This is one of the most fun hikes that I've done on the island.

Oh sure, my cousin suggested my husband and I "do" these waterfalls. I am a 60 year old woman!!! Thanks to your amazing video - I think we will pass! Thanks for saving my life...

I did this hike in ~1997 when I was stationed on O'ahu in the Navy. I did it with two friends. All of us were in "lifetime best" fitness, and racing semi-professionally in endurance sport. The only reason I mention all of this: we were POSITIVE we were going to either die or become paralyzed or NOT make it home when we started descending. These fixed ropes were (are?) deteriorated and very sketchy. Even with your own gear it is difficult to place safe anchors.

I read not to follow the red ribbons so we followed the creek bed up for about 3 hours till it rained hard on us and we turned around. Were we on the right track?

great video. Where do you access this hike from? I'm heading to Kailua in June and would love to give this a try.

Tried this today It's Christmas. became a cluster ^uck when I followed a piece of red flagging tape up a 90* ridge that was right across the creek bed after you come off the trail head. The path it put us on was like a goat trail really tough burned like 2 or 3 hours of day light up there ended up missing the falls. PS. Any shoe suggestions i was doing it in trail runners they were a little slippy on the rocks. Also who is that band??

this trail has been closed for some time now.... me and my family almost died on this hike! BIG HUGE ROCKS started to fall at the first water fall! we were so scared we turned around! haha its funny now to laugh about it but at that time it was so scary! it was really a nice experience! very nice hike! although I don't recommend going on this hike just for safety reasons the hauula loop or ridge trail are more preferable :) take my word people lol it was super scary!

Piko Girl, how do you get to the trailhead. I can't find any good directions.

Here I am interested in this hike in 2021, and I am reading about how sketchy the ropes were 7 years ago. Since it's very hard to find much info on this hike on the internet, I doubt it's be re-roped anytime recently. 😔
