@@pikapika3198 while I get what you’re saying, the baby lost less than a pound and it’s not so much that the baby was protected, it’s that the mother was demonised and someone tried to have her MURDERED yet they’re STILL trying to make her the villain of the whole thing. Post natal depression is very real. But when you’re surrounded by people who are determined to watch you suffer so they can take your child, they are much more dangerous. Note that none of them mentioned trying to help her at all 6 weeks post birth, alone and clearly struggling.

To be fair, this is the case for the beginning and the weight should return the first 1-2 weeks of baby’s life. It’s is not the case if it’s been SIX weeks (which is when the baby went to hospital) and if it’s more than 10% weight loss - that is definitely concerning. I am not blaming or shaming the mother - I feel absolutely awful for her and i wish they discussed her side more regarding what happened. But I would bet it was PPD and being a single mom to a newborn while dealing with so much - I mean her ex got to go home and have a full nights sleep and she went home, healing from birth and in pain everywhere, exhausted and hormone fluctuations, etc. She needed HELP and once she felt able to care for him on her own again I think it’s gross they wanted to continue keeping her away.

I was just thinking that. Most babies do lose weight after birth, it is a normal phenomena. They are getting used to milk, and there's other things coming into play. @@HeinekenLady Exactly! My baby was born 7 pounds but went down to 6. The nurses said it's completely normal. And i was super exhausted so although i would be awake all day (took a few naps) i couldnt stay awake all night either. My husband was so incredible and strong. He stayed awake all night watching over our baby (our little girl had jaundice so she needed to stay in bed with a uv light hitting her) and would feed her every 2 hours! Zandris Hugal yah and that’s not abnormal with postpartum. It’s serious, but with treatment it can be managed and eventually cured. Ppl with illnesses like this need help, not to be demonized

I'm not even sure it was postpartum depression. I think these two just made stuff up, and got the maternity nurses' sympathy by telling lies about this poor woman. ... oh, and all newborns have weight fluctuations when they come home! It just happens. Any mother knows that.

Lots of babies lose weight after being born, especially if the mom is breastfeeding.

My wife tried breast feeding and both our daughters lost weight. To the point we put them on bottles because we didnt think my wife was producing enough milk. Our first was always screaming until she got started on bottle. We think she was just hungry all the time. My wife would even try to pump and she wasnt producing a quarter of what our child was eating. She had to pump all week to fill one bottle. I was happy they got switched to bottle cuz I got to help with more than just diapers lol.

At 6 weeks old the baby should have gained significant weight- not be 2 pounds less than birth.

Both my children did as well after birth. It’s due to newborns going from taking nutrition from the umbilical cord to learning to eat from mouth. This however was six weeks post birth

A 6 weeks old, being less than when they were born. That's not possible if you were actually feeding the kid. The mother should never have her child again.

It is possible.. there a numerous triggers for this. Breastfeeding, reflux, sickness... how they take a baby from his mom just like this.. Amerika is really weird.
