About 5 years ago I started putting self love in to practice. I quit smoking. Got rid of bad relationships. Quit drinking alcohol. Got back in to the dance studio. Started a workout regimen. Changed my diet. Changed my sleep schedule. Started therapy. I “date” myself; take myself to movies, dinner, and other events. Travel with intention (yoga retreat) and try my very very best to keep self talk positive. It is hard work and sometimes scary but soooo worth it. The other day the instructor to a workout video I just finished said “thank you for showing up for yourself” I started to cry. Show up for yourself ❤️ UPDATE: May 1st 2020. A little over a year from writing this comment. I just wanted to share for anyone who needs to hear it. All of the changes I made helped me come off of antidepressants that I had taken for 21 years for anxiety and depression (of course with the help and guidance of a doctor and therapist) I was also able to come off of medication I was taking for I.B.S as well as birth control pills for terrible periods. I have have been medication free for one full year 😊

loveing your self is not about looking in the mirror or taking a selfie thinking how hot you look or delivering your self in a way to act and look as you think others think you should... Self love is more like self respect in the fact we have been given the gift of life... Love your self enough to not drink to much or poison your body and mind with toxic things... love your self enough to take care of your body, not for vanity but for the health and vitality of your body... Taking care of your body and mind because life is a gift and the fact that you are here is a mirrical... You are a mirrical, so love your self and others around you deeply with nothing but respect. In high school, I always asked other people for their opinion before I make a decision. I don't want other people hated me. I tried so hard to make other people happy, but I'm not. I feel so stress, anxiety and crying alone. No one knows. I let people insulted me, as long as them happy. I said to myself, "It's okay, as long them happy, I will be happy". Unfortunately, I'm not. After I finish my high school, I learn to love myself and put it as my first priority. Now I appreciate myself and I don't care about other peoples opinion. Why? Because I want to be happy, I want to be my own self.

Last year, October to December, I was in a relationship where I started to lose myself and my problems ran deeper than my spouse, yea we had our issues but the relationship interrupted my healing process and I was not where I wanted to be so I had to let him go even though I really loved him. I had to start my self growth journey for me because I wanted to be somewhere mentally and physically. Now, in February 2022, I am finally healing from my break up and childhood trauma. I took on journaling, manifestations, working out, self love & business seminars, affirmations, college applications and I feel myself growing as a person and as a women. I continue to remind myself sometimes we all have to lose before we win and I have gotten closer to God and he has blessed me in ways, that I am forever grateful for. Some days I miss my ex but I remind myself that I am doing this for me and I am at peace and happy with the life I am living now. All I can say is stay positive, motivated and pray❤️. Thank you for letting me know I’m on the right path.

That’s right no one is in control of our happiness but ourselves. Once I stopped getting mad at my parents and other people who hurt me and stopped putting my energy there, amazing things happened. I realized that I can choose what to think about, and thinking about being mad made me feel worse. So now I live in happiness, not thinking about other people.

i knew i had the strength to pick myself up but i didn’t know how strong i was. i believe that happiness is something you create for yourself by your own. personal growth has to be intentional. it doesn’t happen by accident. the more you focus energy on getting to know yourself, staying alone, the more you realize how happy and stable you become. you become the person you want to be rather than the person you are told to be. without self love you take away from the ability you have to pour into others’ life from kindness to love to helpfulness… the relationship i have with myself is the most important relationship. am i giving value to myself? know your worth so the universe knows too.

If we could understand why someone as beautiful as yourself had such a lack of self love, then perhaps we could help a lot of other people that don't have half of what you poses. Congratulations, you exude confidence and you actually look the part of what you've described yourself wanting to be, a model, in more ways than one. As a role model you now have a tremendous responsibility to act accordingly; therefore the best thing you can do, is to expand the the love of self or self love to all sentient beings that share our planet with us. To come to a place with yourself to accept who you are within is so beautiful to me. Losing myself was the biggest struggle I ever had to deal with . And then to try and express yourself to hopefully seek help but instead be told how I’m using this because “ I wasn’t getting what I want in the moment and that there is nothing wrong with you.” Imagine not feeling safe in your own company . A world full of people and still feeling alone. Learning to love yourself before loving other brought so much life to my world . This speech is exactly what I need at this moment as someone who has just experienced something huge in self-discovery. Love your self first before love others. (BGM should be Love Yourself by J. Bieber)

Caitlyn, you're such an amazing inspiration for what it means to be peaceful and actually happy with ourselves. To get to know which potential we have in us and how great the feeling can be to discover this. Thank you!

Beautiful, deep, and reflexive journey thru this speech. So much truth, honesty, empathy, and respect for what life means. And it starts in ourselves. Such a mythical connection that we can create with our souls and feel it with others too. I call it "the awakening". Magical
