Walking is underrated! Its my go to method to burn extra calories when cutting. And I'd much rather walk outdoors, even during winter, than to be stuck on a boring treadmill.

I work out 6-7 days a week, AT NIGHT. I dont want to mess up any part of my day with low energy. And pre-workout late doesn't affect my sleep; amazingly enough. So I go to the gym after dinner, come home shower, and since i just workedout im not going to binge sugary stuff and go to bed. Its worked wonders for me. I'm a night owl, I cant do mornings for much.

After fasting for 2 days the insulin levels crash & you won't feel hungry at all. Water-fasting is the best to lose fat but do take multivitamin-minerals & sea salt. A protein shake will break the fast, period.

I’m doing intermittent fasting (16/8) for years now. My first foot intake is very often spinach and either chicken or chick peas... Lots of running and walking. Plus calisthenics. I’m turning 58 in March, I’m 1.90 m tall and I weigh 83kg. I’ll try the protein shot in the morning... Sounds like a great idea... Thanks for that video.
@JoeyIndolos
@JoeyIndolos 3 жыл бұрын
Greetings from a fellow middle-age man (turning 58 in December). You posted this 6 months ago, so I’m not sure if you went ahead and tried the protein shot thing. But if you’ve been doing 16/8 successfully for years already, I wouldn’t recommend it. Protein also spikes insulin, because muscles need to absorb it as much as glucose, so it definitely breaks a traditional fast. And unless you’re lifting weights as much as Mark Bell obviously does, you probably won’t need it anyway.

Fasting and working out on a empty stomach has greatly helped me achieve a great body. The energy that I have based on hormones being released is incredible. Once I am done working out I spike my insulin and bam it’s magical and natural. Every where I go I get complements on how good I look . I am constantly being accused of being on gear. It’s hard at first but give it a try .

I don’t see how heating up protein can ruin it.. I mean most people eat meat that contains protein and meet it cooked at over 160 degrees.. loads of people bake pies, cookies, cakes and brownies with protein powders inside, I looked around and searched and there’s studies that show heating up protein powder which is almost powdered milk isn’t bad for it

“Although high-protein diets continue to be popular for weight loss and type 2 diabetes, evidence suggests that worsening renal function may occur in individuals with-and perhaps without-impaired kidney function. High dietary protein intake can cause intraglomerular hypertension, which may result in kidney hyperfiltration, glomerular injury, and proteinuria. It is possible that long-term high protein intake may lead to de novo CKD. The quality of dietary protein may also play a role in kidney health. Compared with protein from plant sources, animal protein has been associated with an increased risk of ESKD in several observational studies, including the Singapore Chinese Health Study. Potential mediators of kidney damage from animal protein include dietary acid load, phosphate content, gut microbiome dysbiosis, and resultant inflammation. In light of such findings, adopting current dietary approaches that include a high proportion of protein for weight reduction or glycemic control should be considered with care in those at high risk for kidney disease. “

There's so much conflicting information regarding dieting/food intake- I get overwhelmed trying to figure out what is correct or most effective. For example, some resources promote fasting, while others say I need to eat more more more! I CrossFit 5 days a week and use Trifecta, but I continue to struggle with weight. I'm currently counting macros and almost always come up significantly short on my caloric intake and protein goals. Which is better- fasting, or striving to meet those lofty macro goals??

Personally I/F fasting and high protein has worked best for me. And doing +160oz green tea daily. I walk roughly 5m daily (2.5 morning/night) and do a Orange Theory class 4 days a week. Of course your total calorie intake must be considered as well. Under 2000cal and you'll be fine almost no matter what your regiment is. 💪🏾

Think about that from an evolutionary standpoint...how would you of survived a day without food back when food was scarce? an ice age even...Your body aint dumb, it will use fat first and excess skin/weak cells if it needs protein before muscle. If you're scared, try it and see for yourself.

I'm with Destin on this one, when I fast, I lose half muscle or all muscle, I've got the body composite scales. Someone did explain it to me, something about when you fast your body wants glycogen, which is in your muscles. It's a pity as I actually find all types of fasting easy, so it would be a really useful tool if it worked on my metabolism.

It's tricky finding the balance, I'm either in a calorie maintenance or surplus in my 8 hour window when I stay the same or get fatter, or I'm in deficit and lose muscle

@@markedmonds8694 Losing glycogen isnt losing muscle lol....glycogen just makes your muscles look fuller and have a source of energy for burst strength. Try fasting and lifting heavy weights for low reps on your fast, you will develop a denser quality of muscle in my opinion. You could also try carb cycling for those intense days.

When you say calories ....do you mean carbohydrates. As intermittent fasting puts you, (or will help you) get in a state of ketosis (fat burning instead of glucose burning)...and eating carbs would be counter-productive to fasting, surely. Naturally occuring carbs contained in all foods are unavoidabe, it's the excess hidden carbs, bread and suger etc...that's causing the fat to be stored. Unless, of course, you are suggesting a low calorie diet....and then you'll have to watch everthing you eat. Very low carb is the way to burn fat.....up the fat and protein intake...oh...watch you kidney health with high protein.

Why torture yourself with fasting? Just eat smart and avoid the bad foods. Make sure calories in are slightly lower than your calories out and get 1g protein per lb. I hate this beginning advice. Why feel miserable for 14 hrs....plus, protein synthesis 5 times a day is optimal.
