I'm sorry. This man is talking BS. People in Latin America hate the term Latinx. We see it as something that originared in the US and has nothing to do with us. Colbert did a segment a few months ago for Hispanic Heritage month and the comment section was filled with messages from latins saying we don't EVER use that term nor like it.

@@vrmomoffour9446 I’m guessing you probably don’t speak Spanish? Or you would know that it is a gendered language. And Latinx is a made up word that activists are trying to force people to use. Isn't LatinX a Eurocentric word, including the word Latin? Or, does it refer to the Latin family of languages, which is also Eurocentric? I thought the historical hold of ex Spanish/Portuguese dynasties was still a problem in the Americas. Why name disparate peoples of a continent and a half after a relatively few rich families? More sense to me would be naming your people after your present nationality or your historical ethnicity/tribal association.

@bluesparrow-e8b
@bluesparrow-e8b 2 жыл бұрын
Latinx does not exist in Spanish, the x has a specific sound and it is not used at the end of any word. There is the word Latino and Latina. Latín was Rome's language from which Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and Romanian derives. Aside from that in English you can use Latin as a neutral word to refer to the language itself but also to both sexes of people that come from any of the above mentioned countries and Latin America. Also Hispanic is not a race, it's a person that speaks Spanish. A Brazilian, for example, would not be Hispanic. And both in Latin America and in Latin Europe there is people of all colors, everyone does not have brown hair and dark skin, there are blondes, red heads, black people, people with asian descent all of which have been born here and are Hispanic/Latinos too. Also most Latinos do not call themselves that. It's actually the US the one that uses that word to separate themselves from those who, to their eyes, are not white and therefore should be considered second class citizens. But guess what, we are also white, black and any color in between. Something most people forget too is that Spain (and virtually every European, Asian and African country) was also colonized and invaded by arabs, jews, celts, vikings, romans, greeks, persians, french, english, germans, thus why there is people of all colors and why all of our languages are intertwined. And the US was also invaded by the British, you speak English because of them. You are white with blonde hair and blue or green eyes because there were also German, Dutch, Nordic people that colonized your country, killed the natives (that most likely came before that from Asia because Polynesians and Native Americans have always had clear Asian facial features) and settled in places like New York or Utah. They are the ones who created the reservations where the few natives that were left alive still live in 2022. Mennonites come from the Netherlands for example, mormons appeared after they stop liking British christianity/protestantism because among other things they were not polygamous, and Thanksgiving is an invention made by your first European ancestors, aka as "pioneers". Same goes with Halloween, which was a Celtic pagan celebration or Santa Claus that comes mostly from the nordics. Canada and part of the US also had French settlers, hence why some people still speak French and eat things like poutine. You never talk about them though, it is easier to hate on those that speak Spanish and put the blame of everything that happens in the world on us. You are the biggest racists of all but will never admit it. Instead of telling others what to be, live your life, be respectful and stop complaining about stuff from 500 years ago, when there are way bigger problems happening right now in the world. And remember, there is a good chance you also descend from a Nazi german, or Napoleon the french emperor, or Stalin the Russian dictator, or Genghis Khan the mongol warrior and conqueror that at one point owned most of Asia and half of Europe too.

We are all fellow humans and we are all the same colour under the skin. “Always treat others as you would like them to treat you.” And “Love your neighbour as yourself.” That is the Law and the Prophets. Never worship and pray in the way of religions (not even in the way of Catholics nor Christianity) because religions are all led by the many blind guides and false prophets of whom Jesus had already warned us to beware of, almost 2,000 years ago. They all make up their own laws and prayers. When he alone (in the name of Immanuel) is the Son of Man and the true Prophet sent by God, to be always our one Teacher and to set us free from all religions… These are the words of the Lord God: “I will raise up for them a prophet like you [Moses] from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth.” - (at Deuteronomy 18: 18) - “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: A young woman is with child, and she will bear a son, and will call him Immanuel.” [“God is with us”] - (The Prophet Isaiah 7: 14) - “If you have ears to hear, then hear.” - (Jesus in the name of Immanuel the Messiah, at Mark 4: 23) - “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” - (at John 4: 24) - “In truth I tell you, anyone who gives heed to what I say and puts his trust in him who sent me, has hold of eternal life and does not come up for judgement, but has already passed from death to life.” - (John 5: 24) - “You shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” - (John 8: 32) - “When you pray, go into a room by yourself, and shut the door. Pray to your Father who is there in the secret place; and your Father who sees what is secret will reward you. In your prayers do not go babbling on like the heathen, who imagine that the more they say the more likely they are to be heard. Do not imitate them. Your Father knows what your needs are before you ask him. This is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as in heaven, Give us today our daily bread, Forgive us the wrong we have done, as we have forgiven those who have wronged us. And do not bring us to the test, but save us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if you forgive others the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, then the wrongs you have done will not be forgiven by your Father.” - (Matthew 6: 6-15) - “Pass no judgement, and you will not be judged. For as you judge others, so you will yourselves be judged, and whatever measure you deal out to others will be dealt back to you.” - (Matthew 7: 1-2) - “Truly I tell you; if anyone obeys my teaching he shall never know what it is to die.” - (John 8: 51) - “Always treat others as you would like them to treat you: that is the Law and the Prophets. Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7: 12-14) - “I am the gate; anyone who comes into the fold through me shall be safe. He shall go in and out and shall find pasturage. The thief comes only to steal, to kill, to destroy; I have come that men may have life, and may have it in all its fullness.” - (John 10: 9-10) - “Beware of false prophets, men who come to you dressed up as sheep while underneath they are savage wolves. You will recognize them by the fruits they bear.” - (Matthew 7: 15-16) - ‘Why do you keep calling me “Lord, Lord,”-and never do what I tell you?’ - (Luke 6: 46) - “I am the resurrection and I am life. If a man has faith in me, even though he dies, he shall come to life; and anyone who is alive and has faith shall never die.” - (John 11: 25-26) - “I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world” - (John 12: 47) - “Whoever will acknowledge me before men, I will acknowledge him before my Father in heaven; and whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.” - (Matthew 10: 32-34) - “I am the way; I am the truth and I am life; no one comes to the Father except by me. If you knew me you would know my Father too.” - (John 14: 6-7) - “Any plant that is not of my heavenly Father’s planting will be rooted up. Leave them alone; they are blind guides, and if one blind man guides another they will both fall into the ditch.” - (Matthew 15: 13-14) - “The disciples came to Jesus and asked, ‘Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven?’ He called a child, set him in front of them, and said, ‘I tell you this: unless you turn round and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven. Let a man humble himself till he is like this child, and he will be the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me. But if a man is a cause of stumbling to one of these little ones who have faith in me, it would be better for him to have a millstone hung round his neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea. Alas for the world that such causes of stumbling arise! Come they must, but woe betide the man through who they come!’” - (Matthew 18: 1-7) - “Though many are called, few are chosen.” - (Matthew 22: 14) - “An expert in the law, [a leading religious Pharisee] tested him with this question: ‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?’ He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind. That is the greatest commandment. It comes first. The second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself. Everything in the Law and the Prophets hangs on these two commandments.’” - (Matthew 22: 35-40) - “There is no greater love than this, that a man should lay down his life for his friends.” - (John 15: 13) - “Do not call any man on earth ‘father’; for you have one Father and he is in heaven. Nor must you be called ‘teacher’; you have one Teacher, the Messiah.” - (Matthew 23: 9-10) - “Take care that no one misleads you: For many will come claiming my name…” - (Matthew 24: 4) - “Many false prophets will arise, and will mislead many; and as lawlessness spreads, men’s love for one another will grow cold. But the man who holds out to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the Kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the earth as a testimony to all nations; and then the end will come.” - (Matthew 24: 11-14) - "Stay awake, and pray that you may be spared the test: The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." - (Matthew 26: 41) - “However, when he comes who is the Spirit of truth; he will guide you into all the truth.” - (John 16: 13) - Yours always, in true Spirit and in our one given prayer, 2gointruth, on Saturday the 15th of January 2022: - (Matthew 5: 14-16) - Where every minute (of both day and night) can be a new beginning for any one of us. Let it always be you. Pray to God often, in the way prescribed above, before it is too late.

@@greatlife1047 I somewhat agree with your reasoning. I don't think it's a bad thing, but I don't think it's helpful to the Latin community. It seems like he wants to segregate the Latin People and heritage. His reasoning, you're LatinX if you qualify. IE, Amigos = Amigs. So if someone says Amigs, they're LatinX, but if they don't, they're Latino. Just causing more divisiveness from within. Sad.

Because that doesn’t have a masc or fem suffix. Some languages, for example Romantic languages like Spanish, often have gendered terms for items (la silla, el perro, el hombre, la mujer, etc.) these also stand with adjectives, describing nouns, o for masc, a for fem (Símpatico, astuta, etc) So the issue stands with non-binary/gender nonconforming people who don’t fit with either masc or fem- latinx though has a problem as it doesn’t work with Spanish pronunciation. Thus, latine works.

You obviously didn't read his first post. He actually claims that Africans built the ancient cities of the Mayan, Aztec and Inca. Which is not true, the African slaves were brought over well after Spain and Portugal killed the indigenous people of those ancient cities. I have read many such claims and they are false. I do not agree with his assessment. I personally have never heard anyone call someone from Haiti Latin. My response to this post of his is also based on his previous post. You can agree all you like, I don't need to read it again to see what he is saying and I do no agree with him.

@@paulpetock2836 Haiti is in the Caribbean and I have never heard anyone call them Latin. Nor have I heard South and Central America called Latin. I personally have only heard of South and Central America as Meso America. Of course a Mexican in Mexico is going to call themselves Mexican. I am an American with a Mexican heritage and proud of it. This fuss about the terminology "Latin" is ridiculous. When people use the term "Latino" they are referring to the origination of the Spanish language as well as French language and Portuguese. If you lived up North you would see there is unity and no one likes Latinx.

So I'm thinking that this good Doctor has a new fan in me cecause he's pretty cute, but I still want to add my two cents to the conversation. People like myself have always tried to be uber-respectful by trying to make sure that I use the proper labels for various groups (LGB/LGBT/LBTBQ/LGBTQIA/LGBTIQ/LGBTIQA, Latino/Hispanic/Chicano/LatinX, Colored/Negro/African-American/Afro-American/Afro/Black/African-American/Black/People-of-Color/Black/African-American). As you might understand by now, people like me are pretty well tired of the hoop-jumping we have to do, not only to be respectful, but to not have someone use any perceived mistakes on my part to disparage me for not knowing the word of the day. So my bottom line is that until people begin to refer to me as that Norwegian/Scots/Irish/English/Texan instead of that old white b!tch, I am begging you guys to choose a lane, then stick with it for awhile. Allow the rest of us to catch up, then teach us your preference and be kind when you correct us.
