I remember seeing this in theaters and how freaked out everyone was. For a while I think everyone thought it was Randy, but when he died everyone was shocked because he had a good chance of being the killer, but nobody wanted him to be the killer. He really made this movie fun and I hated when he died, but it served a purpose because suddenly it really felt like nobody was off limits.

The beauty about the Scream movies is that even the lesser films are still solid movies. Scream is one of the rare horror franchises where, yes, it has flaws, but every movie is still very watchable and enjoyable. Other horror franchise sequels can really drop in quality and enjoyment - that's not the case for the Scream franchise

Totally agree, even 3 is enjoyable. 1 is a masterpiece, 2 proved horror sequels can be good and 4 is surpringly great. I am actually stressed for 5 because Wes Craven won't be there and long running movie franchises tend to turn bad with time even if they were once masterpieces. True but to be fair, the Scream series always had a much higher budget than the other slasher series, hence big name ie. expensive actorss in the cast. Scream 2 cost $25 million to make, they were still making slasher films a few years prior for only $3-$4 million

I agree. The Scream series is half Kevin's and half Wes'. Without Kevin's writing we wouldn't have these beloved characters and who dunnit mysteries. But Kevin said on the DVD commentary of the first film that he only wrote action scenes as one line, usually. "The killer chases Sidney through the house." "The killer kills Casey in her front yard" All of the pazzazz that gives these movies the right flavour is Wes Craven's tense direction and great ideas for chase scenes, violence, and set pieces. But the skeleton of Scream was built by Kevin, Wes attaches the meat and the skin.
@WrestlingSmarks
@WrestlingSmarks 2 жыл бұрын
It really begins to bother me because it’s so prevalent. It’s always referred to as Wes Craven’s Scream and people actually think he wrote it as well as the sequels. Which Kevin has only not written 3 and the final act of 4.
@WrestlingSmarks
@WrestlingSmarks 2 жыл бұрын
@@jadeandjesse5908 that’s actually what a writer should do. The visual style and action and set pieces is what a director brings to a project. And Wes Craven does it like no other. But Williamson needs more credit when people talk about the characters, story, dialogue, mystery and the meta nature of it.

@@LA_HA Exactly, for instance, "Steven King's '......'", or "Clive Barker's '......'", or even "Jordan Peele's "Candyman"....their names were mostly credited although they only wrote the stories or scripts. it does neglect that she does still in fact have a back door to her house. it’s good for the scene but there’s really no reason she had to go upstairs, unless she needed to get to her computer to contact someone and that was her intent. I don’t think she ever hung up the phone so it’s possible.

While not my fave of the series I’ve always liked the attention to detail of fact that Mrs Loomis is never seen by Sydney til the end reveal as she was the only one who knew Mrs Loomis was Billy’s mum by sight. Like you don’t even notice that Sydney is never around when she is around coz she pops up so often & so randomly, it doesn’t feel like it’s being done on purpose & you never notice til the reveal itself.

It’s probably the single most unrealistic death in the entire series, followed by Randy later in the movie. A crowded theater full of people going bonkers like they’re in a sports arena couldn’t witness a murder happening. It’s definitely effective, but I wouldn’t call it realistic.

The third film was written by Ehren Kruger, he adapted the American version of The ring and its sequel. Wes Craven only wrote films up until Wes Craven's New Nightmare, afterwards all the rest of his films were just directed by him and written by someone else. Wtf? Its actually the contrary,Scream 3 is always considered as good by the fans just because its part of the original trilogy,even when Wes himself and everyone involved in that movie said that they hated it so much because of all of the re-writes,at the end that movie is just a mess. Scream 4 is not that good but it is much better than Scream 3,and it got a lot of hate just because the original trilogy was totally glorified

I was 11 when I saw this in the theater and I remember being terrified when Sidney and her roommate had to crawl out of the cop car. I could feel the tension in the theater.

I like how Scream 2 takes its time for us to get to empathize with the characters. There is some real human drama. I like the chat Sidney has with her drama teacher. I love that Gale Weathers has a personal crisis. Should she stop at nothing to get the story? Should she start being a decent human being and help solve this instead of capitalizing on it. I love the suspense too. Sure there are some plot holes but if it’s to get characters into unbearably tense situations like that cop car scene, I’m all for it. This is how you make an effective horror movie. Scream was special because of its being the first to poke fun at horror movies in this way but Scream 2 has better character development, better acting and better suspense. My only very minor complaint is that the movie doesn’t really feel like a horror movie. It feels like a very violent Murder She Wrote. The opening of the original felt very horrorish. Super terrifying.

Figured someone would have corrected you after the last one. But Scream 1 and 2 are famously written by Kevin Williamson (who went on to create Dawson's Creek). He unfortunately, though, did not write Scream 3. And neither did Wes Craven.

Solid sequel, a lot better than most slasher sequels. Most tense part was when Sidney and Hallie had to get out of the cop car with the killer in the drivers seat, not knowing if or when he'd jump out. Favorite kill was the cop with the pole through his head. It's been 25 years since I saw this in the theater so I don't remember who I suspected. I liked the twist though.

You two need to write a horror movie where everyone is the killer, but nobody knows it and they just end up killing each other off.

When you guess just about every person in the movie is the killer it doesn't count as you got it right. I do enjoy that Sydney and Mrs Loomis never meet until the reveal.

Fun meta fact, the line from Aliens is actually "Get away from her you bitch" but Joshua Carter Jackson messes up his line so Jaime Kennedy ran with it and said the wrong line all smug lol. Also in Scream, when he's watching Jaime Lee and Stu is behind him, him saying "look behind you Jaime." And lastly, when Sydney is watching in the van with Kenny, she actually lets 'Watch out Jaime' slip and it made the final cut.

Just a fun fact Matthew Lillard is in this movie he was dating Neve Campbell at the time and Wes Craven decided to have him be a background extra in the party scene because he was there, so Stu could be alive, a tv falling on your head doesn’t necessarily kill you, you could survive with a bad concussion or be in a coma and scarred up face of course, also Matthew Lillard did say in an interview he thinks Stu survived and would love to come back as Stu in a new movie, he also said before all the rewrites in scream 3 Stu was supposed to come back as one of the killers and said that Wes Craven said he wanted him to come back someday.

It's always the same voice actor (Roger L. Jackson) in the films doing the basic Ghostface voice (except when they reveal the killer(s) at the end, then it is probably a mix) so you can't analyze the voice as a clue.

I called the killers right when I first watched this in the theater, but I got Mrs. Loomis' motive wrong. I thought she was just a reporter who was trying to make a name for herself and get rich and famous. I was surprised when they revealed she was Billy's mother. The suspense in this one was outstanding: Gale's chase scene, Sid and Halle in the cop car. It was all just so well done.

Oh and Matthew Lillard (Stu) He had an uncredited cameo appearance as "Guy at Party" in Scream 2.. Him and Neve started dating while filming Scream and were together for little over 2 years. So in Scream when he said " I always had a thing for you Sid" it was true lol. He would come visit on set all the time so they made him a extra lol. You can barely see him it's a little blurred you just see a blond hair cause that what he had lol and can hear him talking to some in the background
