I grew up in this area and my family and I still live here this is the best area in the entire city it is truly a gem and a community within it self I am shocked when I see comments like the one below ... I would have to say you only wish you could afford it.. The houses have beautiful structure , high ceiling and solid brick homes surrounded by beautiful people and neighbors :) actually I see my moms home ( Palmer Woods) in the video great job and thank you for sharing :)

You’re very blessed to call Palmer woods home it’s such a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood! I wish the news would talk about neighborhoods like Palmer woods and not focus so much on the negativity and more on the positivity

I grew up in Palmer Woods on Balmoral in a beautiful home. We moved after the riots started in the late 1960's to the suburbs. What a shame that the surrounding area has eroded so... I miss this area terribly - haven't been back to MI since 1978. I think it is great what folks are doing in sherwood and palmer! Way to go....

Great video and commentary. The neighborhood is beautiful. I love the architecture and tree lined streets. It seems like each house is unique with lots of character.

Moved to this neighborhood in '05 from boston-edison; the contrast is not as bad from street to street as in BE, you have bagley to the west,and a major throughfate to the east and north M1/M102 and Ford park sub to the south,not bad. I lived on Boston Blvd in the early 2000's and although I had a FAR BETTER home in BE i never liked the idea of stepping out of my yard straight into "the hood" but I loved my home so much over there I looked past it.

Very nice homes and neighborhood. Taxes and upkeep (utilities) are higher than giraffe booty. The neighborhood to the east of that across Woodward is quite challenging too. (think Beirut Lebannon all bombed out and burned up)

I grew up in Sherwood Forest and I miss it here! It was great growing up here 18.5 years. Now I live in Grand Rapids and my world has went backwards. My neighbors in Sherwood Forest were the friendliest, open minded people, I lived with. People looked out for one another and everyone here cared and loved their children!

These are all homes I one day want to own, I do meter reading in these areas once a month that's how I know this place, the people are nice, Houses on Boston street are more impressive but literally right next to the hood once you get off that street

I guess you have to grow up there to love that area. I cannot imagine how anyone could live in a neighborhood surrounded by a violent ghetto. I guess I am spoiled because I live in an affluent city bordered by other affluent cities.....and I would have to drive far to visit the hood. I know you all want to defend your neighborhood......but dang....you have to be realistic and look at the location you live in. I do a lot of google map viewing and Detroit is one of the most dilapidated and depressing place I've ever viewed. If this Sherwood Forest/Palmer Woods neighborhood was located elsewhere then I'm sure it would be a lovely place....but there's no way I would ever live in a place when as soon as I cross the boundaries of my neighborhood, I am in the hood.

Q Tran, Detroit doesn't need to be defended...We're in the best location in the country. *_We're where the fresh water is--and it doesn't get much better than that_*. You didn't say where you live...California? Is there anything there that hasn't burned yet?
@Samanosuke817
@Samanosuke817 9 жыл бұрын
California? Hell no! I live in north Texas. You can have your fresh water and freeze to death during winters. Detroit is still a very ghetto place in my book.

Q Tran -- North Texas--oh yeah, earthquakes, dust and drought--no wonder I confused it with California! "You can have your fresh water?" Yes, we can--thank you very much!! With 3,000 miles of coastline up here...we like it very much...
