I'm all day long in the lenny camp. But I can tell you.... I met Roy at one of my fights. He must have been in his 60's. I done the whole handshake thing.... But my right hand in affection touched his left shoulder/ arm. And I have never felt anything so solid. These guys were iron! Even at 60 I think Roy was in better shape than me. RIP lads xx

Shaw says Waldron beat McLean among others, but McLean beat shaw.I suspect they just didn't like each other. I suppose it makes it worse getting beat off someone you hate.

Look everyone is forgetting that Roy Shaw was an old man fighting Lenny Mclean . Roy Shaw was in his 40’s while Lenny McLean was in his late 20’s when they fought . In his day no one would have beaten Roy Shaw , and on the cobbles Roy would have beaten Lenny every time .

I mett his guy by accident years ago in a pub on Green Lanes in Haringey. I didn't know who he was and the place was packed but he was sat there on his own at a table - I bought my pint and went over and asked him if anyone was sitting there - he said to sit down and I started reading my paper. He picked up from my accent that I was from the north and he started talking to me and asking me if I knew "blah" in Manchester or "blah" from Blackpool and I hadn't heard of anyone he mentioned and he twigged I had no idea who he was at this point.........so he said "do you know who I am?" and he proceeded to tell me who he was. Fuck me, I didn't dare move a muscle.........but what a gent he was and what an interesting bloke. Scary as fuck though.

Roy Shaw was a great guy but yes he was scary. I heard from an old docker how a pal of his had passed the house where Roy lived at that time and stepped in dog shit (from Roy's dog). After the guy was cursing about it the door opened and out came Roy. Not angry, he hadn't heard anything. Well the docker saw Roy and immediately said "Sorry Roy. I stepped in your dog's shit!" Roy just looked at him and the walked past him.
