He was a quality player too, if injuries didn't ruin him and force him to retire at 26 then he really could have been a top top player. He injured his ankle whilst on England duty at 23 years old and gave up the fight 3 years later unfortunately. Was being touted for a move to a big club at the time so his career was very much about to take off.

He complained about "casual relaxed attitude in training" saying the mentality, intensity and focus at Arsenal was far higher! Southgate took it as a criticism of his methods! The young players won't challenge Southgates methods! White said it was like a holiday camp!! Probably why they lost to France, Southgate to pleasing, Kane and Maguire were not fit, but Southgate has no balls for big decisions that Winners make!! 🤨

I know I don’t even understand why this is in discussion. He’s not a politician, he doesn’t receive any tax power money and therefore is not obliged, just like everyone else, to discuss his matters publicly. If Gareth and Mikel are okay with it then I’m sure it’s not a big deal. Journalists are just digging at this in the hope that there’s a story here. ‘Ben White turns his back on England in midst of World Cup ’ being the headline they’re grasping for. It’s private and should remain so unless Ben decides otherwise. Simple. Are we that lost as a society to truly suggest otherwise?

A footballer today asking for their privacy to be respected is hilarious. They spend their whole lives promoting themselves on social media, doing interview, KZfaq videos, Instagram posts, Twitter posts, sharing every opinion they have and every detail of their lives, every political opinion as well of course. Everything except how much tax they pay and who they vote for is made public. And then they ask for "privacy" when the public is curious about something actually football-related. Lol.

You explained why , he would never get in over those players who are established internationally and he has blown his chance for good anyway . Ben white isn't good at centre back and isn't good at right back , what is his actual position instead of being a jack of all trades , he is a clown and let the country down , he can't just turn up and expect to start given the fact he isn't world class and was always a rotation player at Leeds.

That's not how it works when you're picked for your country. Look at Kolo Muani for the French team, he could've said the same thing but ended up playing a big part in the last game, scoring with his first touch. That's the dumbest excuse I've heard for a player who is arrogant enough to walk out on his country because he's not guaranteed to play. Why not impress the manager by staying, putting in performances in training and forcing your way into his plans? I couldn't care less what happened at the WC with my country. Ben imo is far from the usual conveyor belt of young talented sycophant players. If he's talented, profesional and trusted enough for Arteta to blow 50m on a must pick positional player and one of the first on the team sheet still, there should be no doubts of the players conduct during internationals.

Makes no difference anyway, was never starting centre half, was never starting right back. Cycle for alot of those players is coming to an end so will probably go 24, but depends on how early southgate starts to move out players

a pint with white & vardy might reveal some things about the camp :) ofc we'd like to know bcos we were a bit poor throughout the tounrnament. the sterling thing was strange aswel. The armbands & political nonsense before we left was also nothing to do with football & when minds needed to be focused properly i felt that was a sideshow. Hard to say if its bad management or pressure from the FA & Gov & media. We all saw there was something missing from the sqaud.

Not too sure why this is even a topic of discussion. Like any one of us, Ben too has every right to keep the reason(s) for his WC exit private. Irrespective of the "it's in the national interests" thing, clearly Ben feels that he does not (at this time) wish to discuss it. I'm sure we have all had a moment where we felt more comfortable keeping something quiet, regardless of the issue and if he felt comfortable to discuss it, he would have done. Respect his privacy, as you would want yours respected.

You know, in order to stay true to who you are and achieve your goals; just do what you are passionate about even if popular opinions don’t agree with you. Few months again, there were rumors at Man U about Ronaldo wanting to leave and not showing up for preseason. Many in the media, including former teammates, said Ronaldo needs to say something. Few months later, he says something from the bottom of his heart and gets crucified by the media for speaking out. Let Ben White do what he thinks best for him in this case and not what is “appropriate” to do.

Well said! Imagine you going home from work knowing you know and your boss knows why but when you come in the next day everyone is saying you should tell everyone why you went. Absolutely not, it’s obviously a private matter and should remain so. This discussion is madness in my opinion. James Maddison went to the World Cup with this England squad without kicking a ball even for the fact we all know he is a better player than Mason Mount, he was humble enough to stay calm on the bench, that was something White could not take, White knew very well that he was physically in good form and mentally in good shape ahead of the unfit Walker but Walker was chosen to play and start games ahead of him, so he left the bias coach and came back home, Simple. White would have been very useful in that England team especially when they came up against Oliver Giroud who has a great strength advantage in the air with his head.

Ben White has been open previously that he's not from a football family and doesn't really like football or watch it in his spare time. He would have suffered from the wall 2 wall football that is the world cup and the expectation that he was to geek out over his own game. That's not who Ben is and the one size fits all approach of England would have grated. I expect he will win the EPL this year and not get called up again. England want players obsessed with their own mediocrity rather than effortless winners.

It's a positive for Benjamin White. He has been used the same as James Maddison in the expanded squad from 23 to 26. The 2 of them were selected through merit (as well as stopping media hounding). Once Maguire rediscovered his excellent form as a RCB, Trippier performed well as a RB and Walker became fit again for both those positions, maybe there was no need for him to stay. He was never in the FA youth team club and possibly couldn't wait for the 1 hour flight to get back with Arteta, his staff and the rest of the group No one mentioned Partey and Xhaka travelled earlier and separately from their national teams to Dubai. The other unusable players in the manager's eyes were thinking it's their only opportunity due to fitness (Wilson), Nicest man in football (Coady) and Maddison who is on for a move. White has 4 years left and has quickly become one of the most intelligent and adaptable defenders 25 or under in the Prem. Guy didn't even play football until his mid- late teens, he'll be called on again for an effective role. Probably in 18 months at RB/RCB at the Euros tbh.

It could be something personally and as simply as friend or family member has gone missing or become sick and he was not in the right frame of mind.. something that can be resolved quickly and it seems like it was as he came back for the Arsenal... On the flipside Raheem went home to deal with a personal matter then came back; half the comments was digging at him for doing so... personally if I was in that same situ; I would have gone home straight away to make sure that my family was ok... would I go back to the WC... who knows...
