I found this channel about 3 weeks ago by chance while looking up plowing videos for fun since I plow on Long Island. I also have been through many old trucks like yours and people make fun of me for driving them but my truck works because I fix them the same way you do and their newer vehicles break and they can't fix them and they still have payments. I also drive a 70,000 forklift moving boats at a marina so all your equipment operation fascinates me and I am quite jealous. Since I found this channel, I have been wasting way too much time watching every video in a row and not doing my own work. The wife and I are literally talking about moving upstate to the Hudson Valley area after watching all these videos. Long Island is full, and there's not enough snow!

Andrew i love your videos, but as a crane operator for 8years i have to give few tips for lifting; First of all, telescoping the boom is not a work move, i'm not sure if you did it here, but you did it in last video. Boom up/down to decrease/increase the radius. If it's the only way then do it, but otherwise it's going to stress the sliding pads in the boom. Second thing is that at least here it would be illegal AF to use chains like these to lift anything, let alone spancrete. Here you can only lift them with special scissors made for that stuff. And lifting always need certified lifting equipment Third is that you shouldn't ever go over 60degree angle on (lifting) chains, as it makes them a lot weaker. You should invest few hundred dollars for proper lifting chains, like 6m 10mm chains and you can lift anything that little grove can lift. Also throw a few bucks for proper lifting slings. Fourth thing is that you should never lift spancrete from one end only, as it's slightly bowed for structural strength, lifting it from one end could make it snap right from the middle. I've seen this happen with my own eyes. Construction workers once took the one scissor off and told me to lift, 10metric ton slab (50ft long) snapped in half. i'm not normally a safety nitpicker, but this is something i'm pretty damn good at and i've seen few too many accidents because some shortcuts in lifting business. "You can do damage with a crane, but it's not usually small" is something they taught us in "crane school". But keep up the good work, i love your videos and you're the best.

I thought that too; take the trailer up and come back for the truck. On the climb, the dump truck was *trying* to help; just seemed to be spinning though. That may have been the plan; using *both* vehicles to drag the trailer. There must be some amount of power in that Cat though ~ pretty impressive performance. Levi was allover that unloading of the spancrete. He inspected every part of it and made sure you didn't drop it. He was a little weary of walking on it way up high but he did it, gave it a quick sniff and approved. Lmao! You and Jessy work very well together. You guys did good pulling the ford and spancrete up the hill. It's amazing what you two have accomplished. Just one thing. Where's the safety harness with life lines? It only takes a few seconds to clip and unclip. Im 46 yrs old. I myself like you guys am unstoppable with a passion to create and work. I never thought I'd ever be injured but I just had 4 screws installed in my spine in my neck and I think I'll be needing another 8-10 screws from my upper to my lower spine. I haven't worked or done anything since may 2019. It's unheard of for me. I'm usually changing a driveshaft while changing my wife's oil while cooking a steak dinner or something. My point is shit happens. We aren't invincible. I'll probably be laid up for 18 months. Which is horrifying for a guy like me. Be safe guys. I'll be pissed if you get hurt and stop making videos.

Great entertainment Andrew, without any "fake" drama. What a roar came out of that Cat when you fired it up, I chose the wrong video to use headphones. I nearly $h1t myself when Levi barked too; not often we hear his voice.😀 It's great to watch these old machines doing the work they were built for, rather than scrapping them and replacing them with newer, over-engineered, electronic, plastic equipment. With your mechanical skills, they should last a good while yet. Watching the "extension" taking shape is fascinating. I'm amazed how good the building looks, considering the simple, unusual materials used. The modern-style, concrete/metal structure is such a contrast to all the vintage machinery. Have you ever watched any of Ron Pratt's videos? His channel is called, surprisingly enough, "Ron Pratt" . He does a lot of heavy recovery work with a huge Miller Industries rotator, some great stuff about lifting, swinging, winching etc. ~ well worth a look. Looking forward to the next episode, *SO* much better than the cr@p on T.V. Cheers for now,🍻 Dougie.

Love the drone shots too, gives a nice overview of what's going on. Great work - keep it up!

Here in NJ near me Two houses had been build with the pre formed concrete panels Also a bridge over the raritan river route 35 was construed of pre formed concrete all assembled
@jonathanlanglois27424 жыл бұрын
The thing about pre-stressed concrete is that it quite literally explodes when you demolish a structure made out of it. When you cut the cable with a concrete sheer, all the stress is released at once and concrete goes flying all over the place. Pretty much the only way to safely demolish pre-stressed concrete structure is explosives. It's better to just avoid it in structures which might end up getting modified throughout their lifetime such as homes.

Watching Andrew build his castle is like my 10-year-old self's ultimate fantasy back yard fort build! Kudos! PS I bet that Scott the EC is really happy to see that Burke Bar in constant use. Cheers from Tokyo!

When you said in the last video that the other crane spent a day on it's side and is broken, I was hoping to see how it happened and what got broke. I dawned on me while watching this video that there will likely be a whole video from the accident to the repair devoted to the first crane. The addition is comming along quickly, good job guys!

Levi is so obviously in charge on this job. He isn't even pretending not to be. It's amazing how he carries the whole design and placement of sections in his head. At one point he reminds you that the fourth section still needs to be lifted into place.

Take a second to realise that, not only does Andrew take on huge projects, often alone, but also creates amazingly well produced, shot and edited videos of those projects. All the You Tubers I follow say that filming, editing and uploading videos means they take 3 to 4 times longer to do a particular job. Massive kudos and seasons greetings.

The fear of height is born in all mammals. Levi demonstrate his faith in you to overcome his fear of height. There is no greater friendship than that!

I'm glad Levi was there to advise you on rigging those panels to be lifted. Tricky job, but his expertise never fails.

Andrew, Your construction method on this build is creative and effective. I can't get over how impressive your problem solving is. I think this is your best KZfaq video yet. Can't wait for the next installment. Brilliant!! J

I see this stuff everyday working in the building trades , not really a big deal. Only maybe to someone who can't change a flat tire.

Andrew how did the old crane get damaged? It slid off the road and ended on its side? You and Jesse make a wonderful team both of you are highly skilled, even without formal trades training. Hands on the job training is where you two got your education good work men.
