Here's my review of the Silky Saws Katanaboy 500-the thing I use when I need to ride or hike out and remove chainsaw-work-sized-un-awpable logs from the trails. My favorite lawg sawing channel: / @buckinbillyraysmith

Taking out that log on Powell’s was super impressive! I can’t believe those people were walking under it while you were cutting though.

That one was a little bit much! Yeah, it was mostly safe but not something I would've done. The funniest part was the 2 out of 50 people who complained about me removing it.

On the typical western saws the individual teeth are slightly bent outward to prevent blade binding. The tooth bend is called the "set". Silky uses different technology. The blade is thickest at the teeth and thinner at the spine, thus preventing blade binding and friction.

I totally subscribed just due to your cool attitude man. I used to bike but am disabled now. But TY for keeping trails open! Bless you!

I would never work with that saw unless I had a set of good gloves on. Especially in the back country!

That weapon is totally medieval! I have the Silky 24" hand saw, I'm a believer in pedal power

i am a big fan of katana boy silky. i ve got three diffrent size, i never cut with chainsaw. always problems with chains, it cost money, it is horribly noisy in the forest, and hand sawing is an out door sport. a lot of fun with these japanese saws. you need three size at least300 500 650 plus axes of diffrent type. enjoy!!!

I don't meet other people out in the bush where I go it's really remote wilderness but the thought has crossed my mind as to how effective the Silky BigBoy would be as a close quarters , last ditch defensive weapon in event of an animal attack .

the trick is to stretch your arms and let the weight of your body do the pulling, not your arms, with steady but slow pace, just to listen to the sound of the saw working its way through wood.

Always have to read the tree and where the weight, height, and direction of it is going to work to you're advantage...I have the ultra accel and it's only a 240mm but i can cut 7in diameter pretty comfortably

great review you've sold me on one for clearing some trails. For a place like cutler park I would just bring an electric chainsaw in since it's so close to the road

This one is more durable compared to the larger version it seems not to wobble the blade.

What do you think about the silky gomboy,or big boy outback edition, both blades are coated an are packable also an are cheaper than the other ones.

Silky should totally add some kind of red & green LED indicator to that release/lock bolt mechanism. Just when you think it's out enough, it's not.

When it comes to cutlery and optics, Japan is one of the best in the two businesses. Too bad laws prevent one putting a guillotine on the other side of that log so as soon as those people ducked and went beneath it, the worst part of them could be removed lol.

Not a bad blade, but a decent crosscut saw would've done those larger trees in much less time.
