Today, I am discussing Thewizardliz and exploring whether the "self-love" she promotes is genuinely empowering or veers into narcissism. I also speak about self-help influencers online and examine the impact of their messages on their audiences.

She helped me immensely too.💗 1- from having an abusive childhood, and the kind of victim mentality I had. I couldn't do anything, and she was the only one encouraging me to stop it. And yes I managed to get things done (working harder). - getting more happy on my body, and having the courage to take the first step to get a healthier body. Other than working out, managing to take appointments to the doctor. Once upon a time I thought I was worthless. - less insecure - less scared about relationships and getting judged (not begin rude too, because begin rude attracts other negative things). No video will change my mindset about her. She has done me good.

Ladies, I’m so sorry you’ve had such struggles, but please! For your own sakes, find a better influence! This lady is preying on women with insecurities and problems like y’all have, negatively influencing y’all into becoming narcissists under the thin guise of trying to boost your confidence. Y’all are worthy people, you deserve the same love and respect everyone is entitled to, but _please_ don’t take advice from a woman like this. She doesn’t have your best interests in mind, she’s too busy thinking of her own. Sure, she may be right once in a while, but that just makes the lies more dangerous, because you naturally lower your guard overtime when you begin to give her more trust. Don’t open yourselves up to that, she’s selling false confidence.

Adam Smith (the Father of Economics, my profession): "Man naturally desires, not only to be loved, but to be lovely; or to be that thing which is the natural and proper object of love. He naturally dreads, not only to be hated, but to be hateful; or to be that thing which is the natural and proper object of hatred. He desires, not only praise, but praiseworthiness; or to be that thing which, though it should be praised by nobody, is, however, the natural and proper object of praise. He dreads, not only blame, but blame-worthiness; or to be that thing which, though it should be blamed by nobody, is, however, the natural and proper object of blame." I don't know, I watched this video, listened to those women, and I immediately thought of this quote from Adam Smith. Their problem is that, they can repeat to themselves and over again how "amazing" they are and still fail to convice themselves as much as I am sure they fail to convince many others, even if out of common politeness, they don't express it in public or to their face. Self-knowledge, an objective view of oneself (Adam Smith's "impartial spectator"), is difficult for most, more difficult that an objective view of other people, bui even in this particular realm, there are things that are just too obvious to be able to deny.

Self help can be a great thing if grounded in reality and not used for profit, and if it encourages self inquiry I think. It's just that it's become a trend, and people are offering unsolicited advice without having worked on themselves much. I like using the Tao Te Ching and that mindfulness book called 30 Days to Overcome Loneliness by Harper Daniels and other books for "self help" but I don't like listening to too many yt or social media influencers because I have no clue who they are or their background.

Thank you, Misha, for calling these people out. Right-wing spaces indulge "manifestation" too much because it creates a false sense of the "self-made man" and "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps." This nonsense ruins lives and wastes potential. I hate that it makes its way into business and that, instead of encouraging workers to improve in concrete ways, employers force them to listen to this nonsense for hours and waste time that could be spent productively on seminars with speakers and "gurus" like this. I hate when employers complain that their workers are unproductive and the work isn't done, when half the day is spent on these people. I hate that so many young entrepreneurs fall into the trap of listening to these people instead of learning about marketing strategy and financial management. They start to believe they can "manifest" their small business and give up when that strategy doesn't work because manifestation takes a lot of mental energy. I also hate that it makes its way into psychology and that so many therapists waste their clients' time with truisms and platitudes like "think positive" and "negativity is a cognitive distortion" and that people adopt it as a religion instead of going to church. I am so glad that the right is finally waking up to the nonsense that manifestation is. I fell into this trap twice and its a complete waste of time. Ultimately, in my opinion, your perspective/attitude (i.e. whether its positive or negative) doesn't really matter: your actions do, and negative and positive people are equally as productive, because neither smiling your negative emotions away or complaining is going to get the job done. FYI, people in the comments are just complaining about women being too picky like this is the main problem with Thewizardliz; I used to believe this red pill nonsense, but I met my husband at age 32 and I have no regrets because he is amazing and 100% worth waiting for. He is kind, selfless, hard-working, intelligent and shares my faith. He also waited a while to meet the right women and I am honored that its me, so I'm not saying its just women who need to ensure they marry well. I know many good men and women who married later in life. While I do wish I had met him earlier, I am overjoyed that its him and would wait another 10, 20, 30 years, however long, just for him. BOTH man and women should hold out for a good spouse; don't believe redpillers who tell you to marry the first rando you come across. I do think some men/women are too picky, but I also think basic standards are necessary (ex. for me, it was imperative that my husband permits me to practice my religion, including the sexual ethics (wait for marriage, no birth control, no living together before marriage) and baptizing our children, because my faith is my highest value. I don't think that's an unreasonable standard and I don't think that someone who didn't agree to it would be happy with me; I am blessed that I found a husband who not just begrudgingly agrees to let me be Catholic, but is a practicing Catholic himself. I'm not the only person in my friend group who had this struggle, and I have a few friends who found their spouses overseas (same age group); I'm blessed I found mine in the same country, but I had to move cities).

I think that people who are saying that they're: self-accepting themselves, don't care about others opinion, trying to be stunning and brave are just the opposite od those things. Why would valuable women complain about everthying in the internet and trying to teach self-acceptance to other women if they clearly don't accept themselves?

why is she terrible person? She had a trauma, her father tried to kill her and her sister. She is very traumatized person. This is her way to find confidence, happiness to marry a rich person and get therapy that she deserves and treatment. This is what trauma does to people. It lasts for years and years.

of course, but being judgmental is also extremely narcissistic. U should put yourself in someone else's shoes before you judge them. Then you would know what is like to be an empath. Empath doesn't judge people with trauma. Of course, some of her attitudes are really selfish. Of course there are some inconsistencies. I am done with defending her. You are right. Being selfish is wrong. At the end of the day, yes...but also she hasnt had a role model or a father figure to help her. Its no excuse. But some people are selfish because they had bad childhood. Her father tried to kill her so you know it sounds really bad if you look it like that. She turned out fine, she was raised fatherless. There are plenty girls who ware fatherless doing drugs and pornography. Which is terrible. All narcissists? Yes, we are all sinners. Who is without a sin should cast the first stone.

@@narlowemcfarlowe2952 that doesnt make her a terrible person. We are all narcissist. Check out Robert Green. We all have some narcissistic tendencies. There are dangerous narcissist, and benign narcissist. Nothing in between. This is an exercise people use to get better. I was actually cutting my hair i believed i was worthless and society told me that. This is a great exercise for people who never had childhood. Just to change their belief system. Being too judgmental is not cool look at the scripture. Laughing at people isn't cool either. Sounds a bit like you're arrogant. Judging people is addictive it says I am better than u right of the bat. It stems from deep insecurities and envy. But there is more to person then just what they show on social media. I am telling you this not to harm you. You actually need to really believe you are better than everyone else, to be a narcissist. I am not sure that person who is doing these exercises really believes that. But i wouldn't blame her because she is really pretty. Like 10/10. So, for her to be humble is probably impossible. As for the rest of us mortals. But I can honestly say I never met a truly beautiful woman to be a bully. It's almost always the ugly ones in the corner. If they could get her hands of her they would. Narcissist is Regina George the cheating woman, lying and deceitful woman is a narcissist.

I honestly don’t care about anyone’s opinions on Liz because she has genuinely helped me to become a more confident and better version of myself. When I was depressed and insecure about being single I was fully prepared to make sacrifices from my standards just so I could get a guy. But why would I want to make myself lesser just so someone could love me? Do I really value myself so little that I’d let male attention rule my every move? No. And I’m all the better for her advice. I’ve not been heartbroken, abused, trampled over like some of my friends. I know my value as a person and continue to work on myself daily. The fact that I was willing to throw my virginity away just for some attention because everyone around me had a boyfriend is so sad. And I’m so happy that I’m saving my body and soul for a person that loves the best version of me. You’re missing a lot of the context of what Liz is saying, she also lets the viewer know that if YOU want something then YOU have to work for it, be deserving of it. She’s not saying that all women should run around demanding their man buys them LV and Prada, she’s saying that if you have a standard, stick to it. There is truly a significant rise in men who think they can do nothing in a relationship and Liz is here to tell the girls not to waste their time and energy on them because there’s someone out there that will treat you like a princess.

This is literally SO shallow. In regards to the girl saying she is attracted to money, if you can't love someone when you are both dirt poor, you don't actually love them. My mom has told me of how poor she and my dad were when they were first married. They had to have their date nights at McDonalds because that was what they could afford. They are going to be celebrating their 31st wedding anniversary later this summer and have been such an amazing example of a healthy, loving relationship. To me, that is much more beautiful than wanting all this money.
