Today we start a build on a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado that was t boned by another vehicle. Before we can start on the build itself, we need to get the parts ready to go for maximum efficiency! Lots to throw in the pile this week! #silverado #collisionrepair #boringbuildfriday

@vehcor
@vehcor 4 жыл бұрын
Scott A yes, and the brands get interchanged in the saying. Everything rusts up here! Except the aluminum Fords, they corrode and the paint flakes off. lol Ford probably learned the paint flaking from the 90s GMs, it just took them a while to catch up. At the end of the day, just drive what you want and laugh at the jokes, there is always a small amount of truth behind them! 😂
@vehcor
@vehcor 4 жыл бұрын
Endall I work on Fords all the time. I don't mind them, they keep me busy. I am a mechanic after all. Lol They are no more complex, just not as efficiently constructed for repair but believe me there are far worse brands (anything from Europe). Maybe I will find a Ford to build so the GM guys can make fun of me. My biggest problem is rebuilds take time for paperwork and parts and Ford prices drop fast. You can get stuck with them unless you pick the right models. I used to do a lot of Escapes, Escorts and Explorers.

Helpful advice.. 5.3 were notorious for having clogged oil pressure sensors. When you remove that other cab would be the time to change it for good measure. I have used a spark plug wire tool to get that dreaded clip for the e brake.. but that wrench trick is great. Thanks for another hard working build.. waiting in suspense for next week.

You seem to specialise in side-damaged vehicles. Having watched other channels that do mainly front-damaged vehicles, I can see why you like the side damage. Generally easier to repair. Cab swaps make it even easier. I've lost count of the number of cab swaps you've done over time.

@bigpjohnson
@bigpjohnson 4 жыл бұрын
Cab and frame swaps take a good deal of extra labor, plus you need lots of space to hold and move all the parts around. On the plus side, there's a lot less frame and welding work when you can just swap in a good part. Front end hits dont require much room or swapping huge parts, so they can be done faster.
