I work with a middle aged Russian woman and I've been practicing my Russian with her. I was all about saying "ладно" when she'd tell me to do something, then eventually after some time and many a ладно later she gave me a look and said "you should say хорошо. Ладно makes you sound like an old man. It's what my father says, "ладно! Ладно! Ладно!"". I still say it because it's a fun word to say, but I might switch to "понятно".

great work, Fedor I just love it. But have you thought of this: After your session with english explanations redo exactly the same thing in russian in the same vid. It seems litle efford for you but great results for your followers. Besides you know повторение - мать учение! would be потрясающый!!!!!!!!

Say... Isn't "понял" also used for "over?" As in when someone is talking over a radio or walkie-talkie, and they say "over" to signal that they're done speaking and waiting for a response. And isn't it also used for "roger" or "10-4", as in signifying over the radio that a message is understood? I seem to recall hearing понял used in that capacity, among Russian military and police.
@alexeygerasimov59763 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right, also "принял" may be used in this case, despite it is more about receiving things, but I think here "thing" is message itself

@user-hl2xe4tx4v3 жыл бұрын
До сих пор=всё ещё,Sorry, I’m still learning Russian. You are in the middle of doing something or being somewhere, Russian до сих пор like still in English. Ещё like yet, but yet has two meaning in Russian, and if I say “she hasn’t completed the meeting yet” in this sentence the meaning of yet will be like Russian ещё До сих пор и ещё very similar, and sometimes there are not difference between them Maybe my explanation will help you 😅😅😅
@mickrobertson77823 жыл бұрын
@@user-hl2xe4tx4v Yes, thanks-it's just a little confusing. I've talked to Russian friends about it, and it seems like both can be used as "still" or "yet" in similar contexts, so it's a little tricky. I'd just like to really get where each might be more appropriate. Thank you, though!

До сих пор - until now, or so far Еще - yet, other meaning is more Examples: 1. Он до сих пор не прочитал книгу. - He until now hasn’t yet read the book. Here you can hear a bit of annoyance - it takes him so long to read the book. 2. Он еще не прочитал книгу. - He hasn’t yet read the book. In this example it doesn’t have that annoyance or disappointment tone, more sounds defensive or just like a statement.
