I saw them at the Paladium 1969. We were 3 rows back. When they started playing it was like standing behind an F16 on full afterburners

The video has absolutely nothing to do with the song itself, except whoever made it was trying to capture the time period of when it was recorded. I think Lex caught on to sunglasses because she was paying attention to the images presented. Creator, well done! As far as I can recall, I've never seen The Who performing with sunglasses on. Least not in their early days. Love when we see Brad getting it!

Twiggy, Reagan, Ali, a blonde actress, Gandhi daughter, some government candidates, it was a video about the times, hippies, war, nuclear arms protesters, and that kind of thing the 60's were famous for.

Awesome song--Keith Moon wild on the drum, great guitar work by Pete, Awesome bass by John and just great vocals by Roger and the guys. The refrain is super catchy and poetic.

HOLY CRAP BRAD WAS RIGHT! Fantastic song, one of The Who's best, which is saying a lot.

Paul McCartney has said this song was the inspiration to him writing Helter Skelter. He had read some review where this was described as heaviest song ever or something. Paul had not heard it yet but still wanted The Beatles to do something even heavier and louder. Both songs are great ones.

Unbelievably, this was the Who's only top ten hit in the U.S., reaching #9.

When watching the video, I got the feeling the song was about the singer telling deceivers (politicians, media, etc) that the singer was on to them, that rather than walking around not paying attention to more than the three feet in front of their face, they could "see for miles"...the were clued in, tuned in, aware, and informed

This is the song that brought The Who to my attention while being in the eight grade at Thomas Edison JHS in Port Arthur.

I can't imagine how confusing this video would be for those in your generation. I'm 66 years old, and the clips in this video were very familiar to me. Ronald Reagan, Muhammed Ali, Indira Ghandi (former Prime Minister of India), Twiggy (a famous model from the late '60's), F-4 Phantom II fighter-bombers over Vietnam, the whole hippy/free-love movement, and, The Who...this really took me back. Thanks.

Keith Moon was as usual insanity perfect. So sad he went to soon. RIP KEITH, the toon rocks and the Who is my favorite band who stood the test of time. Every c.s.i. show on tv has used their songs as intros. Loudest concert ever, and the last time I saw them live my ears rang for days, well worth it.

This is a good Who song to focus on the sound - 'cause it sounds really good! Townsend has a story about how one of his proudest moments was sharing a cab ride with Benjamin Britten (classical composer), who told him he "greatly admired" the chord progression in "I Can See For Miles And Miles".
