Dion wrote one of the most iconic songs in history back in 1968. Its call "Abraham, Martin and John." Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, and John Fitzgerald Kennedy. This song is a must reaction video...I know you will enjoy this very moving and emotional song. Great reaction to a great 60's song I grew up with. Also check out Dion and the Belmont's song the 1961 song "The Wanderer." It was so good they made a movie about it back in 1979.

So many greats by Dion with and without the Belmonts I wonder why 1958 with Belmonts A teenager In Love 1959 with Belmonts Where or When 1959 with Belmonts No one Knows 1958 With Belmonts Runaround Sue 1961 The Wanderer 1961 Lovers Who wander 1962 Love Cane to me 1962 Ruby Baby 1962 Donna the Prima Donna 1963 Drip Drop 1963 Abraham Martin and John 1968 Wonder where I’m bound 1965 Sanctuary 1970 Your own Backyard 1972 ( about his addiction to alcohol and heroin) This was from a movie in 1961 called Twist around the clock. That’s why the people seem dead. The band behind Dion are actors and they are not the people who played on the song Runaround Sue. This was lip synced to the original record. On the original song Dion recruited some of the best band players from the Apollo theater , Panama Francis on drums Buddy Lucas on Sax, and the backing vocals was a group form Manhattan called the Del Satins.

Dion and his wife, Susan, have told a few different background stories of the song over the years, including that he wrote it in a jealous snit after seeing Susan talk to another guy when they were teenagers. But it was about another Sue who wasn't really a runaround either. Teens have a way of exaggerating things, lol. Dion and his Susan have been together since they were teens, they've been married almost 60 years.

Before Ernie Maressca passed quite a few years ago who wrote the song with Dion and was a song-writing friend of Dion also from the Bronx he shared in an interview I heard that, Dion and Sue were rock solid from when they first met in 1957, and 6 years later they married in March 1963, just coming up for 60years marriage.

He started out in 1959 and is the only original old rocker still making brilliant music. Spread the word about this amazing artist.

Deon has been married to Susan Butterfield since since 1963. They started hanging out when Dion was 15 and Sue was 13. The song's namesake wasn't his spouse but a girl named Sue who worked at a Manhattan nightclub and didn't run around at all.

Dion wrote this song with his Bronx NYC childhood friend Ernie Maresca, about Susan a girl he was dating at the time, met in1957 married in1963, they are still married 2022, just celebrated 59 years of marriage. And still actively performing, touring, and recording new music at 82, years age, and voice is still great.

Dion, born in the Bronx as Dion Francis DiMucci. Wow... Italy, the land that produces so many astonishing male vocalists! I think this performance was from a movie and most of the nightclub "audience" members were probably extras. I guess they were directed to just sit there quietly. (A bit weird!) At a real Dion concert, I'm sure the audience would have been mostly screaming girls!

WE LUV ❤ SHAWN & MEL! (& fyi y'all have my DREAM job!😅)::::: It is too often lost about these early historical rock'n'roll acts - and there are few examples any better than our Dion & The Belmonts here - Dion diMuchi was in fact an excellent vocalist. Later, as a solo artist, he recorded the perennial Civil Righta era hit, "Abraham Martin and John."

Next do The Wanderer by Dion. It is the male version of Runaround Sue. Came from the Doo Wop days in 1950's, early 1960's. Dion has a great voice. Audiences were rather stoic back then. It took more exposure to Rock and Roll to loosen people up. A later song worth a listen by Dion is Abraham, Martin and John, a tribute to those brave leaders who died before their time was through. Great reaction as always. Cheers from Canada
