That's a great fish, it pays to have the right equipment, I always have my gaff assembled and ready to go. Whilst watching your video I was eating my tea, fresh school prawns that I caught last night from a lake 20 minutes away, and some Spanish mackerel I caught up the top of Australia that I had in the freezer, it was super delicious both of them. Halibut is on my bucket list, I think I'll visit Alaska one day.

In British Columbia we use fish like that for bait. Kidding. 😅 Very nice fish. About the perfect eating size. I was going to guess it weighed in around 40 lbs. The biggest halibut I ever caught was 101 pounds off of Vancouver Island, followed by a 77-pounder about 10 minutes after netting the first one. I returned to that same site a few times but never again had so much as a bite. KZfaq keeps recommending your videos and I think they're pretty good so I guess it's time to subscribe. Cheers.

@@Billyfishing_watch It's crazy catching halibut from the shore or dock. I'm not sure I've ever even heard of anyone doing that here. We catch "fluke" winter flounder and a 10 pound fish is a trophy here on the East Coast of New England here in the "colonies" U.S. but we call the big one's "door mats" for obvious reasons. But I wish we had halibut to catch absolutely a beautiful fish you caught nice job thank you for sharing.
@Billyfishing_watch6 ай бұрын
Hi bud. As far as I understand, the Flounder you catch is a type of halibut. So you're halfway there. They do catch them further north in Canada, Labrador on Nova Scotia is a good place to start. Thanks Brother 😁👌
@user-io4ui9dr5q6 ай бұрын
@@Billyfishing_watch your exactly correct sir, the only real difference between them is you wouldn't want a fluke as big as a halibut because they have teeth! Razor sharp teeth that can do some serious cutting, take it from me I know first hand and well my second hand as well..I don't seem to learn my lessons and not only that but they also can bite down extremely hard often cutting plastic baits in half. I guess you could call them the Chihuahua of the flounder family because they definitely have a bad attitude for their size...lol...keep on casting you know your gonna gettum with just one more cast!
