Iam in Pittsburgh, we got a little known Attraction here called "gravity hill" is really wild exspirence, i actually was on the hill by accident first time, i was in work truck, an guy driving knew of the hill, but we stopped at bottom and he was joking said truck stalled out, i was freaking out when we seemingly started, truck turned off, ROLLING UP THE HILL BACKWARDS, it was a creepy thing when your not expecting it, its seriously cool optical illusion, you would swear gravity is playing tricks on you!

Trying to figure out a configuration on the cheap for a microphone with my gopro or osmo action. Like to know how you fo the speed overlays also. Starting to group ride here more.

Love these videos I have a pcx 125 here in the U.K. and do some long rides some times with the bike flat out at a speedo indicated 70mph.. it got me thinking about the belt life ect!? I know you’ve had trouble with belts do think this is the reason or was it the non stock variator? Or a bit of both… thanks for the videos
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and leaving feedback! Here is a long-winded answer that addresses the technical aspects of the CVT failure. My PCX's CVT and belt failures were caused by a combination of parts, both OEM and aftermarket. I know what failed in retrospect, but it wasn't apparent until the final straw broke the camel's back. The OEM torque drive assembly (rear pulleys, clutch, etc) was suspect since this bike was new. It always had a propensity toward belt slap and shuddering when taking off. The belt slap and shuddering usually only happened when it was cold or damp, but it always had trouble accelerating from a stop. My other PCX (2016 model) never acted that way, but I didn't think much about it. i installed a Dr.Pulley performance variator and sliders in it at around 1500 miles, and that performed very well over time. The sliders had a tendency to flip out of position and cause even more acceleration problems, but that was easy to fix by resetting them in the variator's movable face. I attributed the problem to a weak rear (contra) spring in the torque drive, and I intended to address it eventually. Unfortunately, a combination of factors between the suspect (now known to be faulty) OEM torque drive and the Dr.Pulley variator caused catestrophic failures on the Cannonball ride. The center bushing in the Dr.Pulley variator completely failed when it wallowed-out and allowed the movable face to wobble. The extra slack caused belt instability and twisting that shredded the belts. I discovered that damage on the morning of Day 3 of the Cannonball. On the morning of Day 3, I replaced the belt and front CVT components with identical parts (new Dr.Pulley variator and sliders), but it failed again by shredding a belt only ~300 miles later. The next teardown revealed that the OEM torque drive had failed and was causing the CVT and belt problems. The rear pulley wasn't moving in/out smoothly and it had blown the o-rings that kept the grease in the bearings. Oil and grease had contaminated the CVT housing and belt... not good. I rode the support truck for Days 4-5, and then I replaced everything with new Honda parts on the evening of Day 5. New CVT drive face and movable face, new CVT rollers, new CVT belt, and a new complete rear torque assembly... back to stock. I didn't experience any more failures for the remaining 2500+ miles of the Cannonball. My top speed was reduced to the original 62-63 mph, but at least I didn't need to sit in the sun on the side of the highway to replace more CVT belts! 😉👍 --QM

What trailer is that attached to the other guy's (Neil?) bike?
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard Жыл бұрын
Neil is a mad scientist fabricator and welder. He custom fabricated that trailer from a wrecked/disposed Honda Ruckus frame. The front pivot is the Ruckus steering stem and downtube, and the rear wheel is the Ruckus front wheel. Everything else for the draw bar (towing attachment), frame, and swingarm were fabricated in Neil's backyard shop. I need to do a full walkaround video of this recent trailer build so everyone can revel in Neil's handiwork. We did a walkaround video for one of his previous scooter trailer creations on his 2013 Yamaha Zuma 125: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nq52p9qJu-DHY2Q.html . This newer trailer follows a similar theme... it's just bigger and beefier to haul more stuff! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

I'm considering purchasing a 2024 Rebel 500cc. Can you recommend a trailer to tow behind it? Enjoy the content.
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I can definitely recommend the KipMoto SherpaX trailer: kipmoto.com/pages/sherpax I don't know if KipMoto has a hitch for the Rebel 500, but the owner (Joel) can fabricate one if you give him the dimensions. I have the SherpaX trailer and mounts (hoops) for the Honda Super Cub (also fits the Trail 125), Honda CB500X, and the Yamaha XT250. I'm considering asking Joel to fabricate a hitch for my Honda Rebel 1100 as well! I pulled the SherpaX behind my Super Cub for 10K miles around the USA during the Scooter Cannonball Run in July 2021. Both the motorcycle and the trailer performed flawlessly... not a single mechanical failure for over 10K miles! Here is the video playlist if you're interested: 2021 Scooter Cannonball Run: kzfaq.info/sun/PLLXxDh3JumLnSK37lF4AcrF28frAIfLfA . Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

How did you get that overlay on the video at the start of the ride?
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard Жыл бұрын
Howdy! The gauge overlay is generated using a third-party program called Telemetry Extractor: goprotelemetryextractor.com/ . The telemetry data for the HUD is recorded by my GoPro Hero11 camera and my Garmin Zumo GPS (when I'm riding with it). Telemetry Extractor lets you create custom dashboard overlays with any gauge data that you want to visualize (e.g., GPS position, map, altitude, speed, lean angle, G-force, 3-axis G-force, etc). The gauges can be "burned-into" an output video that's ready to publish, or you can export a transparent MOV file to use as an overIay in another editing program. I use the transparent overlay option and stitch everything together with Adobe Premiere Pro to create the final videos. It's a lot of extra work to create the overlays, but I think the end results are worth the effort. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

It might be a while before all of the episodes are published. I'm looking at about 15-17 episodes (roughly one per day of the trip). So far, I'm crunching through about one episode every 10 days, so it's probably going to be a few months before I complete the series. 😉👍 --QM

The clip-on visor mounts? Those are definitely better than the one I tried last year that had a big aluminum clip right in the center. It's better to have those slightly annoying mounts and the deflection of that visor than to have the constant wind noise and bug strikes on my camera lens! There are a lot of compromises and legwork behind the scenes to record and produce these videos. 😉 --QM
