In this project video we cover how to sew together a simple plate carrier that can handle 10"x12" sapi plates that are up to 1.5" in thick. Improvements will be made in future builds, however this functions great for a first try! Now moving forward we have a great reference for how plates look and feel in carriers. Huge thanks to my wife for giving it a go, hopefully this helps others trying to make plate carriers. join my discord: / discord

outstanding work/research once again sir. and you can customize these carriers for small children and adults of course. could be done for animals as well just base it off of a sweater (dog)or blanket (horse). not sure why i just thought of that cause we aint got either one. but there ya go. thanks again my man.

Helpful advice for your wife with the velcro. Use self adhesive backed velcro. It stays right where you want it and adds more to securing it to the fabric

I really need to learn how to sew. The extent of my skill is limited to sewing buttons back onto my pants by hand. Every time I've tried using a sewing machine, it turns out horribly. A plate carrier looks like a fun sewing project though.

Late reply but sewing can be hard to learn but super rewarding once you get it. My grandmother showed me how when I was a little kid and I still kinda know what I’m doing

Just start by fixing old clothes. That way you have free material to practice on. I had a jumper that had a hole in it. I trimmed some extra fabric off the inside and used it to close the hole.

I like the style they do were instead of adding a nylon web they Lazer cut slots into the fabric. That way everything on the front is cleaner. I don't think it would actually be lighter though I'm pretty sure that front piece of fabric would have to be heavier to hold everything.

I have been doing a lot of materials shopping in Canada this past week. It took some very precise wording to find a Canadian source of plastics and etc [TAP cant ship epoxies or solvents across the border]. Can I send you a sample of my composite this summer? I have theories I want someone else to test. Again, Canadian. So while I have access to firearms, I dont have access to the fancy ammo.

I don't always have access to the exact calibers and rounds used, mainly the .308. But I try, hopefully I'll be able to get one here soon. The mosin is close in power to that, so I gotta make do til then. But I get what you mean, for the pistol rated stuff it's a lot easier thankfully. I also have a chronograph now! So I can give more accurate data moving forward, thanks for the suggestion brother.

China obviously. They are often sold as airsoft stuff or whatever. They are just straight no frills stuff made of polyester or such which will often fall apart if you get them beat up but you get what you pay for. Hell I have seen "plate carriers" for as low as 10$

Outstanding video, however I can't say so much for the audio I mean I told him to broadcast in here for 30 years. And people always neglect the audio quality. You're Audio Level when it switches to the lady sewing the material together, is almost unintelligible. I'm sure in a pair of earbuds or headphones she can be understood with the volume increase. However just listening to it on a regular cell phone your audio versus the lady sewing is 150% different in its level now the meter is that you use on your editing software may have told you that the level was close to the same however the density of the audio and the frequency Equalization is not. Her voice needs to be compressed, so that it has a higher density and then the overall level increased. So that her softer spoken words are more intelligible. But on the armor design very innovative, and I do find your videos interesting. Like I said I just wish people would take more attention to the audio in their videos like maybe reducing the sound of the gunshots by 50% versus the dialogue. We're not shooting a THX movie where we need to have the full impact of The Gunshot come out of her cell phone. In fact to me it's slightly annoying when I'm trying to watch a video and the gunshots come out 10 times louder than the voice. I do realize the gunshots are louder in reality. But in recorded and ended video there's no reason for them to be. They can easily be reduced in level there by making a much easier to watch video it becomes tedious having to turn a level up and down constantly trying to understand what's being said versus blasting my ears with gunshots. This is just my observation, but congratulations on some very successful Builds.
