I have heard of times when students have attempted to imitate an event the school held, and the only punishment they got for advertising it at school was having the advertisements taken down. They could still get away with holding the event in a remote location.

I never had a Talent Show, but I did have school concerts where I viciously competed to have a solo in the choir. It was about the only time I felt as wacky and over the top as the kids in this series, and when I was slipping in Physics and had to accept tutoring because the teacher was exactly like the science teacher Sweeney here.

I don’t know how big the school is supposed to be but there is no way you could fit everybody in one classroom for a secret talent show. I never did it but I do remember that we had one in high school.

My experience with a school talent show: It was only available at middle school level. We had to audition (most likely because of time limit for the whole show). We only had to do the one audition and we were told when we would perform. Had a 4 minute limit per act. I entered as a dancer for Don’t Stop Believing. Everyone had to attend. It took place in the cafeteria, since there was a stage there made for announcements. Parents were allowed to come (mine didn’t). I ended up getting first place.

My highschool had a talent show, I actually played Van Halen's version of You Really Got Me and cut it off at the solo by playing a metal guitar solo. It was approved technically during the "audition phase" because of the song but they weren't expecting the last part. It went over pretty well at the very least haha

I remember having a mandatory talent school, it allowed pretty much any talent but every student in the year needed to take part... so I ended up just doing calculations off the top of my head (maths was my best subject)

this is a really good reaction. I’ve computed talent shows back when I was in school especially at social events that I go to and it’s really fun. Some talent shows have trophies for people win first place for me. I got honorable mention for performing, even though I didn’t win

Ya we didnt have talent shows at my middle/high school but we did have Winter and Spring Showcase which would consist of us performing music from either the band, piano or choir. Was always the best since most of us would either go to Sandy Lake or Austin for competitions (was a charter school btw lol)

New recommendation for a show to review: Doug. There's one episode in particular, "Doug Directs", in which a group of middle school students are rehearsing for a school play with zero adults in the building, and they get snowed in. Obviously this would be a massive crisis and the school district would probably clean house if it happened in real life. There are also a few episodes where students are going to a school that is still under construction, major safety hazard. And there's a hilarious band director at the school who acts like a drill sergeant. Bottom line, it's a show right up your alley and it'd be pretty neat to see a school administrator react to all the chaos in the show.

I just realized the school initials are PMS. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t on purpose, but I wonder how many kids would be making jokes because they’re kids who are presumably just learn out this stuff.

this episode reminds me of a dumb event at my old school. so back in the day they would force us older kids to take part in some long marathon(the younger kids held a soccer tournament) and i would basicly skip it each year. here's the funny part: the day after the event i get into our homeroom and our teacher just starts berating us. apparantly only 2 of us showed up to the dumb thing. they scrapped the entire idea after that and had the older kids also take part in the soccer tournament in the following years. oh and yes my parents were ok with me skipping the dumb thing since i wasn't learning anything during it anyways.

If high school talent shows are rarer than middle school and elementary school ones, then I'm certainly surprised to hear that, but I guess I never really thought about it before hahaha, so thanks for the insight. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that my high school did have an after school talent show because I seem to remembering attending one and having a nice time watching it. It probably helped that my high school had a pretty strong theater program with the auditorium being regularly used for plays/musicals

I think the norm is that you often need to buy a ticket to the talent show. I don’t have any experience with school-administered talent shows, but I’ve heard that they function similarly to pep rallies, and I remember always having to buy a pep rally ticket in high school.

Ned also has the talent of creating a school survival guide. However, given that it’s his “declassified” survival guide, he most likely won’t disclose its contents to anyone but the viewers.

You see, I never had this happen in real life but if a lot teachers aren't happy with the talent show as well wouldn't that be also enough to want to change it as well if Both the students and teachers don't like something

I can verify that the chairs with three holes in the back have been phased out. The norm nowadays is one big hole in the back, or sometimes no holes at all.

Last year of my elementary school years, the classic talent show was invaded by.... The climb by Miley Cyrus, now picture literally every every everyone doing a bad cover of the climb while Miley sings. The torture I endured has left me scared till this day. I'm not exaggerating literally everyone did a "the climb" cover as that song was very new when I was in elementary school. (I believe it was mandatory that students show up, also I really don't like that song never have and never will. So yeah that didn't help.)

My high school talent show was so boring. It was always the same talent for majority of kids Just did guitar. A lot of us for a few years besides, just not go because it was just the same thing for years.

If kids were having this issue in real life, I'd either go with your solution of having a teacher mediate on their behalf; or hold "Talent-Palooza" outside of school time, as an event some of the kids' parents could host. When I was in high school, we had an anti-prom, and despite the idea being somewhat subversive, the host held it at her house and her mom chaperoned, so it wasn't too crazy or against any rules. This being TV, they needed a wacky scheme and conflict though.

I’m kind of glad they wouldn’t allow Moze’s woodcarving stunt in the actual talent show because it’s hazardous to have wood chips flying out into the audience and potentially getting in people’s eyes.
