Thank you Ginger. Spot on. After living with T1 for nearing 40 years, I've been through it all. I would just add that health care providers often don't help, when they are critical or shaming or try to motivate behavior change by inducing fear.

Yeah, it's frustrating when doctors think they're helping but they're just compounding the stress and pressure! Congrats on 40 years!

Thank you so very much. As a CDCES with type 1 for way too long, this is what I tell my patients everyday but forget to tell myself. Thank you

Hi, great vid, you’ve just hit the nail on the head. But onward and upward. Just started following you and the great work your doing with the Diabetes community. Could you offer any advice on how I could go about getting Afrezza in the Uk? Any suggestions on who to call would be greatly appreciated as I believe you’ve said , this could be a game changing Insulin protocol for me. Keep up the good work.

Hi there, Jason! Afrezza isn't available in the UK yet. Frustrating, I know! Mannkind is working to get it approved in other countries but it is a slow process. If you visit their website, look at the "pipeline" page and you'll see where they are focused. Thank you for watching and for your feedback!

@@DiabetesNerdthanks for your reply. Yeah I’d already looked at this and know it’s not available on prescription. Through another video of yours I understood that if in the USA you are not covered by insurance there was another scheme that cost $99. I think I would have to go down the self pay route but wondered if you could shine any further light on who I should contact state side to get the ball rolling? I’m aware that a fellow type 1 in the UK managed to get this on prescription. I’ve reached out to him on several media platforms (Brendan Hyland) but have heard no response. Thanks again.

Yes, but they definitely couldn't ship it overseas on that patient assistance program! It would just be too expensive and not legal if it's not approved in the UK. I'm sorry! @@JustCraigS

The part of diabetes that is driving me crazy right now is the hard little cysts that I sometimes get where my Dexcom or insulin patches were placed. One of the cysts got so bad that I had to have it surgically removed! $$$ I haven't heard anyone talk about this risk. Do you have any tips for preventing or treating injection site cysts?

YES! Look up Lavior Pharma's diabetic wound healing lotion! Anti-fungal, antiinflammatory. it's so good. I use it on all CGM sites and I use the moisturizer every day on my arms. YOu can find it on Amazon or Walmart.

Could you please talk to us about pancreas implants? Could this be a viable solution for the next 5 years or so until the more promising treatment options from Sernova or Vertex come out?
@DiabetesNerd
@DiabetesNerd 3 ай бұрын
No, unfortunately, pancreas transplants are a last resort and are usually only done in co-transplants with kidneys. A pancreas transplant requires lifelong immunosuppression therapy which isn't a worthwhile trade-off unless you are struggling to stay alive with diabetes.
