worked with Marybeth for a long time. I’m pretty sure she had to retire due to her injury but I could be wrong on that.

You do great job hard to believe how people neglect their pets sad really i got a mini schauzer iam forever brushing teeth and brushing out fur, bathing him when nessesary, you take care of him like your child i think. I would be embarassed to bring to the groomer my dog in that condition. But you complain alot in condition of animals

I had read that this breed can't be shaved due to the fact they have 2 coats for insulation. Obviously not a correct article.

They can be shaved but, ideally, would not. Shaving double coated dogs ruins their coat. However, there is no choice with these dogs. She can't possibly brush them out; she wouldn't be able to brush or comb through the mats ... even if she could, it would be painful for the dogs. The condition of their coats is from owner negligence. It's a very good thing that the dogs are starved, or overweight, or living in the streets, though. I've never seen any videos by this groomer. She's so kind, calm and patient and though she could criticize the owners, she isn't. I like her ways!

😮This is a case of lazy owners AND lazy or non educated groomer regarding GPs.Obviously just ruined there coat!!! Did the owners say they wanted them shaved!? They are working farm dogs who need their coat. Remove the matts but save the coat. I would expect more from a professional groomer. Blow out then bath in deshed shampoo then another blowout. Then use appropriate slicker brush to brush out. Please GREAT PYRENEES OWNERS MAKE SURE YOUR GROOMER KNOWS ABOUT THE BREED and the conditions it lives in. (Working dog vs family pet) Too many groomers just shave because it's too much work.( usually 3 to 6 hours! Thats why these groomers just shave. Its easier.)Take to someone else if groomer not willing to do it properly. Farm dogs are always dirty. Or do it yourself. Invest in some decent grooming tools and save your dogs and your money from butcher groomers. I know I'll receive some backlash. I was a lazy owner and could not find a groomer who didn't want to shave. So I had to learn, inest and get my majestic, deserving,sweet giants clean, dematted and healthy coat without sabotage. They can not cool or heat their bodies without their coat. For a working dog.... outside.... Please owners do your honework.

Google has an excellent article on what burrs are, how they attach themselves to animals, and how to remove them. Short version: they’re dried mature plant seeds with hooks or barns that attach themselves to animal fur (or human clothing) to aid in wider dispersal of that particular plant species.

That's sad, even working dogs should be cared for. I know they get more dirty and rough looking, but flees, severe matting and that many burrs is cruel.
