People don't realize how much food is dragging them down. I did a 6 day water fast and I felt fantastic.. I lost 22 lbs that week.. and it shrank my stomach so much that I would feel full with just a small meal.. like no larger than my fist. That's all I was eating each day after the fast... and I went on to lose over 90 lbs in just over 2 months (getting me down to 193). I can't express enough how awesome fasting is. Especially a long fast-- it gives you enough time to completely reset your gut biome and completely resets your cravings to a clean slate.. Which was the biggest benefit IMO. But once I started eating my old food habits again, I gained all that weight back just as fast. So as great as fasting is, you still have to make a meal plan when coming off of it, or you will gain it all back in a hurry.

Did a few dry fasts but I live in New England. Loved them. Also have done a few 72s. Also loved them. It is tricky when you want to train heavy and be "heavier". But it is easy to "addicted" to eating less and fasting.

Think Mark really found something here. Everyone wants the same thing: more muscle, less fat. Need to loose fat…..then do longer fasts. Loosing too much muscle…..do shorter fasts like 2MAD or OMAD. It’s sustainable and healthy and easy way to stay in that desirable body fat range of 10-15%.

It's definitely a good way to help people develop a better relationship with food and since men do not bloodlet monthly like women do, it can certainly help helping your body get rid of dead tissues and cells in the body through what is called autophagy

@@jandjptthey can enhance the effects but they don't get you to the process because that takes time and it's hard to get to that process if your body is too distracted by digesting in metabolizing, which is why sometimes it can take 18 or even 22 hours to start that process.

I don't fast for weight loss as I am already chronically underweight. I do IF to mitigate my digestive issues and to build discipline/delayed gratification. Currently stepping away from it, though, and incorporating more calories/meals throughout the day.

It didn't for me.. The fasting made me lose weight fast.. so it motivated me to do more exercise, which really booted everything.. better mood, more energy, last longer in the b3droom, etc. It was so beneficial, just to get away from the trash food I was eating.
@bearshapedbubs6626

it also nukes IGF1 and messes up SHBG. The only legitimate non Woo benefit of fasting is as a form of calorie control
@smetzgerful
@smetzgerful Ай бұрын
It can lower T but it increases HGH hugely! It’s all about finding the sweet spot. Not too long of a fast. My experimenting has shown me it is one meal per day (23 hour fast). So that looks like fast/workout/eat dinner. Also an occasional 48 hour fast is ok, but research says the benefits (such as autophagy) decline quickly after 48 hours.
@bearshapedbubs6626
@bearshapedbubs6626 Ай бұрын
@@smetzgerful thats a misrepresentation of what's happening in a prolonged fast. HGH is converted to IGF1, which is the primary hormone responsible for youth and vitality Fasting destroys the IGF1 conversion process, so the body panics and produces more HGH in an attempt to get IGF1 back up. Unfortunately this doesnt work, so you get a very VERY minor HGH bump and a massive IGF1 drop as the HGH can't be converted

There's no need to speculate, just look at the data. Long term fasting for people that weigh normal amounts leads to massive muscle loss. Dr Peter Atia used to recommend this to his clients but started measuring their body mass via dexia scans, and saw they would lose like 8 pounds of muscle mass a year for doing longer pasts. He himself lost so much muscle mass that he completely stopped and started focusong in gaining muscle .

The benefits come from the caloric deficit and limiting your eating window. Those with certain gut issues, fasting could reduce the inflammation. Other than that, it's not magical.

Saying “if you haven’t tried it you can’t speak intelligently on it” is a non answer. He doesn’t address why his opponents are wrong. Just that they haven’t tried it so they can’t know. Just because I haven’t tried heroine I can still say it’s bad for you. It’s just a bad argument
@WalkDisneyWorld

Nahhhh you don’t understand an opiate high until you experience it. You won’t even be able to describe it accurately. You might be able to know that it’s bad for you, but you won’t be able to describe the effects. You can assume fasting is bad for you, but the research and anecdotal evidence proves otherwise……….
@SuitedPup
@SuitedPup 23 күн бұрын
That’s fair, but with heroine, we have a very clear understanding of the negative effects, including the mechanisms by which heroine adversely affects a person, as well as countless datapoints of individuals who have suffered from heroine addiction. With fasting, the effects are more complex, there is little to no incentive to study nor encourage fasting (indeed, there is negative financial incentive to encourage fasting - if it were indeed to cause a person to need less / no other medical intervention), and it’s more of an open question as to whether fasting is good or bad or neither. “If you haven’t tried it you can’t speak intelligently on it” is fair here, at least in the sense of - “I’ve tried it, I benefited from it, and I subjectively felt much better for it. If I hear someone cite a study that says fasting doesn’t help with X, I can safely disregard it, as I know from personal experience that I benefit from fasting”.
