Given that Space Cadet Pinball runs not just on Windows 95, but also NT 3.51 and even Windows 3.1 with Win32s, its requirements to run are fairly light (a decent 486 has almost no issues, for instance.) Therefore the Wii is more than up to the task to handle it. Cool!

Oh yeah for sure it probably wouldn’t have an issue running it in the slightest. Maybe even an SNES port is possible considering this. It would have to be able to run over an everdrive so it could of course read the datar off an SD card, but it would still be awesome to see!

The way I convert midis into any sample-based format including ogg and wav is by using Foobar2000, a midi component, the free codecs component thing, and a .sf2 convertion of the Microsoft GS Wavable Synth soundfont, normally found in Windows. It took some time to figure it out, but once it's done I have a conversion of Space Cadet's theme in a much higher quality than the og (can be downsampled in Audacity to match the original). Just to keep in mind in case you want to convert midis into wav or ogg or whatever based of how I do it.

You got a higher-quality version of the original song by doing that? Hopefully you can upload it without getting copy-striked. I'd love to hear what a 'restored' version of the song sounds like, but the manual conversion sounds like a hassle.

timidity works too, give it an SC55 soundfont and the midi, and it'll convert it to a wave (which can then be converted)

Looks like Doom found it's new competitor, I guess! Very impressive this decompilation, if the other tables were possible too, it'll be a great collection to have in the homebrew community.

I see Space Cadet 3D Pinball has gotten the Super Mario 64 treatment! I love seeing games run on new platforms natively, I've played with the Android version a bit and I'm gonna compile it on Linux later.

For MIDI conversion I use Coolsoft's VirtualSynth and MidiMapper with a Roland SC-55 soundfont set. Honestly sounds so much better than the built in Microsoft General Midi soundfont. I can reply with details on how to get this conversion method set up if this comment gets enough hits.

@@mortalc13 A pirated version of Direct MIDI to MP3 Converter also seems to work great and works with SF2 files.

@@Kippykip yes but with Coolsoft's Virtual MIDI Synth and MIDI Mapper you can play any game that uses Midi music and it will use the set soundfont as well as listening to the Midi's directly. The software will make Windows use the custom soundfont by default. I prefer this when I am playing older games.

@@mortalc13 Yeah I know I have the software too, but it won't help for converting midis to MP3s (needed for pinball on Wii and one of the doom on PSP ports). I like the the SC-55 soundfont the most too, most dos games were composed with it.

@@Kippykip actually it will, if you have it set up correctly, you can right click on the system tray icon and click on the option Midi file converter and there is a drop down box for different file types you can convert the Midi's to.

This is amazing. I love this game so much and I've literally copied it to every Windows PC I've used after my XP days as a kid. This game brought me so much joy and I'm glad it has a community to ensure it's legacy never dies

Man it’s definitely impressive seeing that this game has been ported to soo many platforms now. Next it’s probably gonna have to be on mobile as that’s probably the only Decompilation that doesn’t exist at least I would presume. I would like to see that regardless!

It's so nice to see a computer channel on KZfaq that not only posts regularly.... But ALSO is as obsessed as I am with Windows XP! I truly believe that Windows XP Pro was the best version of Windows ever made... From Start-up theme music, and the Bliss wallpaper, to to the accessories like Space Cadet pinball, to the ease of use, stability of the OS... Just EVERYTHING.... I know that in some alternate reality where corporations didn't have to continue making money, Windows XP was the last OS ever made and it's still being updated with security patches to this date!

If you want to convert the file propperly use Foorbar2000 and the midi plugin It also lets you use SF2 (sound font) files

VLC media player also has this function, no plugin needed! You can even convert Windows' default MIDI soundfont to sf2

Another fun way to play Space Cadet Pinball back in the day was with the Gravis Gamepad Pro software which maps keyboard keys to any of the buttons on a PSX-like controller. I used to do this on Windows 95, mapping the flippers and side tilts to the 4 shoulder buttons. I also had one of the front buttons mapped to the Alt key, another to Enter, and the directional pad to the arrow keys so that I could effectively pause and navigate menus. One other key was mapped to the space bar for the plunger, and I still had some buttons leftover where I might have used Escape, Tab and/or others that were handy to have.

Interesting. I wonder if the full game and its other tables are compatible as well. I wish I had a Wii to try. If anyone out there cares to try, do let me know. My Abandonware should have the full thing, just follow the instructions to avoid installing bloatware from the 90's because it can still "work" today.

fun fact: deleting the first sound effect makes the game skip the loading part whenever you start up or reset. at least it did for me, don't know if that works on Wii. another fun fact, I once modded all the sound effects to ones from the Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker. you just have to keep the filenames the same and they can be whatever you want

You can use QuickTime Pro to convert Midi files. I've done it to convert Doom's music since, weirdly, Quicktime is the only player that seems to have the same soundfont as the original game.

i got vlc to do the audio conversion, i pulled the sf2 file from the xp vm, installed it to vlc and just told it to convert the now interpretable .mid to .ogg

Nintendo Wii is actually going to the best-fit for AmigaOS 4.0, since both are PowerPC OS :D Ok, I'm just joking. But it would be really cool if this was actually possible: Running OS4's code directly on the Wii CPU, and patching the instructions on the fly to make OS4 work the Wii. I doubt is Wii has enough RAM to boot OS4 though.

The homebrew only supports the shareware version, it DOES NOT support Full Tilt. (Sad, the "mission" and "multi ball" music won't play)

Would love to try this but for some reason I can't get the homebrew channel to load any more it just suddenly stopped for no reason, everything else on my sd card works.
