As a Mechanic/Welder/Metal fabricator I can attest that we do hoard a lot of metal things like screws and bolts,weird metal things,angle iron and sheets, and tubing both round and square shaped. Also random car parts and tools for just about every trade. That house was not bad by hoarding standards.

That thing that was springy, is you push it in the ground, and you put your fishing rod in the other end and put the line around the trigger. An when you get a good bite, it sets the trigger off and pulls your rod up too make sure your line is set.

Made a great curbside today. I had my trailer on to pick up a rider and a snowmobile frame. Headed to town because I needed gas and had to pick up a treadmill. Just outside of town I saw an automatic transmission sitting by a mailbox. Went around the block and pulled to the side. Guy runs down the hill and says we just started! Pulls a trailer behind his lawn mower loaded with swag. 2 more transmissions, a WORKING 3500 watt generator, Jonserud chain saw, 9.8 horse Mercury boat motor, wire, starters, alternators, 3 big bags of crushed aluminum cans and so on. Every day is a treasure hunt!

The black blow up can be used for to test plumbing systems you put in the end of the pipe fill the other end with water and look for leaks

Old, antique, handmade tools and odd miscellaneous items are exciting to discover. My wife’s grandfather was a machine for NASA, and I’ve found countless custom trinkets, gadgets, and thingamajigs that I have no earthly idea what their function could be. Very cool to admire and imagine their purpose though.

Even more fun is to take those tools and find your own unique uses for them I have a few tools that I have no idea their names or proper purpose but they serve me well in my scrapping endeavors

The hand/foot air pump and round plug is a Air Inflated Plug to be inserted into a DWV Sewer Pipe to block un-wanted flow of waste.

That video hits hard I had to scrap out the guys yard that got me into scrapping and up cycling things then I had to auction off all of my uncle Dave's life time of treasure after he passed and it was so hard cause I helped both of them and learned so much from them! In the end let the God's bless us for the good and teach us to right the wrongs we've done and move on!

So glad I found your channel man, I did something real similar (minus the go pro) for 5-6 years and eventually lost my truck (Ford Ranger 😁) then got a van (Plymouth Grand Voyager) and fortunately had removable bench seats in the back so basically I would take out all the benches and would use it as a cargo van for my scrapping adventures lol. But by watching your videos and seeing how you clearly don't allow anything to fk up your positive energy it's been really inspiring to push myself to get back into it. Thanks for being awesome brother

I Looooooove Estate Sales especially where the kids are fed up with all the stuff and just want it to "go away", I have often wandered in early and said "after the sale can I come walk through with you and I'll haul away all I can for free?", truckloads, literally truck loads of great stuff.

The piece you asked about. It looked to be for fishing. You set it with rod in the pipe and set. It would set the hook. When fish pull on the line.

Here's a trick for getting better price for copper ( only) Get a 30 or 55 gallon drum. Buy vinegar in gallons. 1/2 fill one or another. Keep a lid to keep rain water from diluting. Toss in dirty copper for a few days. Instant #2. After dry.

That pump with the inflatable ball on the end looks like something plumbers would use to test their work. You could put that ball in the end of an open pipe and blow it up to make a seal and then fill the pipe with water to check for leaks.

nice haul, a lot of interesting finds... sorry to hear about how he passed, i had a friend/co-worker who died the same way, pancreatic cancer, early 60's, by the time he got it diagnosed, stage 4, he was gone in a month. just met a guy like this, yard full of stuff, "take this, take that", going back for the riding lawn mower, which will be interesting getting into the truck, tip it up onto the gate, and somehow pick up the other end, will probably need help with that part.

I have a small trailer and I use it as a scrap metal bin. When I pick up brake rotors I just toss them in and when it fills up off I go to the scrap yard

Wow a good video and blast from the past on those things!!! Like they is true TIME waits for no one including metal. Some of those real pieces should fine there way in museum to show how much technology was better made than cheap throw away products we have today. Keep it up buddy 👍 but remember look out for yourself when you do a job you do a lot of hard work for it and your heart is in a good place but time is money to get and not always to give back. Excellent Thub, we'll make a secondhand dealer out of you yet!! All you need is a suitable shop somewhere to open weekends and these type of deceased estate deals will find you more and more often!! Five days a week out treasure hunting and filming your adventures - and the weekends in the shop retailing the good stuff while editing your videos!! Well that's what I do anyways!! 😁😁👌👌

That bike pump on the rubber bulb is a test plug for pvc drain pipe. When checking for leaks in new work. Required by code for inspections.

I always feel that dealing with Empire is like dealing with that small town outfit where they know your name and your father's name too. But that said, I was at Recon dropping off a few pieces of aluminum with my shred and the guy called me by name so there you go. The folks in the scale office know me without having to identifying myself too now that I think about it. Perhaps I'm infamous.

Johnny when I was learning the ins and outs of junking I was told that it pays to get to know the people that run the scale because then you can ask for a better price on scrap or sometimes they will make you a better deal. I have been able to call the scrap yard and ask them to stay open for me because I was running late and they said yes. GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL WHO READ THIS AMEN.

I live in a former farming community, back in the 80's there was a farm auction 8 out of 12 months, mainly small older farms that the kids didn't want to take over and were being bought up either bigger farmers or developers, there was one Auctioneer who started out his auctions with misc stuff then progressed to bigger more valuable stuff as the auction proceeded. He would start out at $10, then 5 then 1 nobody bid, "put something with it"! was his cry, they would keep putting stuff with it until there was a $1 bid, I got sooooo much stuff that way, another auction I went to they had literally pulled the contents out of some sheds and put it out in the driveway, I bid on a 100 foot stretch of driveway covered in steel for a $100, then sold individual items out of it and recovered my bid money, my front wheels were off the ground on the way home. aaah, I love living in a rich society as I live off the leavins from the richer folk! I drove some kids to a Cross Country meet 40 miles away today, on the side of the freeway was a big plastic tub with handles, a load binder and a 6ft aluminum ladder, could I stop? Crap nope...Sigh...

Hello from Sweden again. You know the good thing about scrapping is what we call "weekday excersice", no need for the gym. I don't know if I told you but I got a new job, building trailers. You should get one of our bigger ones with hydraulic tilt and a winch 🤣
