Episode 19 of SHOW & TELL, is finally here and get ready to be absolutely flabbergasted by this thrilling expose of the secret history of photographic elbows. That's right. Elbows. I will say no more, apart from once you have watched this episode you may never look at an elbow or a photograph in the same way again. Warning: Contains naked elbows and some naked people. If you are easily offended by exposed flesh, eczema and 90-year-old images of nude women distorted by fairground mirrors maybe don't watch.
Please subscribe to the channel and Stephen will continue doing these films as he seeks to focus on photography content and not just which new or old camera to buy. And remember, there's still a 'No BOKEH TALK' promise. No bokeh talk. Ever.
For more of Stephen's photography please visit his website: www.stephenleslie.co.uk/ or his Instagram: / step_hen_le. . He's also on Threads but he hasn't really got the time to do all that crap too, he just signed up to annoy Elon Musk.
Also feel free to contact Stephen if you'd like to buy zines, prints or sign up for his monthly street photography workshops in London.

Not even Sir David Attenborough could do elbows justice in the way you have, Stephen!

I love this video! Of course the photographs are amazing, but, what I love is your capacity for making sense of the abstract! Thank you Stephen. And no, dogs do not have elbows. I asked a few dogs and they all said no… knees!

Yesterday I just concluded a three evening binge viewing of every one of your videos. Obviously, I enjoyed them immensely. This I evening a took a KZfaq break and I’ve thumbing through Walker Evans America. When I came to plate 82 ‘Floyd Evans and the Tingle Family Children, Hale County, Alabama 1936’ I had to stop and thank for my renewed appreciation of the photographed elbow.

I’m not sure that I could recommend watching all of them so close together. You might need to decompress somehow? But thank you for your dedication and yes, once you start seeing them, elbows are everywhere!

Love this, Stephen. I don’t know if you’re a cyclist, but there’s a universally accepted “flick of the elbow” signal to following cyclists to come around and take the front. A flick of the elbow means “I’m done, take over.” Sometimes one’s companions will ignore the elbow flick, which can lead to grumpiness and discord. And the flick can be subtle or exaggerated, depending on context. Of course, elbows also figure prominently in sprinting to the line, as riders make themselves as wide as possible to avoid being passed or try to move another rider out of the way with an unsubtle shove of the elbow. The cyclist’s elbow could be an entire sub-chapter.

I knew absolutely nothing about this so thanks for that. I’m not sure I’m up to photographing cyclists elbows though, sounds like specialised equipment might be required! Thanks for watching, please tell all your cyclist friends!

I am glad I stuck until the end and got to hear the valuable lesson you share with us. Lately, I've discovered in my own photographic journey that this sort of "insanity" is what leads to the best work, though it requires a lot of patience and determination, as you mentioned. Thanks for sharing such good quality elbow shots.
