I love Hoffman as a character, and the fact that he actually escaped an 'inescapable' trap. It shows that he's willing to do anything to live and we didn't see him die so he's not dead.

Love Hoffman too, so many memorable scenes with him on it that stuck in my mind every time I think of the Saw series. In terms of him showing emotion, aside from his sister's death and kidnapping, there's also when his jaw rips after he "escapes" the reverse bear trap - that was just brutal and amazing end scene of him screaming in pain and anger. Really like the combo of Kevin Greutert, Costa Mandylor and Tobin Bell. Hope these three will all be in the next prequel!

Wow, holy shit I never noticed Hoffman crying after he pulled his mask off with Paul. Also I think the more this went on the more emotionless he became because it got comfortable and became normal.

Saw X was decent, but it still needed to answer a lot of questions. Like the accomplices affiliated with John (Logan. Hoffman and Dr. Gordon). The fact that Hoffman is the center of attention in the upcoming movies is what will make the movie more epic. Hoffman carried the franchise through Saw 5, 6 and 7 and has shown time and time again that he has the will to live. Dr. Gordon locking him in the bathroom is lightwork for Hoffman because he has plenty of time to escape, unlike the impossible RBT Jill put him in. It would be very confusing if that is Hoffman's fate after he has shown he has the will to live. Having a better backstory on Hoffman's/Amanda's relationship is also warranted and we only really seen them interact in Saw 6. These next two movies are extremely important. It reminds me of the Halloween remakes from 2018/2021/2022 where they announced two future sequels shortly after the release of 2018. I just hope these sequels stay true to the story and do not go into the direction of terrible casting and acting, mediocre traps or consistent plot holes.

Also an interesting thing, to your point about Hoffman, one thing I've noticed upon my last rewatch: Multiple times even as late as Saw 6-7, whenever Hoffman sees a corpse he flinches and looks away. It's NEVER explained but fascinates me so muuuch!

The fact that we've entered double digits in terms of saw movies in less that 20 years, while the franchise is still going strong, is absolutely insane.

They should hurry. Tobin Bell aged like fine wine, but he is close to 85 when they really make a new trilogy out of the franchise. Cary Elwes will be close to 65 and Costas Mandylor will be over 60. And Elwes didn’t age as well as Mandylor. Shawnee Smith will be close to 60. And her age showed, it’s hard to ignore when you watch all movies in order.

Saw 11/12 sounds like what they were initially trying to do for Saw 3D/7. Seeing as they wanted to do that one in two parts, this might be their chance to actually do it in that way.

I’m actually in love with this concept. It’ll give the franchise to soft-reboot yet stick to the original source material. My theories: SAW 11 - Will be Amanda vs Hoffman. I do feel like Cecilia is still alive for this one and there will be a way for her to corrupt the minds of either Amanda and/or Hoffman (think unbeatable traps). Then we start to see the house band start to fall apart which triggers Hoffman trying to sabotage Amanda and/or John. They will also likely incorporate new characters that were introduced in SAW X into the franchise who could grow up or get older (think Diego and some of the kids we’ve seen in the franchise). This movie will serve as a backstory for the entire franchise while setting up new motives for it to continue in 12. SAW 12 - time jump where we see Gordon vs Hoffman with likely Hoffman dying. This time we have loads of potential outcomes, apprentices, context, motives and hopefully even new plot elements that make this more than just and mouse movie. And from here they can do so many more well-thought-out stories. It seems like the theme of revenge will be heavily floating around this next era.

With Saw X fully confirming that Hoffman had been in that bathroom prior to Saw 7, the big one that I’m thinking is a reframe of Saw 7’s ending… Know that we know with certainty that Hoffman had been in the room prior, knowing him, he probably put a item(s) in secluded locations in the room in case he ever found himself trapped in there. In turn, the ending of Saw 7 could now be reframed as matching the ending of Saw 5. In that film, when Strahm closed the Glass Coffin on Hoffman, at first he acted panicky and like he had been defeated. But one Strahm played the rest of the tape and realized his mistake, Hoffman was now smirking because he knew he outsmarted Strahm. So now imagine Saw 7’s ending this way. Now that we know Hoffman was in that room before Saw 7, that means when he woke up, he knew where he was. So why would he panic and tug at the chains before attempting to grab the hacksaw? If he had done it immediately he would have easily reached it before Gordon did. The answer becomes… it was all an act. He wanted Gordon to think he was removing his only way out of the room. So he fakes pancking and tugging at the chain, then goes for the hacksaw so Gordon has time to reach it. Gordon throws it out, so Hoffman fakes being pissed off and yells at him. Then, after the door is closed, a new light comes on and Hoffman smirks because he knows he’s about to escape the room (and potentially catch Gordon completely off-guard if the plan becomes getting rid of him if Cary refuses to return). The other thing I’m predicting is that Cecilia is going to return in the next film and attempt to get revenge on John and Amanda. This time, she will have the misfortune of now having to deal with Hoffman as well. What exactly happens there is anyone’s guess, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s taken out in that film or is again left with an unknown fate to return in say, that film set after Saw 7, or potentially a Jigsaw or Spiral sequel. Nonetheless, it’s looking like we’re in for some more fun.

This has me beyond hyped!!! ❤ I’ve been a massive saw fan from the beginning! Back in the day where it was literally counting down the days for the next one and being so excited! Saw x has been a return to form after Jigsaw and Spiral were massive disappointments. Saw X met my expectations and I’ve seen it 3 times so far in the cinema and I want to see it at least one more before it’s run is over. I really hope this rumour is true! It’s the best way to take the franchise next! And more Hoffman brings out the fan girl in me haha. He’s one of my absolute favs! And I’m in love with that man haha. But I agree we need some more depth to his character, as much as I love to see the bad ass and killing machine side, I wouldn’t say no to more to his character like they have with Amanda and John! Also the rivalry between him and Amanda needs more too! Which hopefully 11 does as well as his relationship with John! Finally having a sequel to Saw 7!! This is what us saw fans need. It will do everything that film did wrong and be one epic finale. The return of Gordon would be amazing and I reckon it is more possible after the success of X. Everyone loves Hoffman maybe the franchises fan favorite. Not my favorite but I’m all for saw 11 and 12 centering around him and his story. Him still being alive compared to John and Amanda carries his characters weight imo

Bit of an out there conspiracy and a big ask, but I would love to see Leigh Whannel as Adam again! There are theories that the body that’s there is not his and he had somehow escaped even after Amanda suffocated him! It’s big ask but I would love to see that!

Saw 11: Takes place between Saw 2/3. Amanda, Hoffman, John go get revenge on Henry (black guy Saw X) & set up his trap. We get more character dynamics between the big 3 & then more personal stuff father-son (hoffman-john) relationship & the sibling rivalry (Amanda v Hoffman). Cecilia returns & she's what pushes Amanda over the edge to create unwinnabld traps after they fight brutally to the death. She also pushes Hoffman to betray Amanda & John. Saw 12: Takes place after Saw 3/4 before 5. Hoffman thinks he won but John warns him he hasn't he then receives the note (not knowing its from Gordon). In this movie he tries to figure out who the secret apprentice is while running one of the several games in those envolopes we never saw. At the end its revealed that Logan was John's original apprentice not Mark & this makes him very angry but he still has to focus on the issues at hand which is Saw 5,6,7. Saw 13: fast forward to post saw 7. Gordon vs Hoffman. Hoffman finds a way to escape the room via hidden key. Its then revealed John had a feeling he might escape & he now wants Hoffman & Gordon to work together to test Logan his lucky ass first apprentice who wasn't even tested fr. Little do they know John sent Logan a warning so he traps them all in a 3 way game because John convinces him that he must test himself fr as well Gordon/Hoffman. So eventually they're trapped in a 3 way game & the last man standing becomes Jigsaw official sucessor. Side Notes: Throughout the films we're going to need some flashbacks that really flesh out Gordon & Logan that explain why they follow John. Logan between luckily not getting tested even tho he the reason John couldn't cure his cancer & seeing everyone he cares about die in war he becomes masochistic (cuts himself like the marks on his back) & believes he deserves to be tested which explains why he would put himself in a trap with Hoffman & Gordon. Then we need to establish why Gordon follows John. Gordon was John doctor but after he lost his foot John became his doctor & he genuinely cares for him unlike Gordon who wrote John off. After months of this he's released but John gives him a way to contact him . Only by now his family has been without him like 6 months. He goes home & sees his wife enjoying another man in a way he could never satisfy her. We then get other flash backs where his daughter hates him because the mom convinced her its fault. Now with no family, no leg, no job he returns to John & becomes his secret apprentice. Imo Logan is the first & worst apprentice. Amanda is the most emotionally unstable apprentice she's not cold or calculating she like Azula after she lost her mind. Gordon is the most loyal apprentice & he completely buys into the John philosphy. Hoffman is the best apprentice, he made a Jigsaw trap on his own, he never wanted to be an apprentice & he saw John as more of an equal/partner. Hoffman shows remorse after killing but at the same time he doesn't hesitate to save himself at all cost. He only believes some people deserve a fair shot in the game while most don't. I personally think there needs to be some kind of Jigsaw sith rule. No more than 2 apprentices the apprentice with the most guts will eventually detrone the other guys & take their own 2 apprentices making sure that all the succesors are more powerful than their teachers.

They need to bring back Lawrence Gordon and Daniel Matthews.

If there is a sequel to saw 3D i will freak out so much

I feel like Saw X was their John Kramer movie, Saw 11 will be their Amanda Young movie, and Saw 12 will be their Mark Hoffman movie. They all can show the dynamics the characters have with each other at different points, but the focus of each movie can be all 3 of the main Jigsaw crew.

So maybe we will get to see Hoffman's backstory about his sister

Saw 12 "Finally The Final Chapter"

This is fantastic news...it really would be cool to see all the law enforcement storyline's come together and have them all in communication with each other even though Tapp and Sing are dead but Dina Meyer was part of the original team (I am disregarding Jigsaw). And it's nice to know the original team is still listening to the fans as they did for Saw 1-7 run...My opinion on the Amanda character is that I do believe they have shown quite a bit of her backstory and character in general. Hoffman doesn't have much at all but I think they can explore the relationship between John, Amanda, Hoffman. Definitely would be great to see them explore the continuation of Saw 7. A problem with both these new films will be the Donnie Whalberg and Cary Elwes most likely not coming back. A lot of people forget about Whalberg but he was there for 3 films and from almost the beginning and his character is pretty important in the Saw timeline that has been revamped. Elwes, the prized jewel has an importance on the whole franchise, if he doesn't return his character will be referenced a bunch as they did throughout the franchise. He will only return if he's given a big chunk of money. Elwes also has recently been acting in some big budget movies after there were periods of time his career was going downwards. I actually read Elwes's lawsuit in the mid 2000s they really screwed him, he was only paid like 50k. Yes 50k is alot of money for a couple weeks of work but I think the point is made. Greutert should be back. Lynn Bousman who was very good for Saw 2-4 dropped it big time with Spiral (ugh). Don't want to see him back nor do I want to see anyone new coming in that wasn't apart of Saw 1-7. Hoping for writers Dunstan and Melton to come back and if Greutert is out then have them direct and honestly they actually might be the best option to direct.

Here is my very long idea for saw 11: Movie- takes place between saw 2 and saw 3. The first scene of the film is Cecelia escaping. We then cut to the post credit scene of X. Henry ends up winning (somehow) and John/Hoffman instantly rehabilitates him inside of the bathroom (this explains why the tummy ticker isn’t in the bathroom in saw 2/7). When given the option to become an apprentice, he declines, and runs off to Cecilia, they have both been “wronged by John” they plan revenge. We then get a title card that says *7 months later* (this certifies the movies placement between saw 2 and 3) back in America, John, Hoffman and Amanda are running a new game with 5 people. It is important to note that there are many photos of the victims laying all around the trap. John leaves midway through the game, as he has some “business” that he needs to attend too, that leaves Hoffman and Amanda running the game by them selves, this can have some fun scenes between them. About 3 quarters of the way through the game, there are 2 players remaining, but Cecilia and Henry break in and tranquillize and kidnap them, the game continues though, as we know that games run automatically (shown in saw 5 and 6). Hoffman and Amanda wake up locked in the bathroom. Cecillia tells the aprentacies that they shouldn’t have let Henry go knowing where the bathroom was. Cecillia then reminds them once again by saying “I told you I don’t have a moral code, this trap, is unwinable”, then she and Henry leave the room, turn off the lights and say “game over”, then slam the door shut. Amanda starts panicking, but Hoffman without hesitation breaks his foot and tells Amanda to do the same. She does and they both crawl out of the bathroom, the door being unlocked as Cecilia doesn’t have a key. They go back to the warehouse and finish the game and then we get a 2 month time jump (2 months before saw 3). There feet are healed, but Amanda is getting flashbacks to the bathroom and having to break her foot as this was much worse then having to hurt someone else. Hoffman reassures her that he made a fail safe of sorts and hid a key to the door of the bathroom and the key to the chains behind one of the pipes just in case they were ever locked in there again, this calms Amanda. But the idea of an unwinnable trap stays in Amanda’s head. If Cecillia and Henry was gonna put them in an unwinnable trap , then she would put them in the same situation. So then she puts Cecillia and Henry in an unwinnable trap of sorts. We then see Amanda’s next few unwinnable traps and her love for them. We then time jump again to right before saw 3. Before the game begins Hoffman walks in to the surgical room from saw 3 and says, “photos have come in from some guy named Adam”, and John says, “ah yes, I want you to hang those up on officer Riggs apartment walls. This then leads in to the flashback in saw 5. But after this scene we get another flashback to earlier in the movie when John left for “buissness”. John walks into an unknown room, and we here a farmilliar accent. Zepp eleven starts playing as we see Adam stanheight. We then see flashbacks explaining how he survived (I don’t need to say how, we all know the adams alive theory). Among all these flashbacks, we see the conversation between John and Adam witch would be something like this, “your photos are working excentlly with the game we are running”, “well shouldn’t you be there running it?”, “no I have my disciples, I am here to talk to you about photos I need for Officer Riggs game, it won’t be for a while but I need a lot of photos, so here’s a list”. And then the movie ends Post credit scene- it’s a very short scene, we see Hoffman exploding his werehouse like we see in saw 7, and then the 3 piggy’s kidnapping him, but after Hoffman passes out, Gordon says something like, “thank your for the help”, we then see Adam take off his mask, but then the second piggy takes of the mask revealing dr Logan Nelson. The final riff of hello zepp plays and the screen goes to blackq

Ik this wont happen but I'd love to see a remake/directors cut of saw 7. The film ended up being rushed and of course was planned to be two films. It would be great to see the original vision plus It has the potential to be great but failed imo

It’s gonna be interesting to see how they deal with Cecilia. I hope we get some finality about Hoffman after the saw 7 ending. It would also be great to see gordon again (and who were the other 2 masked accomplices).

I am honestly most interested in who eventually "wins" the right to be John's "heir". In theory it could be Hoffman, Gordon or Logan. However I feel like it should be someone worthy of continuing his legacy, and Hoffman does not fit that role, so either Gordon or Logan.

I'd still like to see a definitive conclusion to the Cecilia story that they started. She doesn't seem the type to accept that she was beaten and just walk away without trying to get her revenge on John and Amanda.

Saw 11 will be Amanda protecting John from Cecilia because he has let his guard down because she passed her test but Amanda doesn't believe people can change and Cecelia will be the catalyst for inescapable traps. John needs to be in 11 and if they plan on continuing the main story so does Dr Gordan. Saw 11 will set up the rivalry between Gordon and Hoffman and the may even recast Cary. I hope they don't rush the film and keep the same quality if not higher for the next films and they need to lean into character depth and cool twists rather than the old silly trap fest. Saw 2 house and the traps that never got used may be what Hoffman uses next!

Super excited about these potential leaks and such! There's so much you can do with this series it's insane! I've been waiting for a true follow-up to Saw 3D for well over a decade now! Having Saw XI set-up and explore more of Hoffman's character in the background (or foreground) of the film and then seeing the true conclusion in the potential Saw XII would be absolutely amazing and the perfect send off for his character if it's written super well! Again, there's just so much this franchise can do, I'd still love a prequel film prior to Saw I exploring John, Amanda, Hoffman (and even Logan). And I'm still holding out for a Jigsaw 2 & Spiral 2! Can't wait!

Imagine if Detective Tap finally got to return. Another movie chronologically taking place before SawIII would give a good reason why he’s the last of the department that just never returned. His disappearance could be re-written as him having been killed in SawXI.

I would love for saw 11 to have Detective Kerry and Detective Fisk on the trail of the apprentice. Meanwhile, Hoffman is rigging Amanda traps and the twist would be Kerry is suspicious a little on Hoffman, and send word to agent Perez and Stromm. But Hoffman ahead of Kerry and set her up to jigsaw as the next victim And saw 12 could be an all out trap brawl with Gordon, Logan, and Shank and Fisk stops them all Also I would love to see the back breaker from the game in the movie

I've always been curious to seeing the conclusion and aftermath to Hoffman being left to die in the bathroom. We know in Jigsaw that it's been 10 years after John's death and no other games have been played so we assume Hoffman is dead but maybe he didn't die in the bathroom maybe he escaped and went after Gordon. We definitely should see what hoffman has learned from John and his life as a crooked detective. Saw 12 should have all the answers we need for saw 3d. We could also be introduced to a new character and he gets trapped and has to save other test subjects from traps. I feel like the other 2 people in the pig mask should be revealed as Daniel and a grown up Carlos (although I had rigg being alive but after saw x it would make sense for one of them to be Carlos). Maybe John took carlos under his wing and taught him the philosophy and went to America. Possibly, Carlos promised if anything happened to John he’d help take over his legacy. And Carlos could possibly become jigsaw’s greatest apprentice ever. Daniel could also want to avenge his dad (Eric matthews) death and maybe being trapped in the abandon house taught him something in a way I guess.

This sounds like a complete reboot of the series. Completely changing the story. lol

I saw a comment here saying that they want saw 11 to be Amanda saving John from Cecelia as she escaped by making some in-escapable traps hence why she later on Rigs her traps later on and also I wanna know how Hoffman got to know about Amanda and Cecil going to the hospital where cecil killed the Jill and John's baby for him to blackmail Amanda later on.

I think this channel should be renamed to ‘Hoffman Sauce’ due to all the simping that goes on for him here 😂
